If I had been at this session, at the mention of arranger/composer/conductor Jeremy Lubbock I would have leapt to my feet and cheered aloud! Jeremy is/was one if those unsung heroes on so many recordings, just like Earle and Gayle. People who read the liner notes of albums know and revere these names. Jeremy’s writing never failed to move me to tears.
I met Gayle several years ago at Firehouse when she played on my score for a small film. Knowing her by reputation I wrote a harp solo for her and she nailed it. She was so gracious and collaborative. Its an evening I will forever treasure. Thanks for sharing the video.
This is super fantastic. They are both so lovely and humble, and Gayle is the sweetest lady in the world. I could have watched 900 hours of this conversation, never mind 90 minutes. Thanks for brilliant hosting and producing too, Chris; just brilliant!
I would think the “Superstar” groupie girl would have fallen for the oboe player (Earle) sounding “so sweet and clear…”, not the guitarist. Maybe it was actually the guitar solo in “Goodbye to Love” that really won her over.
Chris May, we appreciate what you do 🙏. Do you think Richard is open to doing any project with Tori Holub following your collaboration with Tori on Georgia on my Mind? It would be great if he could re-record "Something in your Eyes" with Tori along with some other songs he would have wished to record had Karen not left us.
Wonderful interview and wonderful memories of the 55e 🙏🏻
Wonderful to see both friends, Gayle Levant and Earle Dumler!
Thanks Chris...your uploads on this celebration make me feel like I was there. You are the best!
Thank you Chris! ❤
Love hearing from those talented musicians! Thank you
