Mine is a gen 1, straight off the lines MCR. Some of the issues I've experienced have been resolved, I'm not sure the piston breaking/bending ever has been.
I have a gen 2 wk with over 600rds through, zero issues. Clean your guns after EVERY use and u shouldnt have issues. They are not built to military spec, they are not built like American firearms ethier.
@@Zay.223cleaning has nothing to do with malfunctions, it's the design itself. There's an engineer who did an analysis. 600rds is absolutely nothing and you shouldn't have to clean a practical use rifle like this that often unless you're really going through rough conditions or are using corrosive ammo.
Like the guys are saying, the 181 gen 2 in 7.62x39 uses a beefier piston rod so you shouldn't run into this specific issue. That said, a type 81 won't break parts like a 181 will.
Crazy how they could never make it work correctly

my wk180 gen2 piston bent after the first 100 rounds. Maybe my fault for not having cranked hard on the gas screw.@@Huntinggearguy
nah, new guns from the factory shouldn't break after 100 rounds@@vcarriere

the piston now identifies as a gas tube
How many rounds did you fling before that happened?
5k give or take
@@HuntinggearguyI’ll keep track after 2k then 😅
Is this a problem with the WK181 (7.62x39 variant) as well?
Or does it use a different mechanism/parts ?
Was about to pull the trigger on one!
The gen 2 7.62 uses a thicker piston and might be the only one that works correctly. But do your research before buying a Canadian made rifle.
@@ShortStrokeArmouryor pro tip just don’t buy a Canadian made rifle
@@BigBabyGaming100 yeah, at service rifle the other day next to 2 WKs. When asked to rapid fire, both miss fed on the same shot lol
@@ShortStrokeArmoury I had one and sold it for peanuts to get away from it. Said screw bought a bren 2 never been happier with a firearm

This is why I avoid canadian made firearms.
Unrelated, but will you be looking at the new Type 81M?
No but I like the changes they made to it
@@Huntinggearguy sweet, just wondering. Thanks.
The tna upgrade do anything to improve it?
I have a 1st gen mcr (dont shoot alot) what parts should I keep on stock to replace?
It took 5k rounds to break my piston. I wouldn't keep a stock of likely to break parts if you're a low volume shooter
Are there any upgrades for the piston?
Not really, just replacements
lol
