Crooked believes that we need a better conversation about politics, culture, and the world around us-one that doesn’t just focus on what’s broken, but what we can do to fix it. At a time when it’s increasingly easy to feel cynical or hopeless, former Obama staffers Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor have created a place where people can have sane conversations that inform, entertain, and inspire action. In 2017 they started Crooked with Pod Save America-a no-bullshit conversation about politics. Since then, we continue to add shows, voices, and opportunities for activism, because it’s up to all of us to do our part to build a better world. That’s it. End of mission.

May my sisters in Ohio vote with their daughters in mind. Keep democracy free. Keep reproductive rights free. 🎉
Michael Moore has a really good point---Trump is _lucky_ to be an American!
“That Trump will be tried for his coup attempt is not a violation of his rights. It is a *fulfillment* of his rights. It is the *grace* of the American republic. In other systems, when your coup attempt fails, what follows is not a trial.” --Timothy Snyder, Yale history professor
You only have to do something for the first time. ONCE.
Excellent point!
I'm embarrassed to be from Iowa. Most of our " brains " have moved with their BLUE votes!
Trump should thank God that he doesn't live in Romania. If memory serves me, the president there, along with his lovely wife, were taken out and SHOT, when their corruption became too much for the people.
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿
Voted no here in OH about an hour ago. Today was the very first day I’ve ever had to wait to cast a ballot. I feel cautiously optimistic!
Thank you so much for shouting out Ohio!! We got this! (Also Biden can absolutely say “while my opponent is under multiple indictments, my campaign is doing X, Y, Z. He can comment on the fact of the case while drawing a contrast okbye!)

