    Thanks for watching! 🐶💤Does your puppy sleep through the night? Or do they cry throughout the night?

      Same here. I'm trying to be mindful of my neighbors. Nobody (especially me) wants to hear this dog at 4 a.m. can't wait for this phase to be over.

    2nd night in. She’s quite distressed at first then calms down. You can’t help feel guilty but also learning to have healthy boundaries, especially as I need my rest to give her the best of me during the day ❤

      @HowToTrainADreamDog  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed! Just try not to let her cry with distress longer than 10 minutes or you could be creating a negative association with the crate.

    Hey there, Michelle! I'm getting a Pomeranian puppy just after November, I've been really excited about this for a very long time, but this is my first puppy I'm going to be training indoors, and I've already gotten a list of things to get, I would really appreciate if you would give me some tips and tell me what to replace and whatnot! I love your vids, and I think this one will really help me out, too.
    1. Harness (Pomeranians are prone to trachea collapses, also how could I leash train him better with this than a leash)
    2. House line
    3. Wire crate (Please advise if this would be as portable as the plastic top crates, it's a small one)
    4. Round bed (I plan on putting a blanket in the crate when he's less prone to accidents, but I want a bed outside it for whenever he's older and more well behaved)
    5. Play pen
    6. Metal clip leash
    7. Chew kong & Rope toy
    8. Slow feeder
    9. Eye wipes (To avoid tear stains)
    10. Slicker brush & comb
    11. Nose & Paw moisturizer
    12. Potty pads (Im not sure if I should use that or the grass pad)
    13. Travel bag (To put him in whenever we visit family/friends)
    14. Puppy friendly toothbrush and toothpaste (They have large teeth and small mouths so I want to make sure they stay nice and healthy)
    15. Cleaning spray for messes
    -
    I've waited almost 2 years for this puppy and I am just so happy about finally finding a breeder, I'm planning on starting a TH-cam channel for him (If you see it, his name is Bou) and I will definitely be giving you tons of credit for all your help on TH-cam!

      @@HowToTrainADreamDog Thank you so much for the great info!
      I watched your video on the grass patch, but unfortunately I do not think I can use those. My parents have strict rules about the aesthetic of our house and because of that they said the grass pass cannot work.😔
      Since Bou is a male, I'm not planning on spaying him, so do you have any advice for how I can prevent any messes from occurring, even when he's going on the pad? Should I use an extra large pad and train him to go in the middle?
      Thanks again!

      @dreamsarerealityindisguise Hi, super jealous of the new pup! How are things going with Bou so far?
      One note about your second comment:
      The fact that he is a male makes it even more important that you spay him. A femal can only have one litter at a time. If he got out (unlikely seeing how prepared you are) he could contribute to a lot of different litters before you find him again. This is a big problem because of the amount of dogs that are already strays.
      We should be doing everything we can to prevent making overpopulation worse!
      The spaying surgery is also not as invasive for a boy so Bou should heal quick enough.
      Do your own research on the topic, of course, but please consider what I've said?
      Much love to you both😊💜

    Thank you so much for this video! Question: crate training is going well, but what should I do about him trying to eat his bed? Lol. For now I have removed the bed out of the crate, but I want him comfortable
    I have a 3 month old puppy that I received 5 days ago. Training has been progressing well this week thanks to your videos!

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog

      We discourage bedding for dogs under a year of age. Don’t worry, the floor of your home or the dog’s crate is comfortable enough for him or her! Bedding often becomes a chew toy and has the potential for dangerous choking or intestinal blockage.
      Beds can often accidentally encourage a potty accident. Many puppies pee on their bed because it’s soft and squishy and they can then move it away to another part of the crate. We want to teach the pup to hold his/her bladder until he/she is outside.

      We don't recommend the cry it out method. You can teach him to love his crate with fun and easy games. Go slow so it's a positive experience for him. The games are in our online course: www.howtotrainadreamdog.com/puppy-perfection-course-learn-more/

    I’m curious how to reconcile two competing thoughts in my head. It’s not always clear whether puppy has to pee or is just crying because she wants out of the crate. If I take her out for a quick, no nonsense potty break like you’ve suggested, and it turns out she was just trying to get out to play, do I have to worry about the fact that I just reinforced her crying by falling for her trick?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's a great question. This is where tracking her schedule will help you. You'll start to notice patterns of how long she can hold it and and when she has to pee, so you'll know if her cry is a "play" or "potty" cry. You can also teach her to ring the bells for potty (not play). If you need help with the schedule, we have a great mini course that can help you. It has video lessons and sample schedules up to age 2 so it'll be really useful for a long time! courses.howtotrainadreamdog.com/puppy-schedule-mini-course

    My 10 week old miniature dachshund is crying as soon as he realizes ive finally walked away from his crate no matter what time of day.. Ive tried everything and at night i try to see if he'll just fall asleep after giving him alittle treat and taking him out a few times before but it goes on for a couple hours till hes done and falls asleep. Any tips?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It sounds like you'll want to work on crate training games throughout the day, so he gets used to going into the crate. The games in our online course teach you how to help him be confident when you step away.
