I had the honor and privilege of sitting next to Dr Barnard about 32 years ago at a dinner when he was in town for some event (either an animal rights event or health presentation), and I can tell you, he is absolutely just as warm and kind and wonderful as he appears. ❤️

Thank you Dr. Barnard! You are a big reason I became a whole food, no added fat, vegan 18 months ago. It’s still hard to believe the enormous physical and mental benefits I have gained since. I’ll never go back. Who knew I would love oat groats so much. Or, natural organic peanut butter on whole grain toast with a banana. Or, legumes. Or greens. Or fruit,… I’m 60 years old now, have dropped 30 pounds and am off of all of my blood pressure and cholesterol medications. I haven’t felt this good since my 20s. All of my extended family and friends ask me how I did it. I just show them one your books or videos and Dr. Michael Greger’s and tell them how it impacts my life. Three of them have changed to veganism so far. This way of eating sells itself.
@@melodywright2276 Outstanding! Wonderful decision. I recommend Dr. Michael Greger’s, “How Not to Die” book. I follow the “Daily Dozen” app that goes along with the book. It has been the best decision I have ever made for my physical and mental health. Best wishes.
Somehow, I this is my first encounter with him, and he just took top place in my book too!!! Wow! Have already passed this video on to people who have been curious about this lifestyle. He’s my new “go-to”
What is amazing and cool of Dr. Barnard is he is such and even has taken the Covid vaccine and recommends to others. This shows he is a "balanced, integrative" doctor and not from one end or the other :)
The well-known phrase "Everything in MODERATION" should ONLY apply to HEALTHY things. "Moderation DOES NOT APPLY to UNHEALTHY things" (Neal) ABSOLUTELY TRUE !!!
@@snowdenfree5008 Well sure, or sort of. Animal flesh is simply concentrated plant food. Trouble is it concentrates the toxins, the GMOs, etc etc. There's no room to explain all of the research here. I refer you to Neal Barnard MD who has said, "Any physician who isn't a vegan hasn't read the research." Suffice it to say that people can get everything they need from plants - - folks just have to re-educate themselves and their taste buds.
@@snowdenfree5008 You just to seem to be looking for an argument, wanting to put down a concept that you don't try to understand. It's useless to volley with you. Maybe some other time, some other topic.
I became vegan for ethical reasons, but it's thanks to heroes like Dr Barnard that I was able to be a healthy vegan. Doing my best to pay it forward :)
@Zombie wow what a stupid comment, I don't even know what you could possibly gain by it. I didn't "destroy my health" going vegan. My health was poor because of all the crap I ate before, and when I went vegan I started eating crappy vegan food instead. But thanks to people like Dr Barnard, Dr McDoughall any many more I started to go more and more to whole foods, and my health has been improving dramatically.
Yesterday I celebrated my 36th anniversary as a vegan. Dr. Barnard has been a role model in my life and in my clinical practice. He is a true hero. Thank you for posting!
Hi I am suffering from acne and going to vegetarian but my hair falls out and teeth have gotten thin any advice on protein and b12 and vitamins I should buy
I became vegan 6 years ago and I am still a very strong man, 49y, 1.90 hight, 100 kg. Full energy and better than i was 10 y ago when I also ate animals Thank you!
I’m 60 years old , I’ve been veggie / vegan for 40 years , I’m 6’2 , 200 pounds, still do 200 push-ups a day , cycle 1000 miles a month , no inflammation, no aches and pains .
I visited once one the most "advanced" hospitals in Melbourne, Australia, and when i saw the food that they were serving, I was completely shocked.. It's clearly not a place that they want you to get healthy. They want you to make you sick with food and treat you with medications from which they take commissions. Just keeping people in the pleasure comfort trap, and no one mentioning anything about nutrition. This is a crime.
UltraViolet I hear you. Nsg placement in NSW and overweight patients doing nothing all day eating three meals a day with desserts like chocolate lava cake available twice a day. They ate more than me on my feet for an eight hour shift. Unbelievable.
Dr. Barnard is the main reason why I finally adopted the WPBF life style and stopped craving the occasional meat and dairy, I can't thank him enough even if it was through you tube's videos only but his sincerity and passion are telepathic

After viewing Dr. Barnards Vegan programs I started eating it right away. I lost 22# in 2 months. My labs are amazing. My cholesterol went down from 339 to 2030. Thank you Dr. Neal. I love my vegan food!
