Red Dead Redemption 2. The mission where the gang assaults Braithwaite manor. Seeing the gang members ride their horses down the narrow road with the drumbeat in the background, followed by the gang members walking up to the house side by side and armed to the teeth was fantastic, and will never fail to give me goosebumps
Destiny 2 the forsaken campaign's first mission. Its the prison break and you fight your way through, its incredibly fun and at the end is one of the most heart felt moments in Destiny.
When I think of legendary missions those Titanfall 2 and Uncharted 2 missions always come to mind, glad they are featured here. Another for me is "Strite" from Thunderforce IV. I still play that level often. Music is just too good!
The freedom march in Detroit become human actually gave me chills, everything, including the music and altercation with the cop, made it so epic, and not to mention the combat section, it was SO GOOD AND WELL DELIVERED
Speaking of RDR2, the mission "My last Boy" was one of the most memorable missions for me on a first and second playthrough. Definitely one of the most badass missions in the game
I'm not sure if anyone's commented it, but 'No Russian' from COD MW2. Enough said. This mission was so shocking and incredibly controversial at the time. I'll never forget playing it for the first time and the look on mine and my friend's faces when we finished the mission, especially the twist at the end after all of that carnage.
haven't even seen the video and if i had to geuss that would have been the most memorable mission, its not something you would forget if you ever played it. even if you didn't play it you would know this mission if you were a gamer at the time
The suicide mission was one of my favorite moments in gaming.... Man watching this list shows how much great stuff the Xbox 360 and PS3 had on them..... sadly all we get now is battle royal, microtransactions and characters with annoying personalities.
@@PhilipKerry Not trolling. I played Mass effect 3 first, loved it and then played the first 2 games. The suicide mission was really good, but not the best mission in the trilogy for me. I just don't see what's so special about it. To each their own though
@@Catman-san the suicide mission is fantastic. Don't get me wrong, I loved many missions in ME3 such as Tuchanka and Rannoch but ME2's ending is god-tier gaming. Not just in level design or gameplay but in the setting of raiding-the-unknown, the atmosphere of pressure and last stands, everything and everyone you recruited, built and upgraded coming together. That cliffhanger. And jesus christ the soundtrack. THAT'S how endgame titles are made for real. Kinda curious about which you consider the best mission in the trilogy though
I feel like "A Crack in the Slab" from Dishonored 2 took the time travel ability and amped it up even higher. Also the Clockwork Mansion was jawdropping. Truly amazing, game changing missions I don't think I'll ever forget
I remember when I was a kid and I only had the Halo Demo and the only mission it had was The Silent Cartographer; I would replay it over and over and over again because it was that amazing. Even did so when I got the full game.
Great video as always Gameranx. A bit off topic but I'd love to see you guys cover video game music in some future list. Genuinely surprised it's not something you guys have covered in a previous list.
@@tobitroyer9429 I think you can play up to 5 seconds of a clip before you get in trouble? I'm not certain about that though. I don't know if 5 seconds is long enough to really get a feel for the music.
I would think it would be a bit harder with copy right claims. So it would have to be more then talking about the music and then leaving links where we could listen it. Yet it would be a great topic. The Halo and Mass Effect music really do a lot to set the tone in the scenes.
"Horizon Zero Dawn: The Heart of the Nora." For all of us who wonder what our purpose in life may be, Aloy gets a clear and distinct answer. Her emotional state of that revelation, and then to become "The Anointed" after being shunned her entire life is powerful stuff. The follow-up, "The Mountain That Fell," is also up there, when she learns the true fate of those who led the effort to save mankind. I always find that scene in the meeting room rather haunting.
I agree big time on this! As I progressed through that game, it felt like I was a time traveler, discovering what could happen to us in the future due to our ever-increasing dependence on technology. And the amazing gameplay just kept you on your toes.
For me its the mission where u climb to the top of that tower and see the recording of Ted, u finally understand what happened. Whole story is great tho, especially in that bunker where the last stand was made
@@Frost4Real My reaction to the climb at FAS was, "Ted, you dumbass." He was still trying to play it off as "just a glitch" and a PR disaster. Only later do you get a real feel for exactly how bad things are. What's REALLY fun is having even an ounce of knowledge about "Gray Goo."