Biden can also tout his accomplishments vs. trump's empty promises, such as infrastructure and bringing good paying jobs back.
"Aspirational". The next time I commit a crime, I'm just going to tell the judge, "No, your honor! I wasn't "robbing" that minimart, I merely had *aspirations" of receiving money from them!"
Kochservative Speech is more free than other Speech
This is like a tv series that started in 2015 and we are in season 8. We even get to see different characters, new and recurring. Seems melania was cut out after season 5.
Will 2024 be the series finale?
Good luck to all the voters in Ohio! Thank you so much to each and everyone of you for getting out the vote at this unusual time for the special election. This could not be more important.
I voted early on Issue 1 in Ohio. Am registered Republican, though lately I've been voting Democrat. And I voted NO on the second day of early voting.
Bless you and hopefully many of your State! 🙏🏻🇺🇸⚖️💙
I'm hopeful it will be voted down. @@audreywellham2413
I may be a liberal Democrat, but I hope you continue to vote blue so you get your state back. Saving democracy is bigger than a political party.
Issue 1 in Ohio may have been triggered by the reproductive rights amendment, but it’s so much more insidious than that.
The republicans are basically using the issue of abortion to reflexively get voters to cede their power to the legislature-basically ensuring that the legislature will be the only avenue of getting issues to the ballot.
It hurts my head that some Ohioans don’t see it.
Yes, this would further consolidate the power of the already corrupt Republicans, who have gerrymandered our districts. @@robynnordstrom7799
Desiree Tims is amazing man. I love her approach of making the voter the hero. I would have never considered that.
If you are from Ohio, I hope your state crushes this anti democratic motion. I'll be thinking of you today.
Also, going soccer nerd here
The US Women's team lost because they faced a woman in the Swedish net that went full Tim Howard against Belgium in 2018. While they missed opportunities, they weren't the best team in this tournament. They were put in bad situations by the manager and looked like they played down to competition. They also suffered injuries to some of the key players that were able to paper over the cracks of the team and no one stepped in to fill the gap.
It was a series of unfortunate events and they still were inches away from winning that match.
Ms Tim's has a wonderful idea to get voters interested in voting. Hope it works in Ohio so others will pay attention.
"Your honor, this an issue of free speech." - Charles Manson's lawyer
He also had a lot of dutiful minions
"... aspirational speech - expirational speech, aspirational extirpation ! um, SPEECH!"
Loved this episode! You guys are my favorite news-casters.
And I loved that woman reporter (about 25 minutes in) who pushed DeSatan to "answer yes or no"...and finally admit that 'Of course, Trump lost the election'. OMG!
Desiree Tims is a great guest! Thank you for your campaign to “make the voter the hero” and for everything you’re doing! 🙏💪🇺🇸
Middle one is funny
Ms. Tims is super smart, and a phenomenal communicator! I'm so glad that she and so many other brilliant and dedicated people are fighting for these issues that matter so much 😊
Ah yes, soccer cup losses, a well known symptom of infernal doom. Over here in Europe it happens all the time and so we are all on fire!
Star witness Mike Pence?? Of Hang Mike Pence fame??? Say it ain’t so 😂
Pence went from people wanting him to be hanged at a gallows to being a star. That's the Glow Up of the century!
Well a racist white person don't believe a white person can do anything wrong
Verdura translates as vegetables, not truth.
Thank you I thought that’s what he said 😂 I think he meant vero
Always glad to see a new episode! Thank you for keeping us informed.
"If you come after me, I will come after you." And what? Lock them up like you locked up Hillary? 😂
Voted NO here in Ohio today, this is disgusting what there doing!
Congratulations!! 🎉 Well done OH🎯
BS I voted yes. Where did you go to school. Since when is 60 percent. Equal rights. Oh I forgot. Ohio is corrupt as hell
I love listening to you guys. But my God, it's depressing to hear how cynical and corrupt US politics is today
Do all of you feel as exhausted about this Trump era as me?
@lhoward9593 yes. So tired of the antagonism, misinformation and division in our country. I imagine this is similar to how people felt in the 60s with the fights over: peace/hippie movement, Vietnam and Civil rights
@@lhoward9593 The problem is trump and his lawyers have shown the glaring flaws in the political and legal system and also America's obssession with celebrity and people with money. If anything would be learned from this, then great. But nothing will change.
