Late to the game, but "Dishonored 2 - The Clockwork Mansion" mission was unbelievable. Not only looks great, but the intricate room-moving mechanisms made this level really stand out.

That Cold War kgb mission just felt nostalgic for some reason. I think it subconsciously reminded of a game I used to play as a kid. That whole campaign was probably one of the most fun out of all the cod’s.
Also, as a person from Louisiana, who spent many times in New Orleans, they nailed the feel of it. Nailed. The sounds of the cobblestone on the streets, the music, the old buildings, the weather. You can feel the humidity when you play. It's amazing. They also nailed the swamps at night
Just FYI, only on high end pc with 2080 ti and 3080 can do ray tracing with full 60 fps. Ps5 and xbox series X runs at 30 fps with ray tracing on most games. Mile morales is 60 fps on performance and 30 fps on ray tracing and resolution.
I really love walking around futuristic Prague in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. They really went the extra mile creating this world. It's also really cool to see it gradually change into a warzone
Perhaps a little dated now but still very enjoyable for me is Numbers in CoD Black Ops. The setting in Kowloon, the interrogation scene to start the mission, traversing through the apartment buildings, the rooftop when the big jumbo jet flies overhead and the rain. Loved it.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 is probably the most detailed cod ever. Both Black Ops and Modern Warfare series will forever have a spot in my heart.
Great list, I was surprised that Ghosts of Tsushima didn’t make the list. Even though Bioshock is an old game already I think it holds up well and could be considered realistic in some areas. Also Forza Motorsport 7 and Grand Turismo Sport look VERY good!
Bioshock doesn’t really fit the criteria even though it looks great, it doesn’t have as great texture quality or lighting as games on this list under inspection. But the differences between bioshock and the games on this list is like the difference between itzhak Perlman and jascha heifetz
The fact that rdr2 is already 4 years old and STILL is ahead of other games when it comes to photo realistic graphics. Ok maybe not in the characters, and their movements, but look around the rocks, mountains etc...look more real than in ANY game I've ever seen🤗😎👍💙
Want to highlight control. It had some very detailed office space environments. And good amount of destructibility. It does look like a drab old office setup.
The thing i liked most about control is evrytime you change/fast travel a location it feels like your in a difrent area but if you run threw it you its smooth you might even miss that you changed an area .
A game that immersed me incredibly well recently was Forza Motorsport 7. I prefer to drive cockpit cam and every now and again I like to turn off the HUD. I decided to to the Nurburgring at night, by myself with no HUD. It was a friggen amazing experience honestly. You had to be in the right mindset to appreciate it I think. Most people look at Forza like a meme and give it hate because of its issues, rightly so. But if you can get past that and enjoy chilling by yourself in these ways, it's one of the best out there in my opinion, for console anyway.
Almost every level of every area and Ghost of Tsushima but that opening training session with your uncle looked so realistic and beautiful, and spoiler alert the final battle with your uncle looked absolutely amazing in the Sakai courtyard absolutely brilliant.!!
I just got done playing uncharted the lost legacy and honestly it’s very good. The story feels kinda short compared to a thieves end and the other uncharted games but the environment (India) feels very good to be in. It’s like taking a vacation to India to treasure hunt and quash a rebellion while you’re at it. It’s soooo good
Thats because your looking at a vehicle which usually look good in games and buildings that are really really far away. Try getting close to the buildings lol
Look. For Cyberpunk's faults, it is frustrating that people act like it isn't some of the most insane environment art there has ever been. I'm an ENV artist for a living, so it just bums me out a lot.
Yeah, Toussaint was a really awesome location in W3. I really wonder how the whole game including the B&W expansion will look like in the remaster version with ray tracing and stuff, hopefully will come this year. :D.
@@camfarenheit71 lol, I was just making room for my PS4 hard drive and I refused to take off Exodus because I know I will enjoy that game, just haven't invested the time in it yet. I'm so happy to hear you say the same thing I've been doing.
Yeah it’s sick and an underrated game pulling up in the train in the first open area was breathtaking and it’s gameplay is like those pc “online open world survival” games that never live up to the gameplay they show but exodus actually does
I was expecting to see Notre Dame from AC Unity. I know it's an older title, but the cathedral was recreated 1:1 and they are supposedly using the model from the game for the restoration after the fire.
It would be great to see a video about all the things that make RD2 feel like a living, breathing place! I know RD2 vids are common, but I think the story mode didnt get the respect it needed cause of the mods!! AAAND GO!!
Rise of the Tomb Raider has some incredible scenarios and locations. The lighting and shadow play is absolutely remarkable. Sometimes the lighting is so perfect, it's almost hard to tell whether Lara is real or not.
both tomb raiders I belived were super underrated I played through them both first day when I got them with my console lol. havnt been so into a game like that since mafia 2
Just finished Rise, and I agree. The game really is stunning, especially the lightning in some of the caves, really brought life to the game. This was a base ps4 btw!
For some reason I really enjoyed all the levels of Resident Evil Village. Truly a masterpiece with so much attention to detail in every little corner. I spent hours just walking around exploring every level, trying to find every little thing... Looking back at it now it feels weird that I almost didn't buy it because I wasn't really interested in it, now it is one of the best games that I remember playing.