Lots of great moments in that game. Just comforting Judy after Evelyn kills herself - a mission where you don't really do anything other than listen and say a few words here and there - is something that's gonna stay with me forever. It's just so heartbreaking. Also in Panam's questline, when you're at the campfire with the Nomads, and they raise a glass to Scorpion, and Panam adds "and to Jackie" - that was really touching. Honestly Panam's entire questline is full of great moments. And the gig, where you get Samurai back together. Incredible. So many great moments in that game. It's a shame so many people are missing out on it because of a botched launch and terrible marketting
@@RuptimusPrime The mission when you get Samurai back together is seriously one of the best missions I've ever played. The entire buildup and then seeing Johnny playing the guitar with his friends. Amazing, literally made me cry thinking about my old college band and wishing we could do something like that one day.
Far Cry 3's weed mission and Far cry 4's Opium mission where you side with Amita. Also FC6 has one where you have to defend a concert in a thunderstorm? That one is also epic.
The final few levels in Age of Calamity's main story line were legendary for me. All of Hyrule's races coming together, dealing with the blood moon, storming the castle, the little guardian's big moment.
While I do think the suicide mission as an iconic mass effect level, I think the vermirie mission is even more iconic. The introduction of the Reapers as sovereign not really giving a crap about Shepard made it seem really cool and still gives me goosebumps
It's not quite in the same realm, but the intro/opening level in Dead Rising was something I'll never forget. Never seen anything like that before and it just blew my mind. Maybe you guys should do the most legendary video game opener/intro levels (if you haven't already)
Dishonored 2 has a similar mission to TF2 and honestly I love this type of mission, going back and forth between time though with Dishinored 2, half way through you do something and it has an overall effect since you see the world around you change.
I was thinking the exact same thing I love the little sight you get in Dishonored 2 that lets you see into the opposite time so you don't get caught out in the open.
I remember loving the Facility on Goldeneye on N64. I played that level so much and knew it so well that I could play this level on the hardest difficulty setting and not take a single bit of damage. I was so proud of myself for that. Of course, my favorite "cheat" in that whole game was Paintball Mode, which of course I used on Facility.
The star destroyer mission in star wars the force unleashed was one that came to my mind. Just the cinematic aspect of that scene made it stuck in my mind as you really see starkillers power
For me the heist mission in cyberpunk is definitely my favorite one its not so bombastic in terms of whats actually happening but its really immersive and the end of that mission really makes the emotions hit
The ending for red dead redemption has been stuck in my mind since i first played it, really great ending and the revenge aftermath just adds to it. Plenty of memorable levels from metal arms glitch in the system that i personally won't forget. For me the most memorable mission on halo ce is 343 guilty spark, although that game had tons of memorable moments and missions. The ending of two betrayals is my favourite part in the entire franchise. Doom e1m1, not necessarily my favourite level but it was a great entry into the series. Return to castle Wolfenstein : X-labs, if there's one mission that has been stuck on my mind for years it's X-labs. It has some really good action and moments
One mission that always stuck with me is the Take it Back! finalé from Fallout 3. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as taking out scores of Enclave with the giant Liberty Pride mecha, obliterating everything in its path and spewing patriotic garbage all the while.
Playing through Ravenholm as a kid was super creepy, but hella fun! Thanks for including Half-Life 2, it's always nice to know I'm not the only one still thinking of that game lol
I loved the Dam and the Facility levels in Goldeneye too. I played them and the boat level the most. Locomotion was an awesome level. It's definitely the thing I remember most about Uncharted 2, along with the opening chapter.
For another HL2 entry, I’d pick the hunter/civil protection ambush in Episode 2. The one where you’re cornered into a two story house while waves of soldiers are giving cover fire for the hunters who are most certainly HUNTING you and Alyx as they try to break into the house. The first time I played that mission, it all played out SO cinematically and cool. I felt the fear of knowing “oh no. They’re inside” and trying to dodge and outrun them in such a tight space while getting fired at by the storm trooper dudes outside. Just so dang cool
If there's EP2 content then you better mention Vortal Combat. It's crazy well set-up and the ost gets you pumped up like hell. I also love the hunter ambush but the antlion battle just takes the cake to me.
