  • Happy New Year! I thank you all for subscribing and watching these videos! You are appreciated!
The Hsing-I / Xing Yi Crossing Fist is the fifth and final strike in this series. When I first learned this strike I was confused, because it was so similar to Drilling. As I looked deeper into this strike (which I knew had to be different) I found that everyone performed the strike in the same manner as Drilling.
I then found out how the Great Ch'ang Tung Sheng did Crossing, and it is how I practise it to this day! Enjoy.

If you learn the tiger hand and stance that goes with it, you can pretty much, use wingchun for the rest

4:35 I can see what you mean, i couldn't do hsing yi, until I started thinking half of it is wing chun, you just have to learn the split fist movements

its funny i looked at that that way of using heng as a blade application (targeting the flank)

2:21 its to devolope power, with all the limbs, but once you practice the post form you can bastarise it down

The foot work is pretty much wing chun, but it's easier.

RAPINCITE, I wouldn't know. I don't know much about Wing Chun. But, thanks for the insight.

TH-cam thumbnail image for this video has Taijiquan Master Hong Junsheng. Is there any connection between him and Xingyiquan ? I don't think, in fact I am convinced that Hong never did Xingyi. Another student of Chen Fa-Ke, Feng Zhiqiang, was a master of Xingyiquan before learning from Chen. Is there a mix up of the two masters ?

TaijiquanGaoshou...My apologies, I just saw your post. No mix up, I just liked the photo and thought they caught a good frame that looked close to what the video was about.

You have a great take on Xing Yi. Very unique. Interesting how Xing Yi never developed the hook until Wang Xiangzhai.

onemindonespirit...Yeah, I was surprised the first time I saw other peoples Hsing-I. I thought, "What in the heck are they doing?" Years later I saw a little boy in a tournament competing in the forms competition, and he was hitting hard and "fighting" good. I then seen him fight, and the boy was great. After the tournament I met with his parents and coaches, they were all Muslims, and then it made sense to me. GM Ch'ang was Muslim, and I even practised a form that is called Muslim Style Hsing-I. This is the difference, this is why it's unique. Thank you for noticing, I see that you have a great take on Xing Yi as well. Thanks for commenting your knowledge and insight as usual.

RC KRAUSMAN...Is this my RC KRAUSMAN? My teacher? One of my favorite teachers? The one who brought all of my knowledge together for me? The teacher that showed me how everything I did had more simplicity! The teacher that got me hitting an Iron Palm bag hanging up rather than laying flat! OMG, if it is my teacher, I have missed you greatly. There is nothing that I do (martial) that doesn't have your influence attached to it. You change and improved my whole martial arts world for the better! If it's you...if not, then RC KRAUSMAN, thank you for your comment and Happy New Year!

Crazy D Entertainment...Very well said! And it makes perfect sense, that one of the Hsing-I strikes would have to include some sort of shield 🛡!! This is why I do what I do. Every single "student" turns into a teacher. Thanks for your insights.

      Lol...no, I'm not sure. It's Hsing-I, it's Chinese, what else can I say?

Your Ch'ang Style Xingyi feels powerful.
I watch your execution and recreate it to the best of my observation but I know for a fact that there is always going to be something I miss.
Slowing down the video helps a lot, your Ch'ang Style looks more explosive than Che Style.
Gets hard to follow the movement.

Fist Arts - Ved Bhagirathee...My videos come out every Tuesday & Thursday. Tomorrow's video gives tips on Xing Yi and the connection with BaGua. Thursday's video will be on how Xingyi is a staple in Ch'ang Style Tai Chi. So, next week I will get into the basics (Slowed down) and with better instruction. @@TheIronandSilk already subscribed.
Your style is unique compared to everyone else but it seems to focus heavily on the "Don't get your ass beat" aspect of martial arts than the art.
I appreciate that, did your style of Xingyi also perform stance training? I saw the latest video on intent being the focus in Ch'ang, so how do you apply structure?

    • @TheIronandSilk
      @TheIronandSilk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Fist Arts - Ved Bhagirathee ...Lol, that's funny. You missed the point though. The focus is not on "Don't get your ass beat." The focus is on winning fights with my beloved Chinese Kung Fu!! The Chinese martial arts have become a joke all around the world and needs to be corrected.
With all of the Chinese styles, stances and postures are a staple within the training. This is where we learn about structure and connectivity. Mine was no different.
What is unique and different about the Hsing-I that I learned is everyone who trained with me was already advanced in the Chinese martial arts.
Take any Tai Chi class in this country or even in the world and tell me how many students in the class are proficient martial artists. This is the difference. I, like my brothers were skilled martial artists long before we learned Hsing-I, Tai Chi and Bagua. This is why I fell so deeply in love with the Internal Styles. It was easy to see why they are Internal. This is why one practicing these styles should be extremely good fighters.
Fist Arts-Ved Bhagirathee, the comments you've made let me know that you're educated in the Chinese styles. I'm glad you're here.

OhioShaolin...Thank you for sharing your wisdom. You do know that you're using a double negative in your statement. So, do you really mean, "Yes, crossing Hsing-I?" Amazing.