I have started to limit my news intake, which I did back when Trump was President. I will stay informed, but I have to take care of my own mental health.
That's one of the goals of the Republican Party. If you're not a right-wing crazy, you're going to be tempted to stop paying attention. Most Americans have already, as far as I can tell. But a lot of that happened before Trump, when most Americans couldn't even be bothered to vote.
why does a billionaire need $ for legal fees
You don't expect him to spend his own money like normal folks. 😂
He also might not necessarily be a billionaire ( ALLEGEDLY, I don’t want to get dragged to court by Donald 😂). Lawyers are very expensive and fees can rack up into the millions real quick. Why would he spend his own wealth that he squirreled away when he could beg his working class voters to spend their rent money on him ?
Trump's apparent inability to grasp the seriousness of the situation he's in could be a great reason for the judge to make a sharp turn and remand him for a 30 day observation and FULL mental health examination to clarify whether he is mentally ill or a criminal.
OMG I dream of him and Guiliani (in his civil case) being ordered to undergo a compentency exam. Trump can impress a psychiatrist with his ability to say "man, woman, person, camera, tv" or whatever it was.
both ill and criminal
Lovett's "come after" joke was underappreciated by Favs and Tommy. 🤣
Great interview. I like that message about centering the voter. I was very disappointed when the second impeachment failed, but the democracy held because of the voters. And regardless of what happens in any trials, we can save democracy again in 2024.
I’m always so excited when your videos pop up. I don’t work off the homestead anymore so days kinda blend together so it’s always a surprise lol.
Another benefit for Gavin Newsom debating DeSantis: since DeSantis is the second-place candidiate on the Republican side, it elevates Newsom to a similar level. Would position him well for 2028
i like gavin newsome. Also like Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan. Those 2 would make a great ticket for 2028. Democrats need new blood
Or Rankin/Porter in 2024, 2028, and beyond.
Christie is only acceptable if he's co-hosting opposite Lovett. Big Abbott & Costello energy.
Good luck Ohio! 🙏
The more I read/listen about American politics and especially the Republicans, the more often I say “What The Fuck!” 😳😳😳😳😳
Good morning everyone!
Yes, I voted. Yes issue 1 was defeated. I was so proud to see all the women voting. ❤
Trump got the Lawyer Lauro out of a Cracker Jack Box
are you saying he is a magic decoder ring 💍or a monster tattoo? 👾
The meth house
Lauro is anything but a hack. He's got a good track record. Trump must have put up a load of cash - already in Lauro's account - to get him. Don't count him out.
Re: Ohio’s Issue 1, It is more than changing the current 50+1 to 60%. There is also the change in petitioning that now has to be filed for 44 counties that would increase to all 88 counties! This would present a huge challenge as many are rural and making contact would be difficult. Another obstacle they want to create is over the petition cure period. Currently if signatures are determined to be invalid, petitioners have 10 days to collect & file more signatures. Under passage of issue 1, petitioners would have to start the whole collection process over again!
VOTE NO on Issue 1
The fact that Chris Christie brought Zelensky a somewhat thoughtful gift made it a bigger news story. Which likely Zelensky appreciated - as well as a high profile GOP person showing his support. Bold move, Christie. Hey, if you don’t really have a shot, why not try to nudge world peace again a bully.
Not sure if it will help with Snookie - who called Christie “a bully”.
Oh God please…PLEASE march this man-baby to jail! I promise not to have popcorn and champagne, I won’t take _any_ pleasure in it. 🤞🙏
The frustrating thing is that there is nothing that will happen when he does share info. They’ll maybe stick him on an ankle monitor and that’s it.
Great work (and interview) Desiree. I just looked at early results and it is looking very promising for the No side :)
Don't think if you where holding a gun to his head would stop Lovett making that gag joke
I am in no way tired of supporting Ukraine.
Greetings from Italy. Mamma mia! Someone tell Trump’s lawyer that “verdura“ doesn’t mean “true” in Italian - it means “vegetable”. (“Vero” is the word for “true”). 😂😂😂
I like these guys. Fun and informative.
Yes I supported Biden from the beginning and watched his streams. I thought Biden wouldn’t win but thank goodness for other states to make Biden the nominee
“Aspirational Ass” ? Might have heard that wrong. I like it.

