I just came home with a 1 year old Australian Cattle Dog from an animal shelter. He refuses to go in his crate so i tried to watch some of your videos for some help but unfortunately, he has an extra special trait. He’s deaf, so he wouldn’t be able to hear me knock on the crate, yell to him, or even attach the leash and rattle it. I need him to be able to sleep in his crate at night, i just don’t know what to do. Please make a video for me and others out there who have extra special dogs 🥺

Every time I gave my dog I treat, I would put her in the crate. Now as a 3 year old, whenever we give her a treat she automatically goes in the crate and will stay in there with the door open 😂

Hi there, Dorena! Crate them separately. There are several reasons why this is a better choice. One reason is that you’ll have a better sense of what food and water is going in and what’s coming out for each puppy will speed up your potty training. As I mentioned, there are several others, but this can be a big challenge for any new puppy owner.

How long is too long for them to cry? Im worried about creating a negative association during this adjustment period. My dog is 9 weeks, we've had him for a week tomorrow. He is fine in the crate when he's very tired and sleeps very well, but the second we aren't paying attention to him or if he still has a small amount of energy, he can't seem to settle. I know he's still learning. When do we need to be worried about building separation anxiety or a negative association?

Not even for 2 minutes. So I'll remove the door but still make the crate interesting for the puppy. But it will cause some issue and more supervision because now I can't use this method during night. The puppy will be able to get out and pee while I'm sleeping. Help 😜

I've got a very large crate for my previous golden retriever who passed away. Now I'm getting a puppy, instead of getting a small crate I want to use the large one. How can I cut the crate down to size. Could I put a large covered box in one end?

    Not sure if you'll answer this but omg I am trying to crate train and idk if my puppy had a bad experience with kennels before, but she will cry and cry for like 45 minutes and not stop ever not for a second. She is fine with being left alone outside of it, in a puppy proofed bedroom, but doesn't stand the crate not for one second ;-;

45min of none stop crying sounds like the bad experience. Probably want to take a step back and introduce the crate much slower. Zak George shows in his series with Inertia how to get your dog comfortable with the crate.

How do I get my 13-week-old puppy to love her crate .. she cries for quite a bit and even working on going in the crate she starts to get hesitant to go in.
Should I take her out when she is crying ? How long should I leave her in there at a time ? Say if I'm showering and she cries the whole time. Do I take her out after if she is still crying ?
It seems like it's as soon as the door of the crate latches she starts to freak out.. barking, crying, howling, heavy panting, scratching & biting at the crate.

So you don’t have to buy several crates throughout their growing phase, you can buy a large metal crate with a divider for a fully grown border collie. And can move the divider as they grow.

All dog handlers will hook the lead of the dog in the crate to the door. When you take them back out it is right there where you need it.

I have a situation with my 2 chihuahuas, I started using puppy pads when they were little, but my husband was fighting cancer, while I worked for a short time, the only door to outside was down stairs and he couldn't let them out physically, so they became so confused, they go on puppy pads but also everywhere in my house, I'm constantly cleaning up after them. It's been so stressful. I have up my job to care for my husband, he lost the fight and now I have two dogs that don't always go on puppy pads, I've had them 7 years and I can't get them to stop peeing on my furniture and wooden floors, please help!

If that were my situation, I would start all over again as if they were puppies and just start training from day one with every 30 minutes take them outside and If they don't go then put them in a crate and watch them for a little while or play with them with supervision and then after about 30 minutes take them back out again until they do go. but I would definitely start them as if they were puppies.

@@kimberlylindeman711 agreed. I think she needs to crate them or in a fenced play area on linoleum so no accidents ruining furniture or floor. They recommend background music. Will be hard at first as I'm sure they will cry until they get the new schedule. Good luck.

What I did with my dog is when I heard him whining in the crate i would wait 2 minutes to see if he would calm down on his own, if not I took him outside to go potty. I only had to do it for two days, and he slept for about seven hours straight. I also put a blanket over it and that helped as well. I put some toys in there too

I'm about to have a Shiba inu and what I have read is that they don't like crate and they can be very difficult to train. Does this train work with them as well? I wont like to cause a trauma to the dog as he comes from a breeder that give them freedom in the house. Thank you for any advice 😊

    • @MsCaterific

Getting a dog that is difficult to train is like having a delinquent teen for the rest of its life. I wish you all the best with that and much success.

    • @Livetoeat171

I would do exactly like she is showing you to get the puppy to like his crate. Even if he's never gone in it before you can start them off with part of his breakfast kibbles tossing one or two in there and finally when he gets in there, you treat him more and eventually follow her steps and it should work.