My legendary mission is an escape and run mission in Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (Original Xbox). You lock doors in your hotel room and go to sleep. You're awoken by locals banging on your door and what comes next is a scary intense sequence of barricading doors, run, jumping out windows, running while avoiding getting shot through windows and corridors. It's so intense, scary, the music the sounds the shouting and the fact your character panics, gets blurred vision as he becomes more panicked. Aaaand if you sustain injuries to your legs he'll limp, slowing your pace. Highly recommended.
What Mass Effect 2 did very well is that you feel like an ACTUAL Commander. Everything builds up to the suicide mission and how the game ends. That mission is such a payoff and I love it.
Read Dead Revolver, the last few missions are some of the most memorable. Defending a train assault, then a battle royale to get into the big baddies mansion, then a huge fight through the mansion. That whole bit was peak gameplay.
The wonder tower mission from Batman Arkham city. It starts off with protocol 10 (helicopters flying around the city and shooting missiles) to fighting your way through the wonder tower as you scale to Hugo strange. Such a wonderful view too.
For me Bunker 2 is the one that sticks in my mind for Goldeneye. It was literally the hardest mission of a game I think I've ever played (when on 00 Agent difficulty). It gave the greatest sense of achievement when you finally did it, but man did it punish you
Half life 2 had an unforgotable relation with my childhood,an especial unique emotion always come to me when I revisit every individual scenses of it specially last mision tower climbing and explosion and THE QUESTION. I think for a mission and for a game to be legend there is wanted more than what that game really is. It's about SITUATION and FEELINGS you were experienced on that specific time.
Great choice on the Cartographer level. I absolutely loved every mission of Halo CE, but Cartographer Definitely put all the best parts together. And let's be honest, mini D-day invasion on the beach right off the start is absolutely exhilarating.
Honorable mention to 'Fallout 3'. It had two potentially iconic quests. - The first being the final mission, 'Take it back!', where you fight along side a battle mech to take back the Jefferson Memorial, and then have to make that controversial choice at the end (unless you have the 'Broken Steel' DLC installed). - Or 'Tranquility Lane', which is my personal favorite. Either one.
Hell yeah, "Do Not pursue Lu Bu" was so fun but hard AF. In one of the other games in the Dynasty games my bro and I played co-op as higher-end characters and we still barely beat him!! As always what a great job Gameranx!!
As far as HALO goes, I'm still partial to AOTCR right after The Silent Cartographer. I must have played that mission a hundred times because you start in the middle of nowhere and battle across a huge map, with I'm pretty sure every vehicle in the game at that point (Ghost to Warthog to Tank to Banshee) - it was just the perfect amalgamation of that first game. And then, of course, Two Betrayals, when you do pretty much that whole mission in reverse with the flood hunting you down, too.
Far Cry 1. The enviromental dome blew me away. Though the aircraftcarrier in the lagoon was fun too. The bloody baron mission(s) in witcher 3 were emotional rolercoaster rides.
Mass Effect is my favourite video game series of all time, and game 2 is my favourite of the 3. The suicide mission is fantastic in every way. I am so happy it was included in this video. 😊
“We Shall Be Together in Paradise” - RDR1. The mission itself isn’t special until you hit Mexico, and let me tell you, riding into the Mexico sunshine while “Far Away” plays in the background is something magical.
The library in halo is probably the greateat mission fighting the flood for the first time. Idk not a halo fan boy, but it was epic the first time I played it.
The Witcher 3 - Blood and Wine featured several of the coolest levels I’ve ever played. From when Beauclair was being ravaged by vampires, to when Geralt is in the comical fairytale land… that DLC is arguably some of the best DLC ever produced.
What level do you have to be to play blood and wine??? Like do you have to beat the game first. I remember I bought it but was too low leveled to play and kinda gave up???
