Wow. My cousin had one of these new in 1971. I liked it so much that I bought a used one the next year. So we had matching 1971 XS650 for one season. Then I traded mine in on a brand new 1973 XS650 ( Blue) the following year. A year later I sold it to fund a brand new 1974 Ducati GT750. It was a good time to be alive. The 70-71-72 XS650 had a real nice exhaust note.
@@douglasmason6112 There was just such an aura about that thing. After a decade of lusting after BSA and Triumph 650 ( which were BIG Bikes in that era), the XS650 came along. Just the look, the styling, the sound - it was awesome.

Nice! I've had more people tell me stories about that 71 Yammie than any of my other bikes.

The iconic XS Yamaha! What a stunning classic they are.
Great riding video. Thanks for no music or any bull to screw it up.
Hahaa...👍
They have a lovely sound to them .
Had one of those xs1 1970 in New Zealand. Better sound than the Bonnie. Would love another.
Yes, I also have a 70 Bonneville that is a sweet ride, but the Yammie is the "refined & reliable" version of that bike.
This bike is my dream since I was teenager. Need to finally buy one and restore..
Thanks, a great all around bike. Very similar to my 1970 Triumph Bonneville, but no oil leaks.
Best British bike ever built
Hahaa...Yes
Nice bike.
looks like fun. does it vibrate much
Great bikes , I owned a 1975 xs 650
The bike to compete with British bike sales.
How much do these bikes cost?
