Hey everyone! We apologize in advance for the background noise in the intro and walk around. Filming on the side of a highway with a bunch of Mini owners driving by isn’t the best decision but that view on the million dollar highway was stunning! Thanks for watching and we’ll be uploading a review of the JCW version next week!
Dude, you never have to apologize for anything in your videos, top notch review as usual. Keep up the good work and from one car geek to another, thanks for all of the uploads you put out. Love the cars, love the reviews.
@@theodorekell your joking right. Mini is by far one of the most unreliable cars made. Have a friend with a cooper s, and all he does is complain about the pos that car is. Always breaking something. On the other hand, my whole family owns accords and none have provided any major headaches.
@Raul Polanco dude, I am not saying Mini more reliable than accord. I am saying, Accord is not a satisfying car. It is built poorly. My bro has/had 5 of them, every gen prior to '18. I know these well. It is average Joe car these days. Nothing special. Especially bad in accord are seats. These can break your back. Literally. 2011 was just lump of plastic
To be fair, the mini isn't anything special either, and to call it a "BMW" is about as equivalent as calling a Smart car a "Mercedes". Fact is, the vehicles are built in a factory by people without the greatest track record for reliability, and the brand is owned and operated by a company with a tendency for complexity and over-engineering. If you're going to spend $40k on a "BMW", get a real BMW
Great review, as always! I really like the styling of the Mini Cooper Clubman. Especially its barn house rear doors and large circular headlights... Very unique indeed. The price seems to be on the high side, but then again there is absolutely nothing like this Cubman on the road today. So, I guess Mini can sort of justify that pricing. Also, the interior looked pretty top-notch... Almost luxury car like! From one car enthusiast to another, keep up the great work!
I wanted to like this car, a lot. Love the customization. I ended up springing for a 330 wagon because you can't be tall in this vehicle and expect good vision out the front. The seating, and leg room, are fine (I'm 6'4) but the roof line is so damn low that you have to bend forwards to see the light at a stop. Deal breaker.
Test drove the Clubman and 4 dr in S trims both 6 spd manual, and yes you can feel the extra size and weight of the clubman in both acceleration and handling, main reason I went with the 4 dr.
I believe the Million Dollar Highway is over 10,000 feet. On a normally aspirated engine, you lose 2% of horsepower for every 1,000 feet. It’s probably less since the engine is turbocharged, but you are still most likely losing a substantial amount of power and the turbo lag will definitely be longer. That may be why it doesn’t feel peppy off the line.
Easily the best review by far!! Love ur channel from day one! Since VW bettle is towards to the end of production line, can we possibly see a review on their latest model like R-line, Dune, GSR just to reminisce 🙏🏼🙏🏼
The good thing about Minis are that unlike Fiat, they use more expensive parts in their interiors and the similarities they share with Bmw's interior, engine, and Idrive
Long term review : 2018 Mini Copper Countryman All 4 S Problems prior to 60,000 miles: Door Latches: All four door latches failed (at various intervals) requiring the doors to be tied down to the headrest until repaired. The passenger door latched failed twice. Service manager was unable to offer an explanation as to the cause. Research mini and BMW door latch failures. Battery Replacement: No indication/warning light given that the battery was getting low… It just stopped functioning. Replacing the battery requires removing support bars and engine compartment panels. Somewhat time consuming compared to most cars. Engine Coolant: almost all of the engine coolant evaporated causing the car to overheat. No warning light that coolant was low. Car had been serviced by Mini of Bedford two weeks prior and had been consistently serviced by the dealership. Decals: Decals around the headlights bubbled and needed to be replaced. Tires: Run flat fair weather tires needed to be replaced to allow for inclement/snow conditions. Service/Technicians: There are very few shops that work on Mini Coopers and most are as expensive as the dealer. Overall: The Mini Copper is not a reliable vehicle and owning one in North America is costly unless you have the time to perform the repairs yourself.
My parents have a 2017 Clubman S and they’re getting a Model 3 this weekend. They got the Clubman to replace the 3GT we had, which was too big for my mom’s liking. I find those rear doors to be irritating, mostly because I’ve hit my head on that spoiler while loading it up to the brim, and because both doors are supposed to open with that key (if you press the button twice) but the second one usually doesn’t go. That would be okay, except the hydraulic things that open the doors are really high-pressure, so the doors are difficult to close if you don’t do it with some serious oomph. Super fun car though. Love it.
Great review but not a fan of the mini. Seems outdated and tacky with all those ‘70s changing interior lights. Also the performance is not up to par with the price. Looks good for roads in big cities like Paris or London where roads and parking are narrow but only for the basic manual transmission small Mini Cooper. The bigger version makes no sense to me specially at that price range. Great presentation as always.
I had a 2006 and the 2008 Mini Cooper S and although I didn't have any problems with the brand new supercharged Mini Cooper S the 2008 MCS was a POS. I only put 28k miles on it and the clutch had to be replaced. The sunroof broke on me and the car was leaking water. I did not do anything with the car except putting a strut bar on it and a big CAI. The problems started after my warranty expired and you would think that a car of this caliber would offer a little more and be a little more durable but it wasn't. I only drove short distances and after 3 yrs I only put 28k on the car and I had so many problems that it was in the shop almost once every month. It is not a good car to buy and I would never buy the car again even though I love the way it drove and looked. Looks aren't everything esp if you have a family and they like going on road trips.
When did you film this Sofyan? I live just outside Durango and would have loved to have met you. I drive a bus for the Durango/Silverton railroad and noticed one of our buses in the previous Mini review. I drive that road in a 45 foot bus but it is so much fun in a sports car. I used to enjoy driving my FR-S on that highway but now have to settle for my Mazda 6. I love your reviews and keep up the great work.
Always loved Mini as a brand because the cars drive amazing and have a lot of BMW parts for a much less expensive price. I love the mini hatch 2 door more though, that’s the one I’d get.
all the new F-generation Minis have comfort access keys. There is no where to "stick them in". Those were the older R-generation Minis. If anything you mean if theres a button on the door to unlock/lock the car by just touching the handle vs using the keyfob
Test drove one last week, not a big fan of the heads up display; it's too low so you still have to look down. I'd rather have it the traditional way where it's on the windshield.
Sofyan, I don't want to say that you've got ALL wrong. But you definitely misleading here on many items. I wanted to possibly buy this thing. I've spent 2 hours with it and in the end I only liked the presentation but not substance. You're right about seats - they are horrible. Cushions killed my thighs without being sport. Rear seat backing is too vertical for comfort without recline. If you push into seat padding you start feeling the board inch or so in. In all my other cars I failed to feel the board behind padding. Ride - is too harsh. On top of hard seats and hard suspension, tires are too slim and run-flat. Horrible. Engine performance and sound - not good. Requires premium gas. You praised the steering but I found it too light. Add to this numb brakes and absence of great handling (where did you find anything cart-like?), and you get nothing good in this car but nice wrapper. Mini also took away any DIY, they don't even have oil dipstick on this. And then you said something about huge following. Well, the truth is, it is drying out dude. Its like -10% annually for brand that at its best sold like 55K
"If you need space to put people in the back and in the trunk..." (17:50) Yes, this would be great. My passengers find my truck kind of cramped, this would be great....
I am considering buying a Mini Cooper or Cooper S. But only the small, more nimble 2-door model. I like the driving position and it’s fun to drive and easy to park as a personal daily. The Clubman looks overweight and overpriced. Countryman likewise.
OK, say what you want to say, but his is the car I have a hard time fathom why it even exists, same goes with SUV "Coupe". Like Mini is a thing because it is, mini.. You lose all the characters including driving. Why not buy a subcompact suv at this point, or a compact wagon.
Because cars are simply getting bigger. By todays standards, this is pretty small. There are no trucks today that are as small as the ford ranger in the 90's. Everything grew. Civics, trucks, camrys. Even cellphones grew. Welcome to 2018.
Great video man!!! The Mini Cooper Clubman s. Is very ugly too me. Is that your boyfriend in the car with you? You should do a review on 2019 Nissan Altima when it comes out. I can't wait for your next video.