Wow when I first started watching this video i was only going to invest maybe 5 minutes but I could NOT stop watching because Dr Barnard made the topic so very informative and interesting. Thanks for such a great video!
I’m two months in from giving up all kind s of meat and my health has improved drastically I am off my high blood meds and I have lost weight and I enjoy eating now more than I have before when I ate meat
@Zombie "you tellin me you go to a supermarket, get raw chicken breast, bake it, eat it, and gain weight from it?" A chicken breast today has 7-10 times the saturated fat content that they had 140 years ago, so yes, that could be a problem. Also, people don't usually eat chicken breasts plain, they put things on them, like BBQ sauce, and those often have lots of sugar.
As always, important information to a healthier life. I am a 66 year-old vegan (17 years), no meds few supplements, 5’5” 116. I’ve practiced “intermittent fasting most of my life. I also water fast 1-5 days a few times a year. Question: is autophogy a reality? At my weight should I limit longer water-only fasts? Thanks to Dr. Bernard, Dr. Campbell & Dr. Esselstyn I changed my diet which changed my life!❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure the docs will be able to respond. I'm not a doc but I run this channel... I love time restricted intermittent fasting and see support for that. I don't think anything else is necessary, for me anyways. If you're eating WFPBV and of a variety like Dr. Greger recommends in the Daily Dozen, which is perfection if you haven't already used it, then I don't know why you would water fast. That's typically, from my lay understanding, for people needing a "reset" because they have some underlying condition or issue, esp. if they don't eat WFPBV consistently. As for autophagy, is it a reality? I mean, that's the point of time restricted intermittent fasting, or all fasting I suppose. Dr. Greger has some awesome videos on fasting. I feel if you're just going to watch one it's the one on time restricted because again it seems to be the most efficacious. AND get the bulk of your calories in the earlier part of the day. Like Dr. Greger says eat like a king in the morning, like a prince for lunch, and like a pauper for dinner. It's easy and not easy. Easy in that it's just beans, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, herbs & spics. Not easy in that now I have to cook. It helps to have someone else in the mix to motivate, stimulate ideas, assist, etc... And may as well feed more than one person when cooking. But, it's still advantageous flying solo to prep and cook in the kitchen because you can always do 3 plus days worth of prepping. Ok, I'm thinking outload rambling now... lol. Thanks again for sharing though!
@@VeganLinked I appreciate your generous reply. Because I am 66 years old I take a slightly different approach then I did in my 30’s, 40’s and even 50’s. At this stage of life cell turnover slows down considerably. As I understand it water only fasting generates autophogy (clearing mutated cells/cell turnover). The longer the fast the better the results. As I understand it Autophogy is just beginning at about 18-20 hours of water only fasting so most people are not achieving the benefits I an looking to gain. I have been vegetarian for 30 years, vegan 17. I have a varied diet and prep-cooked for most of my life. I have a solid understanding and experience of WFPB eating. My question is more pointed to my age group and benefits of long term fasting. I’ve done water only fasts much of my adult life because I feel better afterwards. I have great respect for Gene and his work. I didn’t realize/pay attention to whom I was addressing my question. I will be contacting True North in the near future so will gain comprehensive fasting information there. Thanks so much for posting this video of Dr. Barnard. Keep up the good work! ❤️
@@darrisnelson5223 yeah, True North is into fasting. Dr Greger covers the science well. It's been easy for me to time restrict down to 4 hours give or take, I just occasionally might without putting much thought into it. Some people squeeze it into 1 hour, Dr Amen. But I only advocate WFPBV and TR intermittent fasting since the science leans that way the most.
OMG @ Dr. Barnard's rib story. I've only been vegan for 2 months, vegetarian since 2016. Vegetarian didn't do what I needed it to do for my health, but veganism is even in this short amount of time.
I love how he explained that he doesn’t feel different after going vegan.. meaning the man is in his 60s and feels like he did when he was 20. Most people lose that by like 30. Definitely extra motivation to keep filling up on plants 👍🏼💪🏼
Yeah, I like that part too. It throw me off a little even when he initially said it. I'm 48 and 10 years vegan. I feel better than I did in my 30's prevegan for sure.

Same here, he's one of the inspirations for me as a future doc myself. It's unfortunate that WFPB Nutrition isn't taught in medical school, but it makes sense- it's a threat to big pharma!
Because that's what dieticians are for, diet and nutrition are not a doctor's responsibility. Doctors are experts in medicine, dieticians are experts in nutrition and dietetics.