Already voted early in Ohio. Big NO for this charade.
Desiree's comment about "Making the vote the hero" is by far one of the smartest things said in regards to campaign strategy, and I'd like to point out that it was said by a black woman. I really appreciate the diverse voices represented in the interviews, and would want to one day see it us represented in the host line up as well. Good work!
Trump learned to act tuff from TV pro wrestling, legal strategy from Roy Cohn, and he learned deny and delay from his father.
Well - as to the “pause the count” - it doesn’t really matter because a -delay- is -also- a violation of the statutes. So sure he asked to pause - it’s still a crime. 🤦♂️
I'm not the biggest Biden fan but I kind of want a dark Brandon mug!!
I thought “verdura” was Italian for “vegetable”
It is. The word for "true" is "vero."
It's all he is doing, whinning about me me me. Trying really hard to keep politicizing his Criminal case. He is the most disgusting supposed human being ever Spawned on this country. They need to treat him exactly like any traitor should be treated .
The majority of this country wants him gone sit his ass in jail.

Thank you Ohio Democrats and activists for working so hard against these criminally corrupt fascists. As a resident of Oklahoma, where women’s rights have been trampled, I’m so proud of you. The whole country is watching. 🤞💪🇺🇸
I wasn’t able to vote b/c my ID has my first last name in my middle name spot, and I had no idea they were being so draconian about voter ID now. I’m holding my breath b/c if we can’t pass this issue they want to ban contraceptives next, and that will trickle to your state. I’m holding my breath all day today. Ngl, I’m a bit worried.
Until I turned 30 (five years ago), I consistently moved between 2x - 2.5x a year, and could claim residence in 17 American states total + 4 other countries through studying/teaching abroad. Despite that meaning, yes, up until 10th grade, I had never gone to the same school two years in a row, I didn't resent moving. I enjoy seeing and exploring new places, and even as a child I took a very studious approach towards how I compared and contrasted the states, including "the way they teach the civil war" and "if they think y'all is an informal plural form of you" or "uneducated slang by people who dont understand you is already plural". Despite living in all these unique places, there are less than a handful of states I would consider something like a "home state" since when most people ask that, what they DON'T want to hear is, "well, I was BORN in North Carolina, but we lived there less than a year-".
Somewhere high on "places that are close enough to home" is Ohio. I only lived there a year, but my dad's family is from the area and I spent many summers there. I even learned how to support The Ohio State Football and, more importantly, The Best Damn Band In The Land. When I lived there, I was much younger and not as politically active/knowledgeable, though my family is conservative Catholics.
However, I remember my Catholic school being surprisingly liberal (more accurately, despite this being back the start of the 2000, this catholic school curriculum would have the current toxic sect of "parental rights" advocates absolutely bemoaning how it's so "woke" and "grooming") at leasts in regards to subjects. For instance, all 8th graders had an mandatory "Reproductive Health Education" semester where the teacher made us each stand up and go around the room and say, "penis" and "vagina" repeatedly until we could use these medical terms without giggling (true fact, and also very effective as even today my immediate reaction to hearing these words in any context is, "that's the proper and accurate medical terminology, not a curse word or swear"). Throughout all my different schools in various states I had a grand total of five sexual health courses: 6th grade (seperate girl and boy video tapes about puberty), this one in 8th grade, a short sexual safety course in 9th grade (look we're not gonna show you a condom, tell you how effective the pill is or even mention vasectomies - that's too close to putting responsibility on guys - but we WILL tell you that if you're not willing to wait for the one you love, they would probably appreciate not sleeping with everyone YOU have) and finally a whole semester in 12th grade. A whole semester for what in Georgia is all the sex ed a public school student will get.
It basically amounted to four months of being told horror stories of pregnant prom queens, how abortions make you infertile, some scaremongering about how if you're gay or marry a gay man you WILL get AIDs (seriously, the video never said "gay" but it also was obvious made in the 80s and avoided even using the term HIV - seriously feel like it might have still been widely known as GRID when this video waas creative - and followed some men who lived toegther and were filmed roller blading around San Francisco in short shorts together in case we somehow missed the subtext) and any other abstinence only "education" method you've heard of. If you notice that's only four, its because my teacher for that class openly campared "homosexuals" to "pedophiles" and I just walked out and went to the guidance counselor and was told.... You can't skip class because you disagree with the teacher, they have a right to their religious views. So, I did exactly that and failed and then had to retake the course as summer semester so I coild graduate. Seriously.
I will always be thankful for that strangely educational Catholic sex ed class. Its where I learned "Actual" vs "Perfect Use" statistics for all major forms of bc, and not nonsense numbers meant to frighten you but actual, accurate statics. They're probably very out of date but I remember the pill's perfect usage effective precentage was lime 98% but then its actual usage was like 90% and my teacher stressed thats why you need ro follow instructions, also always consider using a condom as well since not only does it protect against against pregnancy but also most STIs. They also stressed having empathy for those who end up pregnant or who get sick, and even spent extra time coverjng HIV in order to emphasize that "diseases were not punishments" and we shouldn't judge someone's entire life because of one event. It was so educational compared to what most students get... I once had to turn around on a Georgia Tech trolley to explain to this Mechanical Engineering student why, no, the pill does not protect against STIs and who told you you can't get herpes from giving oral!? How can you be so smart and yet so utterly underinformed.
I don't know why Ohio decided that this one Catholic school in the upper part of the state would be the sole school in America that would see fit to provide its entire student body at an appropriate age - 8th grade but even 6th or 7th grade would have been fine, I think - since it's largely prior to the majority of sexual activities but old enough that many of the students will have already been exposed to plenty of "information" on these subjects. It's come in handy countless times, and was always SO grateful I was exposed to real information and facts instead of going into my senior health ed class completely blind with absolutely no prior information covering the subject. Meaning I would have completely lacked the background of factual information, actual statistics and research and even being trusted with scientific consensus. If I hadn't had that, I may have just accepted claims like, "the most common side effect experienced by women after having an abortion was infertility. Something to think about, you may be going because you wanted to wait, because its not a good time, but then you're never able to have children again". I personally hadn't been involved in prochoice activism, but thanks to my actual sex ed years before I knew better than to listen when we wrre told, "women under 25 engaged in extramarital affairs are 9x more likely to have an abortion due to it's 'convenience' That's why pro abortion advocates have to try so hard to destory all the laws there for patient safety, they know that most women use abortions rather than bc because they think murder is convenient" or "70% of young woman will go on to have an abortion, 70%. Women who have abortions are not only more likey to be single mothers with multiple kids, they tend to be in lower paid careers, make less income than young women who go on to have famillies, they tend to remain single and are less likely to end up married, they're more likely to have children from multiple fathers, and they're more likely to turn to substance abuse. Especially thanks to all the guilt most women carry with them, with those who have testified about their experiences talking about how they still dream every year on what would have been the child's birthday to stories about a husband leaving because their new daughter's laugh sounded just like he imagined their first child's. Remember, it's not just about the mother."
That class was sp disgusting and also very likely caused a lot of harm. In Georgia, the group most lilely to contract an HIV infection is heterosexual women, and studying AIDS only through the pov of a "gay disease" people get as punishment for being homosexual, just the entire ignorinng of homosexuality at all beyond HIV and being "the same as pedophiles" is shameful for a class meant to be abot sexual education, the pro-life anti-abortion propoganda that both laid the blame almost exclusively with women and then set off to manipulate young girls by both attempting to scare her into behaving (you'll be infertile! You won't get married! The guilt!) But also ignoring that to propgate the sterotype of a "loose" woman who can't keep a man or keep it in her pants. I mean, if anything sitting through my public senior health class was actively uneducational.
I will always think of Ohio when I think of sex ed. Come on, Ohio, I know that deep down you actually care about facts and science!
@@Gildedmuse Thank you for sharing your story! Ironically I was born in North Carolina too, and like you I was only there as an infant (until we moved back there when I was in high school.)
My dad was in the military so we moved around a lot, and later I continued that habit as an adult-feeling antsy after living in any one place too long. American politics gives me heartburn. I feel so sorry for Americans, everything about the Republican Party is insane.
You should ignore it. It’s much more trumped up on these pods. Most of us realize we hold the highest office of the land. Office of citizen and we despise the government.

