I've seen the Boss one out in the wild. In a musical instruments store to be exact. It was the orange DS-1 version, modeled after their iconic distortion box. The manager always jokingly said that being a mouse was the best use of the DS-1 since he found it a bit of a shitty sounding distortion.

DS-1 could sound good with a good tube amp and proper settings, but yeah it was kinda empty and fizzy sounding and there were better ones like Proco RAT or SansAMP with more amp-like sound. The DS-1 was pretty good base for modding to remove it's flaws. Also the built quality of BOSS effects pedals was very good and they became a standard on stage. I remember times when even the shittiest guitar effects were really expensive. Now we can buy top notch studio quality sounding pedals even for $20 with die cast metal case and durable metal footswitch. Many of them are based on high-end pedals that are sounding very close to the originals. BTW, having a mouse that looks like a guitar stompbox is quite weird idea...

I'd argue that ergonomics were _better_ back then, novelty mice notwithstanding. Today, everyone is using a laptop with a touchpad and a tiny flat keyboard, with their necks bent down to look at the tiny screen. Or worse: their phones. It's awful. Desktops are going the way of the dodo, at least for average home users.

I had some Star Trek: TNG computer accessories, but none of the ones pictured on the package in this video. There was a shuttlecraft floppy disk holder, which for some reason was blue. It was just a solid piece with a square hole cut out in the top, without any sort of lid. There was also a keyboard and a "monitor mask", both of which were also blue. The "monitor mask" was basically a plastic picture frame that you would put on your CRT monitor. IIRC, it was too small for the monitor we had at the time. I had the Little Tikes mouse. It was surprisingly comfy for my little six year old hand, and came with a copy of Jump Start: Preschool, of all things. Too bad I was already in First Grade! I had a hand-me-down eMachines PC at that point and Internet access was limited to the family computer, there was no phone line in my room and it would be a few years before we got broadband and WiFi, so no JuniorNet for me lol. I'm pretty sure these things were recalled, though. Also, what lost souls were trapped in that Star Trek mouse?!

I want that phaser mouse (and all the related accessories of course). I’m surprised I missed this back in the day. I had a lot of Star Trek toys. My favorite was a tricorder. I used to “scan” everyone and everything. I’m sure I annoyed my parents with it.

I before E except after C. Or W as in weird. Or R as in reign. Or B as in beige. Or F as in feign. Or E as in seeing. Or L as in leisure. Or S as in seize. Or K as in keister. Or N as in neither. Or G as in ageist. Or V as in vein. Or H as in heist. Or by itself as in eight.
What could have possibly gotten our teachers to put this idea into our heads?

Can anyone who was taught the "i before e" nonsense in school chime in real quick and tell me where/when it was you were told it? I'm really curious about it. I mean I spent like 20 straight minutes thinking of all of that just because OP made a typo and clearly already knows how to spell the word, that old mnemonic just popped into my head and triggered the absolute shizz out of me. I hope that saying has died out...

    Interesting oddware mice.
That "little tikes" mouse brings back memories... I do remember servicing a couple of those Young Explorer setups many years ago, IIRC for a kindergarten. These have IBM ThinkCenter mini-towers inside them. That JamCam toy camera looks familiar ar well. I think I had one years ago, someone gave it to me for free. Interestingly, it supported serial as well as USB for transferring photos. Photo quality was non-existent, but that was to be expected for a toy.