The automatic transmission is from Aisin, not ZF.
Drive the Mini off the cliff man🚗😀
Thank you for confirming that this car needs premium gas, that is an important aspect to consider when buying a car.
Mini's are just flat out fun no matter what version you choose. Expensive...but fun🚘
This one is less fun than many cars half price. Lets take Elantra Sport that can run circles around this
yeah but then you're driving a gay ass boring Hyundai
I’m renting one of these on my trip to Colorado in May! Glad to see it’s fun on the mountains.
Redline Reviews = Heavenline reviews
Let's be honest, it wasn't the car itself that made it a "cult classic". What REALLY made that happen was The Italian Job 👍🇮🇹🚕🚔

Mr. G. 😂😂😂
I'd say Mr. Bean.
Watch Donut Media's video on Mini Cooper (everything you need to know)
40k for a mini. And people complain about Honda charging less for a fully loaded Accord.
you could pickup a base accord for almost half.. and 189hp? how pathetic
To be fair, Accord is made of crap. But still more value. However, Mini = BMW and Accord = Honda. And honda today is total shit

Nice car for a Mini, but there's no way in hell I'd drop $40k on that.
it only looks nice. once you see and feel all the little details, this car is not good at all
$40K FOR A MINI COOPER WTF
theodorekell That’s your opinion obviously. I have owned many luxury cars and Mini in my opinion is just as nice and way more fun!
Americans do everything on finance or lease so why does it matter.

Great review, lol, those bugs at the end was making you show some fancy foot work!
While I wouldn’t own one the Mini’s are so much fun to drive and I do love using them in the carshare program my city has.
Great review and thanks for informing us on the background sound problem
That’s just far too much money for what you get. I wouldn’t even look at it.

I’m sure the elevation is screwing with the peppiness of it too. Would be much better at sea level!
