This song brings back so many memories!! I was in middle school when this song came out. I think the craziest thing is that we can remember exactly what we were doing and where we were when a certain song came out. To move for college, out of the town I grew up, away from my friends and family, the memories I became so overwhelmed with. A difficult but necessary, life-defining moment. This song is what changed me after me and my current ex of almost 5 years left each other.... it still hurts! But...l gotta keep moving on even though there's guys that want me. I just saw the Buffy Episode again. I forgot how much this song reminds me of my ex of 10 years many years ago. He had a cocaine problem and then I find out in couple’s counseling he had been molested by an Aunt. Sadly he wasn’t willing to go thru the Therapy at the time and still continued to use. It was the hardest thing for me to do was break up with him . We had such a history. I still have love for him.

As someone who had survived probably the most painful break up a person could have (one where you don't get closure and proceeds to haunt you in the next years of your life), I always tried to sing this song and really mean it. I'd say this song has helped me a lot to get to that light at the end of the tunnel and let go of those painful memories to move on and create new ones.

I wish I could personally tell Michelle Branch thank you. Going through what I’m going through right now, I thought of this song. Hearing it and seeing the video make it so relatable beyond words. 3 years, all pretend, memories in Sequoia/Yosemite, him being my shooting star, a goldfish, hotel rooms while traveling, wanting everything and nothing at the same time… it’s painful and hauntingly nostalgic.