Just playing through the game now as it is part of the ps+ and I have to say I agree. The image quality it's sharp and some of the cutscenes are mind-blowing, they look better than some Disney animations. I'm also amazed by how well it runs, well done Square.
I especially like seeing reflections on surfaces. It's great to se reflections in mirrors, where they are expected. But reflections on polished surfaces , like the KGB conference table? That is over the top excellent, and true attention to detail. Many game designers would have omitted those reflections.
I’m surprised they didn’t include Notre Dame in the list. Purely based on the fact that it is stunning when inside but also that they are using Ubisoft’s model of it to help rebuild the real life one.
@@jamesbedford7277 they are not using, it's fake news. ubisoft offered theyr help but there was no need for it as Notre Dame has theyr own much better models and so on, but i get it, it sounds cool
God, seriously. I would just crank my graphics to max and just stare at the sun shining through the windows of the De La Serre mansion. The way the light made the gold details shine was so good. It was the most real-feeling area of the whole game, and the entire game felt pretty damn real.
@@thebaddestlarry9424 Honestly, my game of the decade. And I really love Doom Eternal and Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. Ghost was just nigh fucking flawless though.
Saint-Denis incredibly crafted of course but the wilderness is the best part of RDR2 to me. When you leave the snowy mountains and reach the main camp for the next chapter I was blown away by the view.
I agree with this one, the snow is probably the best I've seen in a game, and the view from several places on that mountain is also top video game locations.
Cyberpunk running with psycho settings on a 3090 beats all of this in many areas. Or is it because it's not based in real-life areas? The nomad areas? The bar scenes? Incredible detail.
Horizon Zero Dawn and Detroit Become Human, two games with incredible graphics and I would be hard placed to find a scene or location in the games that didn't graphically blow me away with the detail and realism.
Man we've come along way from "Super Mario Brothers". I remember when I was a kid, we'd get amazed by games like "Mike Tysons Punchout" and "Contra" when they came out. The graphics were awesome back then
I can't wait until rdr3. The graphics and story will be so good that you will think it is real life. The only problem is it will take 50 years to release
RDR2 has the best story in any game- No, _all of entertainment_ so far. Even more than the LOTR movies, New Vegas, Interstellar, Yakuza 0, etc. The only story that comes close to RDR2's is Berserk.
if this had a part 2, i would HIGHLY and by that, HIGHLY include the games control and a plague tale: innocence. two infamously underrated games that have stunning visuals and environment
@@DsgSleazy I am aware. I meant original as in "the first place to be called Saint-Denis." I was referring to the place the new colony of Saint-Denis was named after. Like how New England is named after England because of all the English colonies named after original English locations. I know they are two different places in two different countries. That was my point.
Even now, mod it and it competes with rdr2. I liked the beautiful skellige to the warm colours of toussaint. It is a complete package. Bought goty for $4 dollars in steam sale and feel like I've robbed the developers. I have played it for 98 hours and only completed the story and first dlc, I still need to complete the second dlc that is said to be 50 hours long.
Agreed, Toussaint from Blood and Wine and Skellige from the original game look straight out stunning! And they are so dense with details and deeply thought design. Loved it! Though I still love Metro.Exodus and rdr2 better, but they both came out later, so it's unfair to compare. The forest location in Metro was just jaw-dropping! And the level of details on the train... Man, I literally spent HOURS on that train, looking around, exploring all the small things, like cute curtains, original mugs, all the posters and so on... I have very warm feelings for that place, it felt like it really mattered to everyone around there. Same goes for all the rdr2. Pure masterpiece with godlike views, stunning places and immersive atmosphere
@@OcnarfPro what? Witcher 3 on Switch looks so bad. There are no shadows and novigrad looks like a ghost town with no population. It is pc where it shines
Witcher 3 : The wild Hunt has probably some of the most visually aesthetic graphic design , but i think when we talk about realism, titles like witcher 3 don't count. They're more artistic.
Excellent video, would really appreciate if you can also list the games in the description or at least show the Titles in video while talking about it. Keep up the good work...
The Last of Us 2 was fun for me because I live in Seattle and I noticed things like a Jamba Juice store rebranded as a fictional smoothie store, but it was exactly the same internal layout and colors as a Jamba Juice. Oh also, they included a Nordstrom store that looked familiar, so I looked it up on Google Streetview according to the street signs in game and sure enough, it was a Nordstrom store.
For some reason my last of us 2 looked really dark same with AC Valhalla not sure what the issue is tried turning off HDR and all that... but other then that the graphics were amazing!
i think a lot of hitman games had pretty cool effects indoors and outdoors .. like when your are in russia in hitman 2 or japanese castle.. or in later games a lot of cool levels.. to walk in. great video.
When i play games, is all about surrondings, i am amazed how good they are. So much details on everything, i love it. I looking forward in the future, when i can be in the game myself. I think that future is very close. Already today they can put touch, smell and taste in to VR. Is not out yet but i read it. So i guess in 20-30 years, the game industri would be mindblowing.

