I must admit I wasn't fond of this theme when I heard it in the trailer because it didn't sound like the old M&L tracks but oh man after listening to it a bit on the game I started really liking it and it absolutely slaps as a battle theme
can i just say, that this theme is my favourite so far in brothership. The boss theme well.... it just doesn't hits compared to the previous m&l series boss theme (e.g. dream team: Never let up)
With the new music app, they’ll most likely add Brothership to it soon and maybe want these taken down (at least once it gets added to that app, until then idk)
Yeah no - don't really feel like that. It's totally fine if they take those Extended version down due to their app - IF they were to release the OST on there... But yeah... Nintendo doing Nintendo things... It's not even up there...
You can definitely hear the mix of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and Mario & Luigi tone of music and vibe from this theme! Hideki Sakamoto did his best to capture Yoko Shimomura's quirkiness of the battle themes from previous games while aslo thrown his own PMD spin into it! It fits very well and captires the magic of Mario & Luigi for me! He's definitely a great choice to pick for the soundtrack! :D
Idk how they did it but I did not get tired of this at all, even 40 hours in. I guess I shouldve expected that, that's a kind of magic that comes with every M&L standard battle theme. ...Still wish they did area-specific battle themes like with recent paper marios, though.
Area-specific battle themes would be WAY too much for this game. I think there are about 15 islands - which many of them having seperate subrooms. Paper Mario had like 8 themes in total - but having double the amount would be a bit toooo much. I think it's totally fine - although I would've loved the battle theme to be a bit longer. Maybe about 1:30min
@Lucca_Time I think a good compromise would be to have themes based on the enemy types. Generic Monsters can have this battle theme. The Extension Corps can have an electronic remix of the battle theme. The Koopa Troop can use a rock variation. Gholm and Reclusa's Minions can have a dark and ominous tone. These four types would be more than enough in my opinion.
dont get the hate this song gets. Especially the whole "its too slow" thing. I mean seriously how quick must you get the dopamine in your head? this shit SLAPS
I’m so glad others are saying this is giving off PMD vibes too. I’ve always thought that the Mario and Luigi series was the Mario version of PMD - at least as far as legacy and quality goes at in my opinion, and especially how they’re the kind of headliners of their respective side series.
Good, reminds me a lot of superstar saga. This series is my childhood, I literally broke up with my childhood girlfriend so I could have my older brothers game boy SP + M&L Super Sar Saga back in 2003. I'm so glad it came back, this was so unexpected.
This isn't bad per se, but Yoko's lack of involvement is *really* felt here more than anywhere else. BIS, DT and PJ's battle themes all shared a light, energetic feel to them (while still sounding distinct from one another) that I'm not feeling here. But those soundtracks are a tough act to follow.
I kind of get that - though I won't really agree. Personally - I think it captures the silly and goofy style of M&L battle themes quite well. Just listen to the Bowser's Inside Story battle theme and try comparing it to this one. That one could also possibly be a Pokémon theme then.
I do feel the ost in this game is the weakest in the series, but it is far from the worst. I feel like the battle theme is just as good as the other entries in the series.
@ yea yoko shimomura unfortunately didnt come back. I was hoping she would but i hope in the future if they ever plan on making another mario and luigi, she would make the musics again
@ it’s crazy to me because the more I play I start to think the same thing. I think the music in the game is good. It always fits the atmosphere and feeling of a high seas adventure. This game might end up being my favorite or second favorite in the series. There’s just so much I love about it. I haven’t beaten it yet so that might change but so far it has so many things I love.
@@yoshibro75 Exactly what I said, song sounds mid to me. In the time between when I wrote that and now, I've already forgotten what this song sounded like. Compare it to the other battle songs from 1-4. Those have way stronger melodies, are easy to follow, and just catchy in general. This just sounds meandering. If I'm gonna play an RPG, then the song I expect to hear for the majority of the game better be a good one. For example, the very first battle in the demo of Bravely Default back in the day sold me on the game. Before I even knew what the hell I was doing, I knew I had to hear more of that song.
@ClydeJHatbird for now i too find myself forgetting what this one sounds like when im not playing the other 4 are classics but im sure I'll play this 20 times and it will be burned into my brain
I love most of the soundtrack although i gotta be honest this is 4th weakest battle theme, inside story, partners in time, and dream team (only the dream world version) have better battle themes
Different from the previous ones, but I still really enjoy it. I think it surpasses PiT, Paper Jam, and Superstar Saga in regards to main battle themes.
I must admit I wasn't fond of this theme when I heard it in the trailer because it didn't sound like the old M&L tracks but oh man after listening to it a bit on the game I started really liking it and it absolutely slaps as a battle theme
Ikr..it feels meh when i first it in the trailer, but after playing it now I really2 like, it suit for this game
Lol, same here
I feel this is such a bombastic way saying "we're back"
can i just say, that this theme is my favourite so far in brothership. The boss theme well.... it just doesn't hits compared to the previous m&l series boss theme (e.g. dream team: Never let up)
@BasicM I agree it doesn't go as hard as those but it has that "revival" beat to it that I am in love with
This theme absolutely slaps, and if Nintendo is smart, they’ll leave these ost videos up so people can listen and want the game even more.
With the new music app, they’ll most likely add Brothership to it soon and maybe want these taken down (at least once it gets added to that app, until then idk)

