Found this beautiful review while searching up SaGa Frontier videos in keeping my hype for the Remaster alive Thanks to reading a translation of Fuse from the Ultimania for SaGa Frontier, i can answer some of the questions you have. 32:32 - The answer to that would have been explained un Fuse's cut scenario. That "body" was nothing more than a doll Ren had custom made to his likeness. According to the script, after a nasty fight he and Emeila had, he bought the doll to prank her by making it as if he had died. During the time though, he had been assigned to investigate Joker's mask. Fuse came over and in an effort to cheer his friend, forced the mask on his face, telling to live a little before leaving, not realizing what he had just done 41:41 - The explanation to that is one I think you'll enjoy. Blue and Riki's quests are connected. The reason why Hell looks more like Heaven is because long ago, someone from the Magic Kingdom collected the RIngs and wished for Heaven. As we know, the Rings always pervert any wish that they grant, hence Hell was created instead, but in the image of Heaven to mock the wisher. The denizens of Magic Kingdom did manage to seal off Hell, but knew it wouldn't hold forever, hence Rouge/Blue's creation in hopes of defeating Hell's Lord to weaken it enough to be sealed completely There's also hints that the Cube may have been responsible for the creations of the Evil Rings
HOt damn that really goes above and beyond. I'm really glad you liked the review. I think i've gotten better at these things lol and hope you enjoy my frontier II review. So the body is like an LMD from marvel? That's pretty great and I love the connection between Rikki and Blue, it seemed what the game was going for, these stories being distant but connected. That, Emilia and Mondo remarking on his lost love etc etc. so yeah your damn right I LOVE that explanation, because it ties in to what we already know (Monkey's paw Ring.) and adds a layer of depth. It's like eating a cake, to discover more cake lol.
I sadly never got to experience SaGa Frontier II, I've heard great things about it, but don't have any childhood attachments to it. Yep, and if you're wondering why Fuse and his team never figured why their "dead collogue" was nothing more than a fake, its because while they were transferring the "body" back to headquarters to perform an autopsy, their ship was attacked by Tanzer. Silence, who apparently has some kind of fetish for absorbing monsters, opened the ship's door to try and fight and absorb the interregional space monster. They managed to escape, but Silence's actions caused IPRO to lose their only piece of evidence to Tanzer's insides, effectively also dooming Emelia to be stuck in Despair had she not been helped by Annie and Liza If you can bear through using monsters again, Riki's scenario actually contains some hidden dialogues. As soon as you reach Scrap, the conversations leading to his first missions against "Mr. Gentleman" changes depending on who you *didn't* left in the pub. Mei-Ling is the exception since she's needed to progress the first part. But after Mei-Ling agrees to "Mr. Gentleman's" terms and goes with him. the fun begins. Riki can now talk to the others and their conversations will now be different. I'll leave you to find out on your own since its hilarious, especially what Gen says to Riki!! Another time it happens in Riki's quest is with the Rich man and his daughter. If you remember back in Emelia's quest, Annie mentions that she used to have a little sister who got adopted by a wealthy man. Yep, that little girl is actually Annie's little sister. If you can manage to recruit Annie to get the Ring in Despair before you go get the one in Yorkland, Annie will always be present during the scene, watching worriedly over the girl. To this day, it still amazes me that despite so many things being cut, Square still managed to create such a Gem in the small deadline they were given. It ranks 2nd in my Top 5 favorite PS1 titles, falling only behind Final Fantasy Tactics. I've always thought, "Man, if only this game hadn't been rushed, just imagined what it would have been." In 3 days, my dream will finally come true
@@Toshinegawa I've heard some people love it and others not so much but the same I've only played it now that i'm older and Same, a big part of this review was like 'Man, there's clearly so much they wanted.' THAT'S SaGa BABY. I don't think they'll do much to curb some of the more "player unfriendly" aspects of the game in the remaster. This is from the man that made Unlimited Saga after all. The games always demand the player to test things out and explore while giving them a nudge or nothing at all. I can see how this would turn people off, but I'm fine with it. If I want something much more clear then I'd play another RPG series. I also dig the mish mash of settings like what Final Fantasy Legend 1 and 2 did. I agree with you on monsters, I don't enjoy them in this game. If they were simpler like in the Gameboy games I'd be more inclined to use them but as always with the free scenario SaGa games they give you enough characters to make a party you'd enjoy playing.
I agree and disagre to a certain extent. I'm fine with player unfriendliness because I enjoy the games. Hell I play Old School SMT ala Nocturne where you get a new piece of armor only to then FIGHT a boss that uses a skill your now weak against lol A huge dick move, but the gameplay is fun enough you barell on. I love SaGa I just think they could in the Remaster have maybe like a manuel to be like 'YO read this.' Monsters could be better, which is again a real shame cause Ricki's story is just SO damn good.
41:37 The reason why Hell in this game looks like Heaven is because according to the lore, Hell was created when a wizard in the ancient times wished upon the rigs of salvation to create Heaven, but due to the rings being evil they instead created Hell with the appearance of heaven.
I usually tried to include one monster on each playthrough for variety, since 5 humanoids all the time can get boring. They also have access to Magic Heal and Life Rain, for when I was bored with using Mystics as utility characters. Black Dragon Riki and Mariche were my fav forms. Riki will probably be my first playthrough with tomorrow's release.
Monsters were just too janky for me, to really enjoy. I like the concept, one of my friends though was like 'Never say the words Vore ever again please lol' Monsters can be good, but you REALLY gotta know what your doing beforehand and not be like me and jut be absorbing things. Riki though has again one of the best arcs in the game, since it's essentially a coming of age tale.

After a life time of people calling various Rogue classes "Rouge" this is the first time I've ever heard someone call the french word for 'Red', "Rogue".
Something cool about Blue is that if you don't like him you can just change him out for Rouge. When you fight Rouge just lose the battle and you will continue the game as Rogue. Also another useful thing is go for time magic as blue and go to fascinatura (only way to get there that I know of) and get all the LP items so you only have 1 LP left. Then when you lose to Rouge you get all the LP back but get to keep the Asura sword.
Im replaying this with the remaster and this game impresses me more than it ever did. I never got the hang of the difficult battle system until now. Im almost done with Red. I just love all this games unique features. It was my favorite game as a kid (and Star Ocean 2) and now playing the remaster I am so thankful they did this because it brings back so much childhood nostalgia
It really is insane, how much was packed in a super short time. Yeah it's similar to my experiance with Silent Hill II a game that I couldn't FULLY appreciate as a child and only years later I was like 'wow I missed SO MUCH.'

In fact its a run killer in speedruns. The thing with Final bosses's HP is: with the exception of Mondo, bosses's HP scale with your Battle rank (they start at 25K and at each 2 BR level they get more 25K on addition to the starting quantity) You probably just either got strong quickly at a short BR or grinded enough to kick his ass. But he is really tough (Also about the HP/LP info in battle, you can press triangle everytime you want to see your health and wp/lp at any given time this was a feature since RS2 but cant blame ya since Kawazu games never tell you those things lol)
Thanks for all the info, I know about end game scaling, which I felt like was mentioned a bit when I mentioned general enemies. Anyways I'm glad you liked and I'm close to finishing SaGa II so expect a review on that unlike SaGa I there's no nostalgia at all it's compelty blind.
