Currently on the market for a family saloon/SUV after years of whizzing round in Coopers and Cooper S. This is on my shortlist but I think this car reflects my life. I used to be cool, fast, hot but now I've a kid, I'm bigger and not near as cool. Might just be the right car for me.

We have a 20 reg model with the cooper s sport pack on it. We love it, it is ridiculously loud as welll. Got Harmon lardons sound as well. Plus the jcw sport seats which this doesn’t have
Why do people think mini are only aloud to sell a 3 door car too small for 90% of people...sales figures show what people want whether its a 4series gt over a 3 series, a gla over a a-class its what people want thats why they sell it. Regardless of love/hate of the last countryman unlike the coupe or paceman it did well enough to sell it again
People who complain about such things are car people, which values cars a little more than a fridge or a dishwasher. They are emotionally invested. And most people just care about reliability, style, comfort and fuel economy which is fine.
Can someone explain to me: a.) Why this is an ugly car - apart from just saying so, no one can say why. I think they've done a great job of scaling up the signature Mini features to a small crossover-sized car. If the quirks and bubbles and retro styling of the Mini brand is not your thing, then there are many other traditional-looking cars in this segment. b.) Why it is such an issue that it's not small. You can still get a Mini hatchback in 3 door or 5 door, so the small (ish) option is there. But the market clearly wants this size car, hence the great sales numbers of the Countryman. Why do purists insist that it must be tiny? That's like saying all Volvos should be boxy station wagons.
If the furthest you can angle the seat backwards is just the normal seating position, its an option to incline the seat, not recline it... in keeping with the theme of pointlessness throughout the 'Mini'.

2018 Mini Copper Countryman All 4 S Problems prior to 60,000 miles: Door Latches: All four door latches failed (at various intervals) requiring the doors to be tied down to the headrest until repaired. The passenger door latched failed twice. Service manager was unable to offer an explanation as to the cause. Battery Replacement: No indication/warning light given that the battery was getting low… It just stopped functioning. Replacing the battery requires removing support bars and engine compartment panels. Somewhat time consuming compared to most cars. Engine Coolant: almost all of the engine coolant evaporated causing the car to overheat. No warning light that coolant was low. Car had been serviced by Mini of Bedford two weeks prior and had been consistently serviced by the dealership. Decals: Decals around the headlights bubbled and needed to be replaced. Tires: Run flat fair weather tires needed to be replaced to allow for inclement/snow conditions. Service/Technicians: There are very few shops that work on Mini Coopers and most are as expensive as the dealer. Overall: The Mini Copper is not a reliable vehicle and owning one in North America is costly unless you have the time to perform the repairs yourself.
I had a Mini Cooper 2011 it was a good car with no problems. After a while i had to put a pillow behind my back for comfort. I’m looking at Fiats now or VW’s?
I love the style of the exterior but I don't like certain things inside of the car like the screen is a rectangle in a circle and the gauge cluster looks a little outdated. The other thing I don't like is the price. The price is really expensive for what you're getting, at least here in the US.
Mat, instead of reviewing upgraded models, why not review basic ones and give an opinion. You can then advise as to whether or not someone wants to have this or that as extras.
Like your videos carwow but can you just take this one advise from me , just 1 .. when you show cars on the iPad it's never ever clear , either scrap that or use something clearer 👍

I tested both. Find the X1 interior looks empty and plasticky, but Mini also came at a higher price. Chose the later as it was quite uncomfortable to sit at the back of X1.

Adore mine - it’s so much fun to drive and very comfortable.
My Cooper S countryman comfortably gets 42mpg combined, love it, great car and although pricey you get what you pay for 🚙🚙🚙
Make sure you get with Carplay. If you dont the Dealership can't install without replacing entire radio. Very Costly.

About the fuel gauge - 50 pound extra gives you 20 liters more of a tank and a upgraded gauge that looks much better

I'm in LOVE with that interior. Those white seats with the grey trim is so classy. I love this car. The original mini 2 door is too childish.
This is the 2017 countryman not the 2018 version. The driving modes are now on the toggle switch, for example of one change.

the bmw x1 should not be classified as a bmw. everything about it is cheap, fake, and disappointing. mini all the way.