The police station locker room in San Andreas… Doesn’t get any more real than that

9:13 I played this a few days ago on max settings and it's gorgeous, my jaw dropped when I first walked down that train station walkway
All of the hitman 3 levels are incredibly realistic, along with those mentioned in the video - look at Berlin, Mendoza and Dubai
Imagine having these graphics on VR.
Give it time
I can't wait for affordable 4K VR
Hi to all people who are going to react to this comment in 10 years.

Can't wait
Great list, I was surprised that Ghosts of Tsushima didn’t make the list. Even though Bioshock is an old game already I think it holds up well and could be considered realistic in some areas. Also Forza Motorsport 7 and Grand Turismo Sport look VERY good!
Just wait until Sony decide to port Ghost of Tsushima to PC. Then it will definitely make the list.
Bioshock doesn’t really fit the criteria even though it looks great, it doesn’t have as great texture quality or lighting as games on this list under inspection. But the differences between bioshock and the games on this list is like the difference between itzhak Perlman and jascha heifetz
ghost of tsushima has really great art direction and it looks beautiful, but it doesn't look the most realistic.
I imagine when one is saying "realistic" all the settings are cranked to max.
@@David0gden It's almost criminal that the PS4 was too weak to handle the visuals of the original E3 reveal. It was insane.
The fact that rdr2 is already 4 years old and STILL is ahead of other games when it comes to photo realistic graphics. Ok maybe not in the characters, and their movements, but look around the rocks, mountains etc...look more real than in ANY game I've ever seen🤗😎👍💙
No Half Life: ALYX? I've been PC gaming since the early 90s and I've never seen anything so fundamentally, ground-breakingly realistic.
Want to highlight control. It had some very detailed office space environments. And good amount of destructibility. It does look like a drab old office setup.
Is that better than F.E.A.R which had a lot of office space?
The thing i liked most about control is evrytime you change/fast travel a location it feels like your in a difrent area but if you run threw it you its smooth you might even miss that you changed an area .
Despite its terrible launch, the graphics on cyberpunk is also amazing the driving though the city and all js
Correction, some parts looks amazing on high end pc
The animations are really good tbh when they work
i played it on ultra, it looked so lifeless imo.
@@donutello_ why exactly did it look so lifeless to you?
@@donutello_ should've played it on Psycho then.
I remember first time I explored Saint Denise at night. It blew me away how gorgeous the graphic was. Especially the lightning tech is really good.
Lol saint denise was the best area on the map imo.
When I first got to Saint Dennis in rdr2 i was just like:
"Wow"
Same.... was it nighttime by chance? The lighting was 😮
Yes with 20fps lol
Tbh I enjoyed the countryside more than the saint denis, liked it more in valentine and co
i didnt notice anything but mary janes jeans
Saint denis Stinks!

It’s soooo good
You threw in my favorite game as a bonus, ily 💕
MS Flight Sim, The graphics are photorealistic, sometimes you have to do a double-take
I can’t wait to play it!!
This was my first thought, but they are talking about specific levels. The whole of MFS looks extraordinary.
Except flying very low
Thats because your looking at a vehicle which usually look good in games and buildings that are really really far away. Try getting close to the buildings lol
This was a seriously noobie list
Look. For Cyberpunk's faults, it is frustrating that people act like it isn't some of the most insane environment art there has ever been. I'm an ENV artist for a living, so it just bums me out a lot.

I would like to take a moment to say that your intro sound effect is perfection.
Honestly I was impressed by TLOU2,RDR2 beautiful world building and graphics
Toussaint from Witcher 3; never seen such elegance in any game ever, sheer beauty.

