- It's December! And that means Christmas LGR once again. Also clones, and I think they're getting weirder. As for the game itself, Xmas Ducks 2000 is another Lemmings variant at first glance. But then I played it and yep, this one surprised me! Ducks has some fascinating changes, rather excellent atmosphere... annnnd some really frustrating bits of gameplay. So it goes with MS-DOS puzzle games.

CLINT: Growing up as a PC gaming dork in the '90s, something I looked forward to each year was the inevitable release of wintry, holiday-themed DOS games.
ME: I was lucky to be able to borrow my cousin's original Gameboy just to play Tetris.
I don't really give a fudge about xmas but it's hard not to love Clint's love of xmas related stuff.

I have not seen this game in years. I have completely forgotten about this until I saw the logo for this game. This game creeped me out as a kid when the ducks died.

Add to this the Soviet/post-Soviet tradition to celebrate New Year's eve as the main winter holiday instead of Christmas, and also for some "Old New Year" according to Julian calendar (January 14 on Gregorian), and throw in Hanukkah, and it all makes into very busy winter times.
It's always rather adorable travelling on international trains in the end of December, after Brest or Vyborg, suddenly, past Terespol or Vainkkala there are candles in windows outside even if the "other side" still has a week before the "main event".
