SEALs who haven’t lied about their service (to my knowledge): John B Allen, AKA MrBallen: incredibly honest and humble about his time as a SEAL and became famous for his talent as a scary story teller, not talking about how much of a SEAL badass he is. Shawn Ryan: May have platformed some of the dishonest ones, but to my knowledge has not lied about his service, and at least comes off as humble and a good guy. My favorite US Special Operations Soldier of all time will always be Major Richard Meadows. There is a reason why there is 8ft, 900lb statue of this man at Fort Brag (Liberty) and there is a reason why his friend Allen Hoe from The British SAS wrote his memoir after Meadows had passed away in 1995. Allen rightly titled the book “The Quiet Professional”.. Not a finer soldier walked a modern battlefield.

My Grandfather served with distinction in the Philippines in WWII in the 11th Airborne. I didn't even find that out until after he passed. He never even talked about it. He came home, went to law school, and became an FBI field agent in the '50s. My Uncle, my Grandfather's brother, was KIA July 27th 1944 in Normandy and was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with Valor and Purple Heart - no one ever hardly discussed that either. Those men just continued with their lives and buried their demons. Stolen valor just didn't exist back then I don't think.
They are two inherently separate things. - A civilian can be a citizen of the US. Netanyahu served for five years in the Sayeret Matkal as a captain and was involved in numerous cross-border raids during the 1967-70 War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War. He was wounded multiple times., including being shot in the shoulder during the Sabena Flight 571 operation. His brother, Yonatan, commanded Sayeret Matkal during the Entebbe raid. So both brothers served in Israel's Tier 1 SMU at that time. Netanyahu, love him or hate him, was a special operator who conducted multiple combat operations.

Not because of serving in that unit Ehud Barak and Ehud Olmert were both Left Wing Labor Zionists and Bi Bi is very Right Wing Likut. He is like he is because of his individual experiences. 1. As a uneducated civilian I have to blame the general public because people like myself assume that anyone with a SF title has been on a buttload of missions and killing thousands of the enemy in hand to hand combat really because we've seen too many Rambo movies. I 100% admit this. I've had a best friend who was in the USMC tell me that I think way too highly of Marines. He was a diesel mechanic in the Corps. My father was drafted into Vietnam in 67' and I've learned about a lot of close combat that he was in but not from him. He won't speak and that's my cue. My grandfather (WWII Army Master Sergeant) always told me "If they have to brag, they have nothing to brag about. So it's idiots like me out there assuming that anyone with military and especially elite military are hardcore war machines when some have not been to war. I don't do this but I'm sure people ask stupid questions like "How many people have you killed" and things like that. So there's a expectation out there too.

Yeah I used to think that too, until it got too obvious that none of these guys are as honorable or trustworthy as you would think the military would require them to be. Turns out that integrity and character aren't top priorities in the SOF world, and that's just the nature of the game. Can't really expect guys who spent years killing for a living to end up well-adjusted straight-shooters. These guys have all had their brains scrambled for a decade or more, why anyone is surprised when they lie, cheat, steal, kill and/or do any number of other antisocial acts is crazy. The military turns these guys into murder machines and then just, cuts them loose after the contract is up. The fact that there's no re-assimilation program for retiring SOF vets is a massive public safety oversight.
I just wish special forces and the “quiet professionals” go back to being actual quiet… That’s what made them so elite was the level of silence and respect they had for their own community… I’m not saying they can’t speak on the story but don’t make it the main story you don’t see David Goggins constant talking about what he did as a seal he may relate to it, but it’s never his main focal point

Shawn Ryan, Andy Stumpf and Mike Ritland are three Seals who come across as very genuine and humble about their service. Usually downplay it more than glorifying it. Often times they highlight things they saw from others more than themselves, even the toughness and courage from civilians in other countries while they were deployed.
Marcus and Jocko get a pass for sure. Jocko never talks about his service. Marcus was approached by hollywood to make a movie. I mean those are pretty special circumstances. I would expect that. SEALs who haven’t lied about their service (to my knowledge):
John B Allen, AKA MrBallen: incredibly honest and humble about his time as a SEAL and became famous for his talent as a scary story teller, not talking about how much of a SEAL badass he is.
Shawn Ryan: May have platformed some of the dishonest ones, but to my knowledge has not lied about his service, and at least comes off as humble and a good guy.
Ephraim Mattos, who runs a non profit to protect and give relief to people in conflict zones.
David Goggins: Never claimed to be some war hardened, hero Navy SEAL, and rose to fame from his hard work as a runner, not BS war stories.
I’m sure there are others, but those are the only ones I can think of that aren’t obvious liars or narcissists.
MrBallen tells you how scary the water is...its always great when he talks about dangerous diving stuff and you know he did way more dangerous himself.

There is a true reality about military, "You can't live on past glories". To embellish one's past is to set oneself up for failure.
That’s cool and all real hardcore but sometimes people want to tell their story.
We are not civilians. We are CITIZENS.
They are two inherently separate things.
- A civilian can be a citizen of the US. A civilian can also NOT be a citizen of the US (i.e. illegal immigrant, guest visiting the US on vacation, registered migrant worker, refugee, etc).
- A citizen can be a civilian. A citizen can also NOT be a civilian (enlisted serviceman on active duty, etc).

Considering they’ve all “fought” for admitted lies, they’re not a bright bunch to begin with.
The issue with Jocko is that if you believe what marines have accused Chris Kyle of in Ramadi, you know who gave him the green light. Cops wearing Punisher skulls is one thing, TFB wearing them in an active combat zone was another thing entirely.

@Brotherken1234 No one is lying that's 100% true. Israel ain't like the US all their PMs are elite military officers going all the way back to BenGurion who was not that guy. Ehud Barak, Ehud Olmert, Bi Bi. Netanyahu and his brother Yonatan were all Captains in Sayet Matkal which is IDFs Tier 1 Delta Force Type Unit. It's is in fact why Netanyahu is the way that he is. Not because of serving in that unit Ehud Barak and Ehud Olmert were both Left Wing Labor Zionists and Bi Bi is very Right Wing Likut. He is like he is because of his individual experiences. 1. His older brother and hero/idol was killed by Palestinian Terrorists. 2 He was also wounded by them numerous times. 3.

Returning to Israel in 1967, Mr. Netanyahu enlisted in the IDF and served in an elite unit of the Israeli army, Sayeret Matkal. He took part in several operations, including the rescue of hostages in a hijacked Sabena airplane in 1972. In the same year, he was cited for outstanding operational command by General Mordechai Gur, Chief of Israel's Northern Command.
