I haven’t listened to this song since middle school but it’s still so powerful how it resonates. This, for me, was a shift in the show. Buffy relied so much on her friends and loved ones but now the family has splintered off at the exact time she needs them the most. She seeks comfort in Spike because she doesn’t need to wear a mask of happiness around him. She can just be hurt and damaged. Willow and Tara’s breakup devastates Dawn because she knows she can’t rely on Buffy as she’s always distant and not really present. Willow without the love of Tara to anchor her casts her adrift. Xander and Anya are around but they’re focused on their upcoming nuptials. And Giles, the surrogate father leaves which signals they need to all stand on their own two feet. Yet without his guidance and care, they all succumb to their worst impulses.
I agree. You can bunch seasons 1-3 together with the high school/finding it's feet phase, season 4 is a good stand-alone with college and growing up, 5-6 starts to get a bit darker but has something that makes it really work. Season 7, for me personally, just didn't feel like it belonged.

easily one of the most emotional moments, not even in the middle of watching a season or anything atm, but Michelle brings so much emotion, combined with characters we know and love so well, you're instantly plugged into the moment and hurting for all. so well done.
Star Trek Deep Space 9 and Buffy. I’d be perfectly fine just watching those shows forever. I’ve been a professional musician for 28 years, played all over the world and The Bronze is still my dream gig!
@@num1Jaystaat that time-when she came out-I felt like they were really pushing her on us. I was in college and worked at a record store, and we played her constantly. I do think time has softened my opinion of her music tho.
2021 here. This show was amazing, and can never be rebooted or remade. The powerful emotional scenes can only be done right once. Leave this show alone make sequels not REBOOTS. Poor willow even though she did that to Tara you cant help but feel so devastated for her. Giles should not have left, that was a huge mistake for him to retire thinking the slayer was a master of every situation and no longer needed his advice or help. ( Glorificus ) teaches them that lesson.
It would be great if Michelle could ever hunt down the original recording of this. I know there are a multitude of versions she's put out of "Goodbye to You" - the album version, single version, acoustic version, and the 20th anniversary album version. Still, this would be a phenomenal release to finally dig up from a vault somewhere. I'd probably start from the TV production side of things and work her way backwards to the recording studio. She's got A LOT of unreleased material that would make for an excellent deluxe edition release someday! Anyway, this makes me want to break out my DVDs and start a Buffy marathon that I haven't had in maybe a dozen years.
2023 and this is a fucking relic!!! This song has more emotion/depth than the acoustic version. The Spirit Room version of this song is more mellow but still good

To a place where I am blinded by the light
But it's not right
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew

And nothin' at the same time
I want what's yours, and I want what's mine
I want you, but I'm not givin' in this time

both season 5 and 6 and truly BTVS at its true heights.
I agree. You can bunch seasons 1-3 together with the high school/finding it's feet phase, season 4 is a good stand-alone with college and growing up, 5-6 starts to get a bit darker but has something that makes it really work. Season 7, for me personally, just didn't feel like it belonged.
Wished it could have continued longer. Still love this show now. Reminds me of my youth and the music they used for this show captured real emotion.
It’s 2022 and this song is still as good. Will they ever make a tv show that even compares to buffy?
They will never be able to make something like buffy the vampire slayer again
Quite a few, branch out of your bubble but that doesn't mean Buffy wasn't amazing
No I don’t think they will
@@MrIncendiarydevice like what? Doesn’t mean there aren’t great shows out there. Just saying they won’t make something like buffy ever again. I highly doubt it anyway
Battlestar Galactica is good (coming from a huge Buffy fan)
I sold my house and moved across the country, and Buffy was not on any of the channels at the hotel where we were staying. I saw the last 4 episodes 7 or 8 years later, but I saw this on MTV (remember when there was music on music TV), and it stuck with me as I missed out. The song made me so sad in a few ways. makes me cry almost cannot watch it but love the song so much.
No disrespect to the TVD fandom (and I love Bamon) but Buffy did it first and in my humble opinion did it the best! Oh how I love me some Spuffy 😊!
all the disrespect cause btvs >>>>>> tvd
I love this version, Michelle wanted to release it but the tapes were lost 😢. I’d kill for this version
I love this version and I loved how well they edited this show for it
2021 and this still gets me right in the same place it did back then!
easily one of the most emotional moments, not even in the middle of watching a season or anything atm, but Michelle brings so much emotion, combined with characters we know and love so well, you're instantly plugged into the moment and hurting for all. so well done.
2024 and still loving it
Buffy saved my life many times x
i'd be lying if i said this wasn't one of my most watched videos
The best version of this song, IMHO
Best version of this song, period?
I will forever love this show!
Star Trek Deep Space 9 and Buffy. I’d be perfectly fine just watching those shows forever.
I’ve been a professional musician for 28 years, played all over the world and The Bronze is still my dream gig!
Not a Michelle Branch fan BUT this song, specifically this version, freaking amazing!
How?
@@num1Jaystahow what?
@@jw6948 How are you not a fan
@@num1Jaystaat that time-when she came out-I felt like they were really pushing her on us. I was in college and worked at a record store, and we played her constantly. I do think time has softened my opinion of her music tho.
I remember watching this before going to school. I was a wreck lol.
one of the my favourite scene in the series
2022 and still one of the most emotional scenes I've seen on tv
Michelle's voice in this performance is incredible!
Beautiful version
Still here in 2022 absolutely love this song and series ❤
Streaming Buffy on tubi, and listening to all the good music from that show .
This version has so much emotion oh my god I’m gonna cry
The perfect break up song. It's so bittersweet.
Arguably the best series.
I can keep it together for 58 seconds, but as soon as I see Tara with the sweater in her hands my eyes get moist.
Simple is often better. Even without the visuals this version evokes more passion than the original, over produced, album track.
One of the best voices I have ever heard
( Glorificus ) teaches them that lesson.
everything about this brings back so many memories of my 1st girlfriend. 20yrs ago. what a fantastic time.
The Spirit Room version of this song is more mellow but still good
2024 and I'm still watching.
There is no other character like Buffy ❤
Love this whole series!!!❤
It’s not that people don’t like change. Shows like this remind you of how shallow things have become. Musicians aren’t like this anymore and neither is television. During this time the world had soul
This singer is doing the soundtrack in two of my favorite shows, Buffy and Bojack Horseman
What song did she do for Bojack?

This was my and my ex's breakup song. We were huge Buffy fans and our break up was the same time as this point in the series. Song still makes me weep all these years later.
after all these years im still distraught with the feels ugh
This video breaks my heart every time I see it but I love the song so much
Such a beautiful kiss!
Great song ,great show...i really miss it
Buffy it's a masterpiece ❤
That kiss though... kiss of the century!
I miss the early 2000s. So much to look forward to.
