    Hello Justin,
    Your videos about diabetes devices and apps are the best on youtube.
    I was really looking forward to the iAPS video, and I don't think I'm the only one.
    Thank you for what you do and I wish you much success in the future

    Merry Christmas to you Justin! I appreciate you and your informative channel. I got my 780G a few weeks after my 70th birthday. I was a Type II for about 11 years and controlled with an A1C of 6.6. About 1.5 years ago my A1C began to climb…long story short, I had developed LADA. I was taken off all oral medication and started on a daily Basel injection. Then after about three months I got a Libre3 CGM and began Basel injection in the evening and preBlousing for carbs at meal time! Counting carbs is a pain and then taking the bolus and waiting…ugh! Since I got my pump my life is so much easier! I’m thankful that I enjoy technology! The hardest thing for me was learning to trust the system. My target is 100 and at first I would wake up early in the morning and see my numbers as low as 84! Normally now when I wake up I’m running about 100 +/- 5! Sorry this is so long. Again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Hi Justin,
    It is important that a very popular TH-camr has finally adopted iAPS.
    I can assure you that since September I have never added carbohydrates...everything happens automatically.
    iAPS has the problem that it still doesn't support many CGMs and pumps like APS for Android which for example supports "eversense". Given your visibility I think you could help the cause.
    Merry Christmas!
    Luigi

    I want to know more about the literal transition from loop. Did you delete your loop app prior to initiating iAPS? If not, how do you keep them from competing?
    Do you have to start a new session with both the cgm and the pump when switching over?
    Thank you!

    Hi thank you so much for the video. I’m on month two. It was/is a steep learning curve.
    I’m still tweaking. Have to take into consideration monthly cycles etc.
    I currently have my settings which I’m pleased with and turn on an “120% profile” for 120min for main meals since I have not yet been able to get to “the right settings” that handle a full meal and don’t drive me low when not eating.
    So, my current settings keeps me steady and handles regular corrections and keeps me a beautiful steady lines while fasting but for meals I turn on “20% more”. It feels like cheating but it’s working. I would rather not do this since I will need a lot of profiles (eg my menstrual profile will need a regular and an eating one)
    I would like to know how/why/what was the thinking behind the setting changes you did.

    • @Ecfamilia2023
      @Ecfamilia2023 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Forgot to say I announce meals and I give a starter bolus. I found that it did better with a portion of the recién des bolus and then let it decide to dose the rest. So I blouse between 1/3 and 1/2 of the recorded bolus and generous in my carb counting.

    copeletely agree that all those prediction lines are unnecessary and tmi. they can remain an option under 'statistics and home view' but the default should be that they're not visible. an actual prediction line based on all factors such as ion, cob, isf, cr etc. would be helpful though.

    How do you get iAPS?

  • @LenaKanalen
    @LenaKanalen 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Regarding iAPS how good is it to prevent a Low Blood Sugar and when your blood sugar is going up after a low treatment how well does iAPS handle that? I am asking that because I'm on T-slim contro IQ and when I eat a low treatment with fast carbs sometimes I have to switch to sleep activity depending on why and when I'm getting Low so the pump don't give me an autobolus and make me low again.

    • @diabe_tech

    I really like your work, but one thing I haven’t heard you talk about much is accessibility for blind and vision impaired uses. As you’re aware, Diabetes affects eyesight a lot, I’m legally blind, not due to Diabetes, but use omni pod - and DIY loop. It would be great if people could help blind and vision impaired uses, make the software as in do it yourself, but also when you’re speaking to executives like insulate etc ask them about accessibility for blind people because at the moment without using DIY Loop, I cannot use Omni pod -. It beggars believe really that big tech often don’t think about accessibility for blind and vision, impaired people.

    So I can use iAPS in conjunction with the algorithm in the OmniPod 5?
    With the OP5 now 18 months, my biggest frustration is how long its algorithm takes to bring a high back into range; usually 5 hours on its own. In my understanding, the MedTronic 780 algorithm includes auto boluses to correct highs. I wish the OP5 did.
    I’ve been T1D for 60 years. My health is remarkably good, a gift from God. I did better with hbA1C on MDI, but it was endless micromanagement decisions. The OP5 can’t hold the numbers as carefully, but is less involved.
    So my question is simply, in your experience, can iAPS with an OP5 and a lot of care produce tighter bg control than an OP5 on its own?
    I’m not on Facebook. I don’t have outsider feedback. On Medicare it costs a lot for me to go consult with my endocrinologist’s diabetes educators. I’m don’t have the funds, really. Is iAPS not a sound option for my needs?

    • @Ecfamilia2023
      @Ecfamilia2023 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Just to say no, iAPS works with DAsh pods (and some older Medtronic pumps, but pod wise it’s the Dash). It doesn’t work with Omni5. You would have to chose to switch.

    The iAPS app is great, but some of the iAPS Facebook group moderators are condescending-hypocritical-censors. They talk about going FCL (Fully Closed Loop) on interviews and then proceed to censor you if you ask questions about going FCL on the FB group.
    I ask questions about the algorithm to better develop my understanding so I know what and how to test from an experimentalist point of view as a diabetic of 14 years (in good control), then they start to refuse answering my questions about the algorithms and instead start talking about safety concerns like they are a lawyer.
    Look, I get you guys being concerned about safety and giving responses that cover your butt, but at least answer questions instead of just blocking someone from being able to post anything. I’m gonna do what I’m gonna do regardless of what anyone says, you might as well give the best information possible so I can decide for myself. I’m not some idiot, I can change my mind on a dime if I see sufficient evidence. Most people who get into Looping are not idiots, and that’s how you were treating me.