@@davidvader8723 You can start Blood and Wine as a standalone game with a pre-levelled Geralt they built for you to jump straight in. It's been a while since I've played but I used my main game Geralt after completing the game and had no problem progressing but I have no idea what level I was but I want to say I was somewhere in the 30s.
« Blast Pit » in Half-Life 🥰 More like a chapter than a « mission », but damn, Half-Life did a really great job of modernizing what were FPS games... 🥰
1st mission of Homeworld. The chilling realisation that they are not alone in the universe, and the following mission when they return to Karak. Coupled with the artistic cutscenes and the voice acting, so much feels. Bonus points for the levels in the nebula, and what you are forced to do there. So many amazingly done levels, one of the best games ever made, hands down
It's more of a low key mission in RDR2, but Arthur and Sadie taking out O'Driscolls and then Sadie spilling her guts afterwards. It made me want Sadie for RDR3!!
My personal most legendary mission is Shadowbringers from the FFXIV expansion of the same name. Best mission in FF history, imho, and it truly made that expansion so impactful.
The Suicide mission in ME2 is my favorite "final mission" of all time, even with the dinky terminator battle at the end. It's so sad that they planned a similar mission for ME3 and instead chose to go with the starchild nonsense...
Halo in general was very memorable, for me it was Assault on the Control Room that was one of the standouts, Halo and Truth and Recon were up there too. I also played as a child so of course i remember it differently than playing it now.
Battlefield 3's Spec-Ops Mission Hit & Run, I still remember crystal clear. Was playing coop with my girlfriend at the time, and at the end when you both get into that SUV, and blast your way out of a Musuem Parking Garage with French Rap blasting in the background.. that moment is permanently engrained into my brain till this day.
I totally understand putting Silent Cartographer at number 1, but the Covenant in Halo 3 is my favorite. Incredible lines, top-notch music, plenty of enemy types, lots of vehicles contact, and the ending of it is amazing. It's a non-stop ride of the best of sci-fi war media.
Battlefront 2 Operation Knightfall. Taking part in the Jedi Temple massacre is just so iconic to me. The coldness and ruthlessness of the clone during the intro knowing what you're about to do and the hope they have that the galaxy can live in peace now the Jedi are gone just sends chills down my spine every time. I've played this mission over a hundred times and it still gets me.

Destiny 2 the forsaken campaign's first mission. Its the prison break and you fight your way through, its incredibly fun and at the end is one of the most heart felt moments in Destiny.
Shout out to "Regicide" from The Taken King. That Oryx reveal will never be topped.
Can I play the whole game co op PvE?
@@McGeezle yes
Man, when you manage to pull off the Suicide Mission in Mass Effect 2, it's just epic and fulfilling.
This is the first thing that came to mind when I read the title
I'm not sure if anyone's commented it, but 'No Russian' from COD MW2. Enough said. This mission was so shocking and incredibly controversial at the time. I'll never forget playing it for the first time and the look on mine and my friend's faces when we finished the mission, especially the twist at the end after all of that carnage.
That mission was my first thought starting this video and was sad it wasn’t in the video
haven't even seen the video and if i had to geuss that would have been the most memorable mission, its not something you would forget if you ever played it. even if you didn't play it you would know this mission if you were a gamer at the time
I enjoyed the final mission for Halo 1, that warthog run to escape through the ship was great.
That was fun.
The first mission of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The soundtrack, the Metal Gear Ray you have to attack, it's all just *chef's kiss* 10/10.
I'm really glad you guys picked ME2's Suicide Mission for the list. It is a great ending to a legendary game!
I feel like the suicide mission is overhyped.
It's not the best mission in the trilogy, but maybe that's just my opinion
@@Catman-san I feel that your trolling is overhyped ......
You missed father Godwin's mission in Kingdom Come Deliverance. Epic! Just EPIC!
Noted. Thanks for your suggestion.
Is that even possible without getting in trouble?
@@tobitroyer9429 I think you can play up to 5 seconds of a clip before you get in trouble? I'm not certain about that though. I don't know if 5 seconds is long enough to really get a feel for the music.
