    Thank you, Derek. You are an inspiration & I enjoy your informative videos. COPD is a chronic condition. Like any other chronic condition, we have to find ways to deal with it. Seven years ago my copd was moderate-severe. It was unpredictable! Today it is moderate. Losing just 10 lbs has made a huge improvement. I no longer need a C-Pap for sleep apnea. I use air-conditioning when I need it. I exercise in spurts ... little doses throughout the day... no aerobics or marathons. And I am so grateful for people like you, who take the time to give us the tools we need ... Blessings to you from US

      Wow. You did so well on losing 10 Lb. So pleased to see the results you have made for yourself. Exercising in spurts is said to be the best way. What exercises do you do? We all want to know. :) Many thanks for your input.

    Lots of great information! Thanks for sharing. I'm still taking my "stinky" NAC. I live by myself in a second floor condo with no elevator. I drag my groceries up the stairs in a container with wheels and am so thankful I'm in good enough shape to do that, especially at my age. Maybe that's even a positive situation because I'm forced to climb stairs and carry everything I purchase up those stairs....it's called exercise whether I want to or not.

      You are doing so well Sandra going up the stairs with the shopping. As you say it is good exercise if you can do it. Yes the NAC is so good at keeping the chest a bit looser. Many thanks for you comment.

    You have such a positive outlook Derek, and pass it on to all those wise enough to listen to you. Thank goodness I found you and your videos!
    Another topic I'd like your advice on is diet, but most importantly, with sugar; I've researched about it and have found that we shouldn't eat sugar because of inflammation. However, what are your thoughts on it please?
    Very many thanks for a splendid video and superb advice. Keep up the positivity and the pursed-lip breathing, it's becoming a way of life with me. Thank you so very much.

      Hi Sue. Many thanks for your comment. I cut down on sugar myself because the problem was it was overloading me and I went into type 2 diabetes. I cut down and the weight came down a bit and guess what, I am no longer type 2, sitting as pre now. I think like most things. In moderation. Keep an eye on those fruit juices you may buy at the store. they are sugar-loaded. Good to hear you have learned the pursed-lip breathing to make it a way of life. It sure helps a lot.

      I've recently been diagnosed too Chrissy, and find Derek and his videos a joy to listen to, he's such an inspiration! Another great video for exercise is "Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Daily fitness and exercise". It was brought out as a dvd in Canada, but now being here on TH-cam I find it a huge help and do the exercises most days. All the very best, Sue.

      @suewright1299 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent Chrissy, what more can anyone ask of you. Hubby has just bought a treadmill and it's perfect for still being able to do hills, as well as ideal for cold, rainy days. I've grown to love using weights but not the bar type as I have spine problems. Keep as healthy as possible Chrissy!
