- I prune my Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera) and my Crown of Thorns bonsai (Euphorbia milii) after they have grown all winter.
I also bring home the Orchard truck just in time to beat the snow!

So we're watching the video and at some point my wife, Cat(Catherine) starts playing/talking to the dog. And almost immediately, at 25:05 Nigel says"Be quiet Cat." She looks up and says "I guess I was making so much noise that Nigel up in Canada told me to be quiet." :D
Hilarious 😂 My neighbors cat usually scratches at my back door & meows... two cats wanting to be petted simultaneously.

1) First video I ever remember you raising your voice @ an animal! I nearly did a spit take with my iced tea.
2) The Christmas cactus resembles an old prickly pear cactus. The oblong leaves add to the look.
3) The truck looks awesome! I was hoping for a more modern colour, but that OEM colour rules!

What a great old truck. Reminds me of our old forestry trucks in Alberta. Cactus is definitely more tree like with the aggressive pruning. Another great video Nigel Happy Easter stay safe and healthy

Beautiful truck Nigel! My father had a '72 Ford F-100. Same front end as your truck, it was 2 toned, Yellow, and White. Seeing your truck brings back memories!😊 Sounds like your mechanic got it runn'in pretty good! You can't complain about a truck runn'in that good, that is that old! Very interesting cacti bonsai! I have a few Jade plants, that I turned into bonsai, they're also succulents, they get a very interesting trunk on them. Keep up the great work, love your videos!😎👌👍✌

I thought the low branch cut was very drastic but the tree looks better now so good call. Your truck is a beauty. Must feel goed to drive. Here in the Netherlands it is full on spring and I'm thinking of getting my tropical plants outside. I have some oak seedlings I placed outside some weeks ago but they lost their leafs but are developing new buts... . I hope those survive...

How exciting to pick up the truck! Can't wait for you to shine her up. Is it normal for you to have a snow storm at this time of year? We had two days of high temps: 94F this past week. Broke two records. Unusual for this time of year. Those are normally summertime temps here in s. FL USA. I kept hoping you would do a cameo of Ginger as I heard her in the background. Your cactus bonsai is looking good. Glad to see you remove the moss. Might look good with a desert sand cover. Your crown of thorns bonsai is looking good.

What color does the Christmas cactus bloom?
Hi Nigel, I really enjoy your videos. You are so knowledgeable. I was wondering if I could cut back my ficus benjamina. I have had it for over 20 years and it has gotten wild. I am interested to know if cutting everything off including cutting the 3" diameter trunk down to 18" in height and starting over is ok. Will it sprout new branches or die? I am apprehensive and would appreciate your advice. Thank you.
Oh man! So happy to see the Orchard Truck back on the road. Since you took the extra heater fan out, is the standard heater adequate for the frigid Canadian winters?
To preserve the truck, I don't drive it in winter, too much salt on the roads! The heater was mainly for the back seat, but the front heater does quite a good job of heating the cab evenly.
What happens when you let your cat join you in the plant room?

Hi Nigel. I'm a very inexperienced bonsai grower. I have a Schlumbergera that is around 30 years old. I'm thinking of doing bonsai with it. Are there certain times of the year that would be better for removing it from it's current nursery pot and putting into a bonsai pot? Any other advice you can give would be appreciated. I watch your videos everyday at lunch and enjoy them very much.
Is it a good time to prune the Christmas Cactus? because it's so close to bloom? Do I have to prune too so that it gives more flowers?

Can you tell me the recipe to killing the bugs?
I use 40 parts water to one part liquid dish soap (the kind you use to hand wash dishes). It is best to test it on the tree first, some leaves will have a bad reaction. If the mix is too strong for the tree, then add more water until the leaves don't react badly.
How old were you when you started collecting ?

How's the alignment on the truck? Looks like the ole steering wheel needs a bit of aligning 😁
They put the steering connection on in the wrong position, I'll have to disconnect it and straighten out the wheel and then bolt it back up. I'm hoping to get it done soon, it's very strange to drive it with the steering wheel crooked!
