I started listening to your pod shortly after that, starting checking out all the political content out there. Everything. I'm now a huge politics nerd and Pod Save America is by far my favorite. Anyhow, I hope this message finds you. Fantastic work. There is nothing out there as informative or with the level of insight or fun discussions than what you guys churn out constantly.
It's all so confusing, because sometimes when they say 'Congress' they mean the entire Congress (the House and the Senate) but sometimes 'Congress' means just the House. Congressman = House of Representatives. Senator = Senate. I'm discovering the House and Senate for each state too. I hope the Independents and Democrats are strong enough to beat MAGA back into the depths of wet cement where it belongs.

According to Georgia law, a defendant must be held without bail if they pose a risk of intimidating witnesses. I know Trump won't be subject to this and probably won't be required to post bail, so I look forward to that being used as precedent for all the criminal defendants of Georgia as backdoor bail reform.
Will you guys soon be discussing the November elections this year? Virginia General Assembly, gubernatorial races in Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississipi, and ballot initiatives in Ohio.

I get your point, but that doesn't mean that talented people, who happen to be media personalities, should not run for high office. Doesn't mean all of them should. I think she would be great! She is charming, intelligent, elegant, confident, has common sense and a good sense of humor and is an excellent communicator. She was highly successful in both the Obama and Biden administrations well before she started with MSNBC. That's why they hired her and I thought the Network were very smart to do so. What can I say? Just like state constitutions and statutes are generally able to add to federal law without conflict in other areas. It seems particularly reasonable in the context of American presidential elections, where we don't have a unified national popular vote at all, but each state is actually conducting its own separate process to choose its own electors. The electoral college is then the aggregate of 51 state-level contests, each with its own rules, _except_ just this one area, of minimum standards for the presidential candidates, that states are not permitted to elevate for some reason.

I found ages 5 and 2 to be difficult because of the conflict between the two of them all the time. The older one would take a toy away from the younger one, and the younger one had developed enough to realize that he didn't like that so would hit the older one. It seemed to be constant fighting at those ages. Tips for parents of younger ones: WRITE DOWN the cute and silly things your child (and your children) say. It's so wonderful to read them later on when they are young adults. There are some hilarious things my kids said and I'm glad to remember them.

I am going to correct you guys on one thing. Trump’s “Rafenaberger” call is not how the mob sounds in real life. I know this because my lawyer spent dozens of hours in the 1980’s listening to wiretaps while on the defense team for a very significant RICO case. Monsters use far more profanity and one almost needs subtitles or a translation. Sopranos is television…not, real life. What Trump DOES sound like is a very heavy and aggressive negotiation push by a 1980s New York (or any major US city) real estate developer who is pressuring an electrical sun-contractor to knock a million and a half off his price for light fixtures on a big office building project. In construction it is commonly called “beating up the sub” and is often done by contractors AFTER they submit a bid in order to enlarge their profit margin. This is Trump mis-applying his developer chops to an election. It is not illegal in the context of negotiating a price. It just “sounds” mobster-like. Some contractors actually pride themselves in putting the screws to subs. Sad but true. That said, it is totally inappropriate and IMO illegal in the context that Trump was using it.
To expand on the proffered analogy, Trump did not merely steal his neighbour's lawnmower, rather he denounced the legitimacy of how his neighbour mowed his lawn (election) and, thus, that his neighbour's lawn should never have been declared the certified winner of the Best Mown Lawn in the Neighbourhood (America). And this justified Trump's attempt to pilfer his neighbour's certified winning lawnmower.

Unfortunately, the judicial consensus is that states are not allowed to impose "qualifications" for president other than those in the Constitution.
Imagine if each state could legally determine which parts of the Constitution it chose to follow or adapt.

I'm not sure they realize that if they win they'll actually have to govern. Or worse, they know exactly what they'd do, but they know no one wants them to do anything they're planning so they just refuse to talk about it.

I found ages 5 and 2 to be difficult because of the conflict between the two of them all the time. The older one would take a toy away from the younger one, and the younger one had developed enough to realize that he didn't like that so would hit the older one. It seemed to be constant fighting at those ages. Tips for parents of younger ones: WRITE DOWN the cute and silly things your child (and your children) say. It's so wonderful to read them later on when they are young adults. There are some hilarious things my kids said and I'm glad to remember them.

Trump’s “Rafenaberger” call is not how the mob sounds in real life. I know this because my lawyer spent dozens of hours in the 1980’s listening to wiretaps while on the defense team for a very significant RICO case. Monsters use far more profanity and one almost needs subtitles or a translation. Sopranos is television…not, real life.
What Trump DOES sound like is a very heavy and aggressive negotiation push by a 1980s New York (or any major US city) real estate developer who is pressuring an electrical sun-contractor to knock a million and a half off his price for light fixtures on a big office building project. In construction it is commonly called “beating up the sub” and is often done by contractors AFTER they submit a bid in order to enlarge their profit margin.
This is Trump mis-applying his developer chops to an election. It is not illegal in the context of negotiating a price. It just “sounds” mobster-like. Some contractors actually pride themselves in putting the screws to subs. Sad but true.
That said, it is totally inappropriate and IMO illegal in the context that Trump was using it.
To expand on the proffered analogy, Trump did not merely steal his neighbour's lawnmower, rather he denounced the legitimacy of how his neighbour mowed his lawn (election) and, thus, that his neighbour's lawn should never have been declared the certified winner of the Best Mown Lawn in the Neighbourhood (America). And this justified Trump's attempt to pilfer his neighbour's certified winning lawnmower.

On that closing subject of baby due dates: my son was due on Jan 6, 2021. Considering the, uh, tragic historical nature of that day I am very glad he came early. I could have done without a Christmas Eve birthday, but as long as I take it as choosing between only his due date and his birth date, I definitely got the better of the two days.
