EUREKA! A fine pal has told me you can set Opener to create a default app by long-pressing on the app of choice from the share sheet. Hyper unintuitive but it does indeed work! mastodon.social/@crichton007/110435896881737372

So, is Find hidden? Because I can not find it in the app store. Can you put links to these apps? I have wasted at least a half hour of my life looking for these apps. I went to your twitter, your webpage and searched with filters on/ off iPhone only.thanks.

Developer of Find here. Sorry about the crashes - I will get to them :) My internship at apple ends in 2 months, so until then I'm not allowed to push updates, but I should be able to get away with critical fixes. I don't even try to look for iOS apps, they're all subscription based and it's so annoying. I love my MacBook because it has tons of free and open source software for it, I will take a slightly worse app that I can just buy and not have to worry about paying for it forever, on iOS that often isn't possible. Serious buyers regret almost a year after I bought this iPhone 14 Pro Max

    • @Daphoid

@@Daphoid Right yeah that's why I have to come here lmao, I can't just search them, every single one is a subscription and I need a TH-camr to find one's that aren't. many of these have subscription versions they're trying to upsell you on and I'm so done. I just want good open source software like on my Mac without constantly being sold something, it's exhausting and turns my phone (a tool I use every day) into a leech on my bank account

That’s an interesting idea re: YT video inventory. Of all the apps mentioned above music box sounds a whole lot of fun and super useful . Only now that I’ve read your comment I realise sth similar for YT videos could also be very convenient. What type of headings / categories have you chosen? Any tips on what works well etc. I might look into doing sth similar unless an app for YT videos already exists outside of YT folders. Cheers.

      @f52_yeevy ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@jornstobbe6735 I forgot to say that, of course, filters and automatic sorting have a BIG role in this. The Genre and Subgenre tabs serve specifically the role of containing keywords for my searches, that's what allows me to have all different kind of things inside a single table

    • @f52_yeevy
      @f52_yeevy ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@jornstobbe6735 @jornstobbe6735 Thank s for your interest, I also think that a personal yt videos archive would be a great app!
Anyway, my setup is very much subject to change, as I'll remove superfluous features and optimize others.
I use this system both for recording what I've listen to and what I still have to listen to but isn't available on Apple Music/has more interesting and complete resources (eg. score videos for classical music) on other platforms).
I have a main worksheet, where I insert every piece/album etc on a new row and have the following columns:
NR: this is just for tracking the growth of my list over time, and also having hyperlinks leading me to the second worksheet I, which I'll talk about later.
LISTENING STATUS: a combination of dropdown menus and conditional formatting (if any of these things are new to you, please ask) allows me to update with two clicks the color of each cell to visually represent whether I have listened to, have listened to just partially, haven't listened to at all, or I haven't listened to at all AND really want to listen to it asap.
      AUTHOR
      TITLE
TYPE: is it a piece? an album? a compilation or playlist? something else entirely?
MACROGENRE: eg. classical, jazz, rock, electronic, very broad terms to categorize my music
SUBGENRE: eg. baroque, bebop, ambient, progressive rock and many more specific terms I use just for reference, since trying to be perfectly precise in this column would pretty much impossible unless I wasted my life on it
      YEAR
      LENGTH
isFAVORITE?: colored checkboxes for my favorite pieces (don't use normal Excel checkboxes, they're slow af. you can find a forum article with some very useful VBA code (a macro) that does just the same, but better
RB: "Recommended By, for writing some friends or others who have recommended specific things.
      Miscellaneous NOTES: it varies.
Of course, I do not compile every column for every entry, I'd say that only the first four are essential, I might deletes some of the other ones.
The next worksheet instead contains links to score videos, interviews, articles, analyses etc related to the entries. I use formulas to automatically transcribe each title from the previous worksheet at the beginning of each row, so that I always know where to write what.
Then, I have a worksheet for other reference links related to music but not necessarily specific artists or albums, such as tutorials, cool TH-cam channels. I won't delve on the organization of this last part in this comment, it's already long enough.
Finally, there's one that I use for generating formulas and testing solutions.

@@SeanTube2099 I guess I have normalized it since that’s always been my theater experience until I moved to The States. They usually find the most dull frame to cut the movie. I usually enjoyed being able to chat about the movie during a break or go get popcorn. Even sneak out during a really bad movie without bothering other people.
It definitely kills the vibe for horror movies.
Funny part is I always thought it was an American thing since it meant extra opportunities for capitalism.

10 apps that just feel like an overkill on issues we should not have in the first place.
or it is just me, getting a bit older.
Thanks for the info, but nothing interesting this time.

That's fine. Not everything is for everyone.

For Opener I assume it can't detect which apps are actually installed. So that might be an API limitation

The last one is a great idea but I would need an app to remind me when I last opened it and used it 😛

I wish Apple would make a one time subscription that allows you to use everything Apple offers with out having to have multiple subscriptions 🙄

Anyone watching this, do not check out before that last app suggestion. I'm sure there are other apps with similar functionality to which I am completely ignorant, but that When Did I app is such an amazing idea, especially with all the darn filters and cleanings and maintenance that I personally always forget when I last did. For a couple bucks, it's really a no brainer.

Find it ironic that you stated Reddit vanilla app is a piece of crap and 6 days later they nuke 3rd party apps and now everyone’s guna have to use it, or depart. I’m guna watch that sinking ship from the shoreline.

I wouldn’t ever peg you as an Ethel Cain listener WHOA. Also, FWIW, Quinnie is great!

16:20 you don’t need opener, apollo has an extension that automatically opens apollo when a reddit link is clicked
