Thank you Derek.....I too bought a 'breather'.....used it a bit....put it aside.....out of sheer laziness....Thank you for reminding me,! I will now take it up again to give it a fair trial ! Probably one unique/important feature...is that you can set the resistance dial for inhale & exhale separately....start easy.....and gradually turn each dial up as your diaphram gains strength....so it can be used for individual needs & is progressive !

derek, i need to share this with you and your readers ,a few years ago i bought a cheap nebuliser on-line (proved utterly useless for me)i dug it out awhile ago looking for a skinny tube to try the blow into a bottle of water trick n found instead a ribbed plastic tube 6" n half x1" inch that attaches to a mask piece, for some reason(i was fooling with it in my hand) i tried the breathe in thru the nose exhale thru the tube with the hand partially blocking the other end, mate i tell ya it brought the gasping last breathe on earth to a dramatic halt, i have used it ever since and it has worked wonders for me,i told a mate and he went outside n chopped a chunk off his garden hose, the same deal for him,i guess its the back pressure thingy ,please try for your selves, it certainly has brought the pants pissing gasping to a screeching halt for me-thanks derek stay well- franky small town nz

Although to a certain extent the straw will work, it is the back pressure that provides resistance. Blowing through water offers little resistance so you come a stand still in improvements, little restance from the straw. The breather has different settings, both for inhale, and exhale. Making it a much more workable solution. I tried the straw at one time. Many thanks for your comment.

I have bought one of these & I now can lower my oxygen level. I also can walk further than I used to. I haven't changed any other thing so I KNOW it's because this is working for me. Thank you for spreading the word on this

Bless you Derek! I felt so very tense all evening, so I’ve watched some of your videos, and oh how much calmer I feel now. I had a spirometry test in February 2020, the nurse told me she thought I had copd and it was mild. She gave me a new inhaler and I was supposed to go back for another test, that was 2 yrs & 7 months ago and since then I’ve seen no one!! Last March in a phone birthday check the nurse I spoke to said she’d refer me to our local hospital, that never happened either!! During the last 8 weeks I’ve had 2 exacerbations, 1 after having had Covid. Another phone call I asked the Dr what they were, “a flare up of your Covid”. Both times she prescribed Prednisolone and antibiotics. It dawned on me last night that it had been exacerbations! I’m trying to get another FB account after 2 were hacked over a year ago, I’d love to come to your Zoom meetings again, so I need you to send me a link or referral. I’ll see you soon Derek, and so very many grateful thanks to you for your help tonight.

Hey mate, greetings from California. I'm glad started you started making videos again after a four month hiatus. I was worried that you had passed on. I got interested in following your channel because two people in my life that I was close to that have died had COPD. By the way, I like the new clothes. You look a lot better then before! Cheers!

I've got one , and I got it because of all the great things I've heard about The Breather. I started out using it twice a day. Then I was back in the hospital, and I kept going in and out of the hospital for about three months. So I never got a to see the benefits of the Breather. But I'm going to start over with it, and I'll let you know how I'm doing with it. I wish you the best and keep trying to get better.👍

Hope you are much better now. The breather really has helped me a lot and for what it is a remarkable little device. It does not take long each day to use it either. So much it is a kind of habit, a routine now. Take care and breathe easy.

Is this better than a spirometer? My husband is on oxygen since he had Covid last year! He was on a ventilator for 9 days made it home ! Pretty scary! He uses his spirometer daily ! Wondered if this is the same or better? Thanks Barb

Lost me there. A spirometer is a machine that tests fev1 to determine lung function. Wondering what it is you are using. Very scary stuff being on a ventilator. Hopefully in time he will gain a bit more lung function back. D

    Hi Derek
I have very servere COPD. Before the pandemic started I was working. I was struggling doing my day today duties. My company tried accommodating by giving me lighter duties. Since lockdown my fitness levels have gone to almost none existence. Im tired and exhausted all the time. I have more bad days than good days now. My condition seems to be getting worse. My resterpority team have told me I won't be going back to work. Im finding this very hard to get my head around. Im only 57years old. I've worked all my life since leaving school. It's effecting my home life. I feel worse than a spare part. Is there anyone out there can help me with what I'm going through???

Best advice I can give if try to stay positive. Be proactive, keep active as you can even though at times it can be hard. Use a device such as the breather to help maintain your breathing. And watch a few of my video's here on youtube. If you have not already join my copd help site on facebook 'We strive to breathe easier' at facebook.com/groups/154790934878655

Hello my friend. I know just how you are feeling. I'm 58 , and I've had COPD , since 2014. After finding out that I had it, I had to leave my job of 30 years. Or really, I was let go. But I found another job and I was able to work for about another year and a half , before I just couldn't do it anymore. Since then, I've gotten worse , now I'm in last stage of COPD. I'm feeling the way you are right now. Before, I was able to at least be able to take care of the house , run a few errands , watch the grandkids. But little by little, everything was getting harder to do. And my wife was having to do more and more. Plus, now she would have to take care of me more than before. Now, I can't do anything, I'll take 5 steps and I'm done. It takes everything I have just to be able to sit up. I feel worthless and less of a man. It's hard on everything and everyone. My marriage is falling apart. My home is falling apart. And it's just getting harder each day. But I don't give up, I'm going to fight as long as I can.l have days when I'm done, I don't think I can do it anymore. But I stop, and look deep in side, and I find that one breath, and I pull myself back up. And tell myself, I do matter and I'm not alone. Because someone out there is worse than me , so I'm not doing to bad then. Just don't give up, keep fighting with everything you have. My deepest prayers are with with you. Blessing to you.,👍💕

@@C.Brown5150 thankyou for your thoughts and comments. For the want of better words. It's nice to hear from people like yourselves Only people who have got this terrible disease knows what it feels like. Its like a thief. It feels like I'm being robbed of life each day. But as long as I'm waking up each day. It's worth fighting for everything that means anything.
