It's amazing listening to engineers casually talk about ~6 years worth of work and development on a car that will likely break a ton of records like it's no big deal.
It really isn’t. I’ve been building fast supercharged, turbo’s cars for many years. It is nice to see a manufacturer do it if that’s what you mean. They are actually building stuff we’ve been doing in the aftermarket for years which is great to see. Why they waited till the government is trying to get rid of the ICE is what’s disappointing. Better late than never though

Sure you can buy all the parts and assemble an extremely nice vehicle, that is both quick, fast, and handles well, but it’s just that, you’re mostly buying premade parts, and putting them on a vehicle, sure some custom work is performed, but it’s nothing, technologically speaking compared to what GM is doing. GM is literally starting from scratch. They forged pieces of metal, and cut them into complete working engines, and more. The engine design, suspension system and all the that’s involved in proper layout and setup, and making it all work together, and then be so confident in your vehicle that you provide a warranty on it, and know that it is going to be popular and it will sell hundreds of thousands of them. etc etc. it is all on a whole other level compared to what you do

A ETS twin turbo regular engine C8 has done the quarter mile in 8.64 seconds @ 170 MPH. Wonder just how fast this ZR1 will be? This time is faster than a Lucid Sapphire and comes very close to the Nevera which costs $2.4 million!

Honda regrets that it stopped producing the Acura NSX. The battery position on the Porsche 918 was set in that position because Honda had a patent on it, and GM can make anything on the Chevrolet Bolt HEV with a single platform. Mazda knows this. You can see it when you look at the production plant for the ND Roadster (MX-5).

Reminds me of being in 7th grade in 2001-during this time, there was a lot of nightly news reports about how backpacks were screwing up kids backs-and there was this legit effort to get kids these backpacks with wheels. It was a small-ass 7th-12th HS, and the only people with those packs were the kids, and the older kids *brutalized* them. Bigger the pack, the harder they were getting fucked with………that’s all I was think about during that whole interview.
GM is trying to capture a younger buyer (and is succeeding, BTW) - so GM allowing this interview makes more sense. These smart, ball cap wearing, backpack lugging kids online are earning more bank than their parents.

Just go to car and driver, or just listen to the reveal video. It was clearly stated that the ZR1 top speed and I quote from the reveal video: The ZR1 top speed goes comfortably over 215 mph according to the ZR1 engineer at the reveal event in Mami on Thursday.

They made the biggest blunder when they allowed China to build the lifters that did nothing more than blow up. Come on guys get it together! Talk a big game on how fast the car goes but no one can seem to buy the car. Even your employees cannot answer the simplest question of what year the car will be, a 2025 or a 2026. I personally thing the project is a bust and the car will never come to light as so much money has been lost on the project. Like the chip to control the turbos. Not built in this country and held captive on a boat in a war and if it reached the Panama Cannel to expedite going through the cannel it cost a million dollars a ton. That is not going to happen. GM built nothing more than a wishful thinking car. Much better off building a Porsche. At least that car exists.