WHERE IS GAVIN
Horizon zero dawn got me emotional sometimes. That scene was one of them
I agree big time on this! As I progressed through that game, it felt like I was a time traveler, discovering what could happen to us in the future due to our ever-increasing dependence on technology. And the amazing gameplay just kept you on your toes.
Damn...I felt absolutely none of this while playing that mission or game lmao.
A lot of people hate on Cyberpunk, but the main mission with Jackie getting out of the hotel and him dying made me let out a couple of tears.
He should’ve kept the Relic. It shouldn’t have been me. He would’ve only been there in body, but I’d still get to see him.
I didn't think the gameplay for that mission was all that great tbh. The final mission with the Aldecaldos was sweet tho
Far Cry 3's weed mission and Far cry 4's Opium mission where you side with Amita. Also FC6 has one where you have to defend a concert in a thunderstorm? That one is also epic.
Uncharted 3 Stowaway mission, where Nate falls out of the plane. That whole mission was insane!👌🏽
I think it's called "a crack in the slab" and yes it's amazing.
I was thinking the exact same thing I love the little sight you get in Dishonored 2 that lets you see into the opposite time so you don't get caught out in the open.
love that level on Dishonored 2
Yeah i thought about that mission. They both take me back to zelda link to the past when you switch between light and dark world.
Dishonored 2 has one of the greatest level designs of all time. Underrated gem.
Ride of the Valkyries in Far Cry 3 was such a fun time. As soon as that music kicked in I had the biggest smile on my face.
👌🏼👍🏼
That level was fantastic, BUT I played it so many times to unlock invincible, that it just reminds me of childhood rage now.
I forgot all about the cheats and paintball mode!!!!!
@@skyfuel1532 paintball mode was my favorite, although it wasn't really a "cheat".
My favourite was duel wielding.
The star destroyer mission in star wars the force unleashed was one that came to my mind. Just the cinematic aspect of that scene made it stuck in my mind as you really see starkillers power
“3 leaf clover” and “end of the line” are goated from the GTA series.
For me the heist mission in cyberpunk is definitely my favorite one its not so bombastic in terms of whats actually happening but its really immersive and the end of that mission really makes the emotions hit
I loved the Crash Site mission from Black Ops 1 with Sympathy For the Devil playing.
Liberty Prime* …liberty pride will most likely be in fallout 5 lmao
Now I want to see a Liberty Pride robot hahaha that’ll be awesome 🏳️🌈
While I do love Liberty Prime, you can literally complete this mission without attacking anyone.
patriotic garbage? I think you mean the gospel of freedom and liberty. Everything prime says about communism is 100% truth. it is straight evil.
COD MW2: The No Russian mission which I believe is one of the most iconic COD missions in the franchise and just a big part of the storyline.
The weed field burning to reggae jams in Far Cry 3 should have at least been an honorable mention.
We will be doing a part 2
Another not listed I'll never forget was Dom's sacrifice from Gears of War which was one heck of an emotional experience
With "All Ghillied Up", it's pronounced "Gi-lly" not "Giled", as in Ghilliesuit, the grass covered stealth suit you wear in the mission. Great video!
I had to rewind to make sure I heard that right.
Gameranx mispronounces words so frequently, at this point I'm convinced they're doing it on purpose in order to generate comments like ours.
@@lonestranger That’s exactly what they’re doing, it’s a well known and widely used tactic to generate comments.
It could be that the script got autocorrected to spell it as gilled because ghillied itself isn't a word that most spell checks would accept.
I think he is just a voice they hired. Hasn’t played a game in his life.
Playing through Ravenholm as a kid was super creepy, but hella fun! Thanks for including Half-Life 2, it's always nice to know I'm not the only one still thinking of that game lol
Pretty Hard to beat the Wild Hunts attack on Kaer Morhen, losing Vesemir... devastating.
I'm surprised it's not on this list, was definitely the most memorable mission for me in any game.
The helicopter chase scene was one of my favorites. And as goofy as it was the mission where you control the lion ants was fun as fuck.
If there's EP2 content then you better mention Vortal Combat. It's crazy well set-up and the ost gets you pumped up like hell. I also love the hunter ambush but the antlion battle just takes the cake to me.
