Paradise lost is one of the so called "Peaceville three" that are three bands considered pioneers in Doom and gothic metal genre. Other two are Anathema and My Dying Bride. So to follow this it would be great if you reacted to My Dying Bride - Your broken shore. Absolutely fantastic song that also includes strings!
Paradise Loste are cool and important. With an origin death metal thy later had a huge influence on gothic metal and are one of THE bands to mention for this genre. As it is obvious, there is also a doom element within their music. I saw / shot them once. And liked it 🤘
I recommend this one. Paradise Lost Pioneered doom and gothic metal way before the Nightwish clones. Paradise Lost actually do MUCH DARKER and I mean MUCH darker tracks, such as FALL from Grace, The Enemy and Faith Divides us-Death Unites us. Paradise Lost are Existentialists like myself and they often sing about death, existence, ANTI all religion etc. Darker thoughts is about the FUTILITY of teaching morality through religion. It's also sticks two fingers up at those who think that if you have no religion then you have no morals (God. Asks not to kill and godless sworn to kill)
Paradise Lost started the whole goth metal trail. Not sure why you call Nightwish clones cause they are nothing like Paradise Lost. Different genre, different format, different emotions. Can't compare the two. They are both epic in their own way.
Your channel and I should feel very proud: After I recommended this to you (from my old Christopher Cressey YT account) and you played it on here, there has been dozens of reactions based upon watching this video. I believe you were the first non-metal based reaction channel to have the brains and guts to play this.
Got three albums from the band on my shelf. All three over 10-15 years old. I completely lost sight of the band. 3:06 I've been waiting for this punsh. The song is not bad now, but not necessarily something for my playlist.
You don’t know it but you’ve reacted to two bands who share the same rehearsal building in Bradford, West Yorkshire, Uk. The other band being New Model Army. 😜 I grew up in the same area and have been lucky enough to have been surrounded by these two great bands my whole life. Neither has a bad album but have endured hard times, huge shifts in sounds and tough journeys but are still kicking and relevant 40+ and 30+ years later. If you want to touch on something else like PL then My Dying Bride are form the same town too and are another great band. If you feel like more NMA could I ask that you do a newer song like ‘Between dog and wolf’ or ‘End of days’. Thanks
And then you get to dance with songs like Ghosts, Mouth or One Second. They even have a synthpop album, 1995's Host. They are really the whole dark package. Love them
Careful with PL you really seem to drown in darkness, believe me this isnt dark compared to some of their stuff. If Darker thoughts is considered vanta black, then this track is Singularity black th-cam.com/video/9BONcpuDcrc/w-d-xo.html (contains lots of Nick's Clean lyrics)
I love Paradise Lost. Going to see them next month for the third time. If you want to hear them at their heaviest and doomiest, try their song 'Beneath Broken Earth'. Amazing song. th-cam.com/video/55XlIPzY5q0/w-d-xo.html
I listened a lot to Paradise Lost back in the 90's. They were kind of niche back then. I never heard of anyone else knowing about them. Can't believe they are still around and clearly still as depressed. Imagine writing songs with absolutely no bright sides for 3 decades :D Looking back at my old CD shelf, it's is the album Host I remember best. And looking at the songs, maybe "Behind the Grey" is the one that stuck most with me since then. So maybe give that a listen. If it even has a video.
Yup I remember suggesting this to Mike and Ginger. Being a Yorkshireman im naturally a big PL enthusiast, actually PL are VERY big in Europe and Japan just not in America. In their whole back catalogue I have actually found two happy sounding songs with Shadowkings being one of them.
@@Accolonian I disagree, yes the UK defended Denmark on many occasions within the E.U but you know enough is enough buddy, we had enough of being treated as second class even though the the UK were paying the second highest contributions. But look the proof is in the pudding: Look on how we are doing-despite covid: The E.u said it would take YEARS just to get one trade deal and the UK achieved 68 deals in less than 2 years. But you know, We British always have a soft spot for those in Norway and Denmark and when the E.U fails and it will (within 10 years) we will welcome you people from Denmark back into the bigger and a better world as brothers and sisters.
Actually when it came out it got to no:1 on many Rock charts and Obsidian was billed as the Album of our darker times. I think during Covid this album is even MORE fitting and needed:)
Should check out Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish fame) - A Lifetime of Adventure (official video) featuring his wife Johanna Kurkela also an accomplished singer in her own right and Don Rosa cartoonist (Life and Times of Scrooge). This is from an album inspired by this graphic novel. I think you will enjoy this. ❤️🤘🇦🇺
In my opinion, they're the best doom metal band and this last album is just amazing
Agreed !
But they are gothic, not doom
Paradise Lost the Band of My Youth... the golden years in the 90's. Awesome reaction 🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍
Even "Host" was amazing !

WOW, thank you so much for reacting to Paradise Lost, hope you will react to more songs from this amazing band. Greetings from Denmark
Welcome to the 'The Lost' collective noun for Paradise Lost enthusiasts
Absolutely loved that guitar in the latter part. Sooooo good.🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love the Dark in all variants, metal, synth, punk, goth, new wave etc - this is my favorite.

Yup and they are decent down to earth blokes too, hoping I get to interview them soon for my book on Existentialism.
Paradise lost is something that is beautiful and dark and so damn lovely.

Mike loves this band
@@MikeandGinger try some of their more philosophy based songs. I am an atheist Existentialist . Try True Belief it's brilliant.
I just say that you should next try Faith divides us, Death unites us by Paradise Lost
NOW you're talking!!! LOL Very well chosen. Keep going folks. :)
Thank you very much
Love this song!!
They have much darker tracks, such as faith divides us death united us and Fall from Grace
Great song to pick!
You should try Nothing Sacred from theri 1999 album Host.
I've discovered them with "Shades of God" and been hooked since !
If one has lost his/her paradise, darker thoughts are inevitable. Great song with great lyrics nevertheless.

If y'all like this consider checking out My Dying Bride - A Sea to Suffer In & Anathema - The Silent Enigma.
This song is one of the best song of Paradise Lost.
This band have soul, a deep soul
I wish I had that darker voice, maybe they would sell me beer without asking papers -even grey ebeard dont assure my age,

Good track but more gothic rock, love the track but prefer their darker Existential stuff. I GOT INTO PL at the Draconian times album.

Paradise lost the British Gothic Metallica lol
