- 2025 Chevrolet C8 Corvette ZR1 review by The Straight Pipes. The C8 ZR1 is putting down 1064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque from a 5.5L Twin Turbo V8. @@rlsedition we're in a world where a fully loaded Camry is over $40k before taxes. It has solid engineering, build quality and is built to a standard. If GM has a problem with any of those 3, THAT would explain why they can't sell actual cars that aren't SUV's, a Trax/Encore and pickup trucks.
You're telling me with all that engineering talent that's there they can't make a competitive Malibu or Impala that competes at that price point, and build quality consistently? If they can't... they need to lock the accountants in a closet somewhere and only allow their input where necessary.

Hybrid will be the cake topper, 1200HP+ down low. The chassis is already designed to accommodate it and implementation wouldn't be too difficult based on E-Ray . Cant wait

The fact that I can tell this isn't even the C8's final form and it's already at hyper car levels is insane. I just get a feeling that they're gonna have this power plant and electrification coming soon.

People often say the best car era was the 60s. I would argue we're in the best car era right now with manufacturers producing these amazing vehicles, both on the ICE and EV sides. I don't think there will ever be another era like this when manufacturers are going all out crazy with the end of big engines coming near. Love it!
Arguably this is the era when companies lie about emissions. Like baseball juicing era was the most exciting.

Hennessey Venom Gt Spyder is the worlds fastest convertible at 265.5 mph. Koenigseggs dont classify their vehicles as convertibles, theyre just called removable roofs, like the corvettes. Traditionally convertibles have a moving roof

That's a HUGE range to maintain 800+ ft/lbs.
Wow! Didn't expect the ZR1 to produce those kind of numbers. I can't wait to see the Zora. I can imagine the Zora would be an AWD hybrid version of the ZR1 reaching 1200+ hp.
I hope the zora can find a way to tweak the engine, turbos, cooling, and maybe even the electric motor so that it could get closer to 1,300 horsepower. Either way, if the Zora comes out, it’ll be a full blown hyper car!

The Corvette team was held back for so many decades and did a great job on front mounted... not my taste in design, especially the interior, but the engineering has ALWAYS been impressive as hell, especially price/performance. The physics to go over 200mph is just nuts.

I think the thing that Chevy should be most proud of the history behind the Corvette... Despite the path they've taken, they've still managed to do every past model justice. This thing is a masterpiece and I'm sure any corvette enthusiast would be more than happy to have one.

You could buy 2 zr-1's or 1 GTD. And I think quarter mile will definitely be faster in zr1 and probably similar track times.

Maybe you should have better comprehension skills. The engine is still placed in front of the cab. I didn't say anything against the mid engine layout. Which still means I'm correct regardless of how you want to look at it. GM has some of the best chassis tuning in the world where they can get heavier vehicles to handle brilliantly. Also note I didn't say to make the Camaro as quick as the AMG black series. I said to make it as quick as the C7. Which shouldn't be a difficult task now that they have the C8 out. Only problem is commitment to produce such a vehicle.

He is as excited about this as we are. When I hear all the people complain about regulations taking away the joy of driving cars I laugh because I have owned a 69 442 with 455, a 68 Chevelle with 396, a 68 Mustang with 390, a 70 Chevelle with 454 and stock these cars I love could not beat a hopped up Subaru WRX with a flat four.
It was the Muscle Car era for sure I was raised in and smog tech and embargos hurt it but the engineers, as engineers always do, found a way to be safer, more powerful and faster. So this is the Engineer Car era.
I love all my cars I pretty much built all myself. It was a time when I could pick them for McDonald’s after school money in the 70’s as a teen because they were just old cars with too big of an engine when gas prices were too high to use them daily because they were all under 10 mpg.

Amazing! What a masterpiece. I feel lucky to live in an age where a Corvette breaks the 1000 hp mark. It'd be a bucket list moment to drive this on the Nurburgring, Le Mans, or Isle of Man (or all 3).
As an owner of a 900hp S550 stang I salute Chevy for this ZR1. Factory Rwd Twin turbo mid rear engine v8 supercar, you can't get much better than this. I'm sorry to all the Ford fans but the GTD is clearly below this ZR1 and will continue to be so until Ford introduce a high end stang with new body lines and a genuine rear mid engine boosted v8 power plant.
