The final functions of a dying mans brain.... Probably a suicide.... Maybe he was responsible in some way for the girls death - and his final dying thoughts are a tribute to her before he passes on....Great video - and great reaction guys! (I've been into PL since the early 90's - seen them play on nearly every tour since they toured Icon)

Most people dont realise that PL wax very philosophical, im aware of this as Im anti-religious IE the Athiest side of Existentialism ( yes I am an Existentialist) and the first song on the same album 'Darker thoughts' has MUCH more sub-tones than people think. Darker thoughts is NOT just about Darker thoughts its about the FOLLY of attempting to teach morality through religion 'god asks not to kill' and that religion has it all wrong (all of them) as the religious nutters think that those who do not have a religion are 'goddless therefore godless are sworn to kill and cause annihilation. So basically the sub-tone of Darker thoughts is the utter stupidity of attempting to tutor morals and ethics by way of religion and that those whom are 'godless' are closer to having true morals.
    Who would you rather trust?
A religious person whom only does 'good' things as a book/religion tells them to.
Or n on religious person whom has learned morality by making mistakes by trial and error and has learned morality by suffering the consequences of one's own choices and actions.
PL wax very Existential in most of their tracks-True belief is a classic example: THE SONG is about a man whom is suffering an Existential Crisis that he has realised this is no higher power than him and thus responsible for EVERYTHING he does and he is unable to cope with that and he wants to die!
I will mention the band in more forthcoming book Memoirs of an Englishman (An Existential Journey)
I have seen religious nutters first hand: I was one of the people in 1989 that worked at the infamous Sorcerers Apprentice Bookshop in Hyde Park-Leeds when it was Firebombed by these so-called Peace loving Christians. This was right after the HIGHLY disgraced TV presenter Roger Cooke of The Cooke Report invaded the shop and started denouncing people as 'devil worshipers' etc. Since im an Athiest-Existentialist and was working there for only a few months when I was a young student, then it is a little hard to "worship" something that I do not believe in, as in actuality I have NO belief whatsoever in anything.

The song is about his daughter's death and he commits suicide and the construction of the eye and burning it are the last thoughts going through his brain saying goodbyte to his daughter and the world as he dies!