I passed on the game for so long and really wish I hadn’t. Enjoying it immensely!
It's a pretty decent 8/10 game.
AAAND GO!!
I'm surprised Metro: Exodus isn't on this list
I was looking through the comments for just this!
Someone said it! It's such a beautiful game graphics AND story-wise! Both endings 😢
So do I
Wtf is that?
Same Metro was absolutely stunning
Rise of the Tomb Raider has some incredible scenarios and locations. The lighting and shadow play is absolutely remarkable. Sometimes the lighting is so perfect, it's almost hard to tell whether Lara is real or not.
And Shadow of the Tomb Raider too :)
both tomb raiders I belived were super underrated I played through them both first day when I got them with my console lol. havnt been so into a game like that since mafia 2
Just finished Rise, and I agree. The game really is stunning, especially the lightning in some of the caves, really brought life to the game. This was a base ps4 btw!
Fantastic shout!
I love how detailed and realistic cutscenes look in ROTR.. especially the facial animation.
Surprised there wasn't a single Tomb Raider entry, some of those scenes blow me away everytime I see them!
Final Fantasy 7 Remake has some really really good looking parts
Just playing through the game now as it is part of the ps+ and I have to say I agree. The image quality it's sharp and some of the cutscenes are mind-blowing, they look better than some Disney animations. I'm also amazed by how well it runs, well done Square.
Especially the door at the Inn near Seven Heavens :p
Agreed
No, it looks muddy
Came to find this.
I especially like seeing reflections on surfaces. It's great to se reflections in mirrors, where they are expected. But reflections on polished surfaces , like the KGB conference table? That is over the top excellent, and true attention to detail. Many game designers would have omitted those reflections.
The reflection effects are amazing!
Any Palace or Rich house interiors in AC: Unity. Coming from the last Gen games the lighting and reflection was near photo-realistic.
I’m surprised they didn’t include Notre Dame in the list. Purely based on the fact that it is stunning when inside but also that they are using Ubisoft’s model of it to help rebuild the real life one.
@@jamesbedford7277 True. It was really detailed.
@@jamesbedford7277 they are not using, it's fake news. ubisoft offered theyr help but there was no need for it as Notre Dame has theyr own much better models and so on, but i get it, it sounds cool
@@jamesbedford7277 It was only said that it was potentially detailed enough that they could use it, but they never said they ARE using it, to be fair.
God, seriously. I would just crank my graphics to max and just stare at the sun shining through the windows of the De La Serre mansion. The way the light made the gold details shine was so good. It was the most real-feeling area of the whole game, and the entire game felt pretty damn real.
Naughty Dog's commitment to using textures and objects just ONCE for their games needs more praise. Their commitment to not recycling is unparalleled.
Not their cars though, they re-use them a lot (Chevy Aveo, 4th gen Honda Civic..)

Saint-Denis incredibly crafted of course but the wilderness is the best part of RDR2 to me. When you leave the snowy mountains and reach the main camp for the next chapter I was blown away by the view.
Me too and everytime the gang moved to a new camp
I agree with this one, the snow is probably the best I've seen in a game, and the view from several places on that mountain is also top video game locations.
Imagine travelling back in 90s with a 4k TV and a ps5 and showing these to some kids playing Goldeneye 64

Can’t believe someone rates it so precisely. This is what I believe! These levels are jaw dropping.
Cyberpunk running with psycho settings on a 3090 beats all of this in many areas. Or is it because it's not based in real-life areas? The nomad areas? The bar scenes? Incredible detail.
I'd still take maxed out rdr2 with modded lights
I agree that Cyberpunk is awesome graphically, but nothing touches rdr2's maxed out graphics and details. At least for me.
Exodus last chapter absolutely made my jaw drop. The dark tunnels with ray tracing was insane.
Saint Denis is my favorite city/town location as well, with Strawberry coming in at a close second. I just love the cozy rustic feel of Strawberry..
It's a shame Strawberry doesn't have a saloon.
You guys make great lists.
Uncharted 4 was the first game that made me go "whoa" in a video game
Ya! one of the best I have ever played :)

Horizon Zero Dawn and Detroit Become Human, two games with incredible graphics and I would be hard placed to find a scene or location in the games that didn't graphically blow me away with the detail and realism.

exactly what i was thinking. you dont live out assassins creed games especially ac unity if you are talking about realistic graphics.
Fun fact: The original Saint Denis was in the dlc of Unity as well. Aka Franciade.
@@raiden6428 they're two different places with completely different architecture, idk if you can really call it the original.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, was really breathtaking for me at the beginning with the mountains and everything later with the overall feeling and graphics