Titanfall 2 had some of the best platforming ever. I had a blast just traversing through levels.
The Suicide Mission in ME2 is great, but the Human Reaper at the end of the mission is one of the most poorly executed final bosses ever.
The twist was crazy but not the gameplay. Lol
I agree.
The red dead mission really hits different if you play the second first, the first is my fav game ever
So true the first is underrated, legendary game
@@TOMMYDiG1TAL the second one is good, but took the first ones glory
@@CryloWolf for real I love the 2nd one but the first one is much more replayable imo just more fast paced and less tedious
Either one.
radio, pitcher, gnome, pitcher, block, gnome, bottle 👍
I really think the GTA 4 bank mission is the legendary mission that opened the doors for ones on GTA 5. It was a great mission indeed
👍🏼
Yeah it's called three leaf clover I think
Hell yeah, "Do Not pursue Lu Bu" was so fun but hard AF. In one of the other games in the Dynasty games my bro and I played co-op as higher-end characters and we still barely beat him!! As always what a great job Gameranx!!
The mission with BT throwing you in the air or the one with time manipulation
Both deserves a spot here
The most memorable missions I can think of right now. Is the Cyberpunk 2077 side mission. Where you up that prisoner to crucify himself.
Here is one amazing legendary quest that you certainly never forgot:
"ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN CJ!"
Red dead redemption is bloody amazing! I love the 1st one ❤
Too bad the 2nd one is horrible

“We Shall Be Together in Paradise” - RDR1. The mission itself isn’t special until you hit Mexico, and let me tell you, riding into the Mexico sunshine while “Far Away” plays in the background is something magical.
Absolutely love your videos.
Been watching for years.
Glad you like them!
The library in halo is probably the greateat mission fighting the flood for the first time. Idk not a halo fan boy, but it was epic the first time I played it.
The Sewer level in...every videogame ever.
😅
« Blast Pit » in Half-Life 🥰
More like a chapter than a « mission », but damn, Half-Life did a really great job of modernizing what were FPS games... 🥰
1st mission of Homeworld. The chilling realisation that they are not alone in the universe, and the following mission when they return to Karak. Coupled with the artistic cutscenes and the voice acting, so much feels. Bonus points for the levels in the nebula, and what you are forced to do there. So many amazingly done levels, one of the best games ever made, hands down
No one's left... Everything's gone... Kharak is burning.
I didn't even know they had that planned for ME3! What a shame, because the final battle for ME3 was otherwise chaotic and thrilling.
Halo in general was very memorable, for me it was Assault on the Control Room that was one of the standouts, Halo and Truth and Recon were up there too. I also played as a child so of course i remember it differently than playing it now.
I wont say the name of the game, but don’t act like you didn’t blow up the church in that AC-130 mission.
The chatter when they steal the jeep is still engraved, as the operator laughs at the driver and says "He's scared sh*tless." "Copy that".
Why won't you say the name?
The Straw Meet Camel misson in Marvel's Spiderman is still one of my favorite missions to replay over and over.
Mr. Freeze bossfight in Arkham City was amazing
My epic mission is Burn, Baby, Burn from Far Cry 5. The music in that one and lighting the druggies on fire was just awesome to me.
I remember the Halo level as the one where you have to face two hunters alone, because this was the first level I played without co-op
SAME! I was like, how am I supposed to flank these monsters without a friend to help me!?
Battlefield 3's Spec-Ops Mission Hit & Run, I still remember crystal clear.
Was playing coop with my girlfriend at the time, and at the end when you both get into that SUV, and blast your way out of a Musuem Parking Garage with French Rap blasting in the background.. that moment is permanently engrained into my brain till this day.
Even though it's a repeat of Fallout 3's ending I've got to go with The Nuclear Option in Fallout 4 if you side with the Brotherhood
Medal of Honor Allied Assault the Normandy Beach landing is the most memorable in any game
That's easily one of my fondest gaming memories...it blew my mind.
I loved the "Effect and Cause" mission in Titanfall 2. I'd play an entire game based around that mechanic.
Saints Row 3 - Crashing the Party (Jump out of Helicopter Mission)