Here's the question I have: Will The Defendant be successful in his effort to obstruct justice (AGAIN!) and thereby change the outcome in his favor by (1) intimidating and retaliating against witnesses, and (2) contaminating the jury pool.
We are observing him trying to cheat this case (illegally and in plain view) because it's in his interest to do so. He. Will. Not. Stop.
If the judge doesn't even attempt to prevent this, they are letting him go free and setting a precedent for how powerful people can stay above the law.
If by speaking in code, he can get people to chant "Hang Mike Pence" and by lying about a breath mint being a USB stick be can destroy a mother and daughters' lives, then yes, he can successfully taint the jury and dissuade witnesses from testifying.

Within Utah, Salt Lake City is known for being very liberal. They elected Rocky Anderson, who opposed the Iraq War before it started, called for Bush's impeachment, and traveled around the country speaking at rallies against the war and Bush. A vast majority of the rest of Utah felt like he was an embarrassment for being so liberal on a national stage, but he currently is one of the leading candidates to be mayor again after more than a decade since leaving office. While the rest of the state has a Democratic Party that is aggressively moderate (and sometimes even right of center), Salt Lake City is the opposite.
Putting Trump behind bars is the only thing that will motivate him to stop delaying the trials.
Taking him off all social media, TV and all other media and stopping him from appearing in public: These things would also really help everyone to see things more clearly. It might even make the world a better and slightly safer place too!

But, among the Republican candidates, Christie is the only one who sounds intelligent and presidential. Another benefit is that he's absolutely unafraid of Donald Trump and could debate circles around him if it ever comes to that. I would actually like Christie to become the Republican nominee. I could rest easier if that were the case.

If Trump wins Iowa in 2024, it's over. Candidates will drop out and Trump will only further consolidate the Republican primary vote.
"Trump must have seen that documentary and said GET ME THAT GUY!" 😂
Trump taught us that a lot of habits in government were not legislated, but were norms. So isn't it possible that a Secret Service protective detail after you are no longer president is just a norm? Then if Trump goes to jail, he wouldn't have to get a Secret Service detail.

We know the only possible way the behavior changes is when Trump actually goes to jail. So figure out what’s the best way to get him there for the court of public opinion, or live with the behavior and get the trail going as fast as possible and live with the behavior.