Yeah I think it's an awesome OST overall!
It’s him? The final boss theme is a bit weak coming from the guy that composed Dialga’s Fight to the Finish
Something about this song gives me Scarlet&Violet Gym Leader theme vibes.
Yeah I totally get that. Many people commented this exact same thing. So you're not alone with this take!
Yo I thought the same thing
I just want to enter a battle to hear the beginning.
Everytime I fight an enemy, me and my brother are headbanging at the start.

Agreed on the last front. I might listen to different battle themes during my playthrough to spice things up.

@almondjoy4938 Oh that's actually a great idea...
I just don't know how it would work if you have two types in the same battle
@Lucca_Time
I imagine that the ones that are more prominent will have their respective themes play.
This gives me the same vibes as a lot of One Piece tracks, which makes sense given the setting.
Agree
THE POWER STAR IS REAL
Yes, this honestly does sound like one of the songs from One Piece, but I don't remember the name of it.
I hear it :)
dont get the hate this song gets. Especially the whole "its too slow" thing. I mean seriously how quick must you get the dopamine in your head? this shit SLAPS
geez this is good
Yeah I love these themes WAY too much 😂
Fantastic showing from the new composer, i just wish it was longer!!!
That bass is absolute fire
OH I SEE THEY COOKED WITH THIS SOUNDTRACK
The guitar is going nuts on this one! I love it!
It's a good theme alright, i still prefer the old ones, specially superstar saga
Sounds like the west paldea wild battle theme and thats great

It's been years and yet they still know how to make an absolute banger of a fight song for these games 🙌
I need this in a slander memes video NOW
on it
This slaps. Lovin the new Mario and Luigi!
Got the game it is amazing.

Sounds like something out of Pokémon scarlet violet for me o,o

It is a very silly and fun theme, I also think it fits perfectly//
The game’s performance is right out of Pokémon S/V as well
It's legit the start of the gym theme in S&V
The trumpets and acoustic guitar
Bro this goes so freaking hard
We Are Back At Peak!
Is it just me or does Brothership remind me of Origami king. And we can all agree this music rocks 🎶
This game feels like it's an amalgamation of the previous games. But especially Superstar Saga.
Yeah I have never played a Mario and Luigi game before so I am hoping to get this one.
The composer did a good job with this theme, honestly thought it was the boss battle theme when i watched the first trailer
Give me some pokemon scarlet vibe for some reason
Estava em dúvida se pegava ou não o jogo, essa música me vendeu.
this sounds like the kitakami wild battle theme from scarlet and violet
I love video game brass sections :)
I think most of us do cuz' they're very awesome all the time.
LOVE those battle themes in Brothership so much!
Mario and luigi brothership should be added to nintendo music.
Everyone agrees right? If not then WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?! these songs are fire!
they did not have to go this hard
The first 3 Seconds of this Song sound really similiar to another game song, but I can't quite put my finger on what song.
Let's get club doyde on jellyfish island
"We live bitches" ahh theme
I wonder who got the honor of playing accordion?
Mario and Luigi and the Seven Seas
I know a lot of the music isn’t seen too fondly in this game, but I think this might be the best battle theme in the whole series
I do feel the ost in this game is the weakest in the series, but it is far from the worst. I feel like the battle theme is just as good as the other entries in the series.
I think a lot of the criticism is born out of salt that Yoko didn't come back.

Hmmm... Not feeling this at all. The melody's too subtle and it just feels like it's in a constant buildup with no payoff.

I guess there is disagreement. I can easily hear the melody, and I think the loopability works pretty well. Not my favorite, but I like it.