@@Tesssssaaaaa Doctors should use nutrition as a first step to health and wellness. They should understand the importance of proper nutrition and have a nutritionist on staff or someone they can recommend for further consultation. A cardiologist that does not council patents about how what they eat can harm them or help them is not doing all he can to help his patients.
@@Tesssssaaaaa Nope, Food is Medicine. Doctors knowing about Nutrition will give them more tools to help their patients truly heal, like Dr. Barnard and many other docs that are my role models (Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Michael Greger, etc.). Big pharma can't stand them though, because they help patients get OFF meds! That's a real doctor! Most dieticians are misinformed as well, the Gov't guidelines have heavy meat and dairy industry funding. WFPB RDs/Nutritionists and health coaches are great though, and when they work alongside these WFPB docs for more in depth coaching with the patients, now we have a dream team. Ideally, it would work like this: A patient comes to my office, has Hypertension and Pre diabetes. I explain to the patient about the causes: Salt- constricting of blood vessels, animal products- which contain salt as well, also saturated fat which blocks insulin receptors, etc., also lack of hydration, exercise, excessive inflammation, etc. Then, I tell them about how to reverse these conditions (WFPB eating, exercise, lots of water, stress management, etc.), and I'll give them a flyer with lots of doctors, books, websites with recipes, etc. Then, I assign them to one of the WFPB RDs/Nutritionists and health coaches on my team to go over more detail, and guide the patients day to day. It's a great model!
Two of my favorite doctors have Minnesota ties. Dr. Barnard and Dr. Mcdougall! Which hospital were you at and was it the same time as Dr. Mcdougall? Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us
The term or phrase “nutrient dense” is in relation to the fast and processed foods that are lacking nutrients and are high in kcals. Nutrient dense is synonymous with WFPB. It’s a perfectly fine phrase used in that context and does not imply artificially high or excessive levels of protein or other nutrients added to foods.
Thanks for sharing this posting and listening to your giving me joy in my journey. I started changing my diet but I need to listen to people like you. Thanks 100%
Aside from all the videos and books I saw and read he was a great influence on my decision to become vegan. Whenever I weaken I just watch his talks on TH-cam.
Excellent interview! I never heard the story of how he went vegan, so that was interesting. I love Dr. Barnard; he's very intelligent, reasonable, and humble ...Thanks for posting!
such a childish and inconsiderate comment, why would you be so hateful? We genuinely are concerned about culture, human health, animal welfare, the environment, etc... and you come here and mock us?
I TOO agree that we would not do experimentation of any diet that is unethical. If that's your bag - go somehwhere that idea is being sold :) LOVE DR BARNARD!! Helped soooo many people and the food is GREAT!!!
saw Dr. Barnard's video from 8 years ago. he didnt age at all. thats what ive noticed with all plant based senior people, they all look great, im a full whole food plant-based vegan for a month now. i started out as a pescatarian over a year ago, i do a daily 18 hour intermitent fast. now i have a 6-pack, ive always been athletic and active but i can never get those abs and the leanness ive wanted....until i became vegan. and...ive shortened my daily workout (from 1.5hours daily ) to 20 mins!!!!! my joints never ache now. before id run an hour on the treadmill and my knees and ankles will have some pain. the recovery takes a while. GOING PLANT BASED is a miracle! oh and ive started doin yoga.lol...yestertday i watched Dominion,, i realised how humanity has lost its soul, the cruelty we subject animals. maybe its time to relabel animals as fellow citizens of Earth,
The way this story started was really strange because ribs in a hospital cafeteria was my first realization that there was something wrong with this food. It was the first time I rejected meat. It still took a few months until I stopped. I have since found out that I am allergic to a lot of vegetables. As a doctor, what would you say are the most mild fruits/ veggies and legumes? Maybe allergies have something to do with my tiredness. I'm allergic to peas, brussel sprouts and everything in that family, as well as mustard and everything in that family. Tomatoes are also a problem ( according to the tests) and it's sad because I love all those things!
Consult with the lifestyle medicine practitioner and just hone in on a meal plan that fits your dietary needs and I'm sure you'll be fine. There are tens if not hundreds of thousands of edible plant options with them legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, seeds, herbs and spices to choose from and tailor your diet to your specific needs and desires.
From beginning to end amazing video, my favorite part is the last minute. Excellent point! Something great to keep in my brain when feeling the need to eat or do anything unhealthy/ not good for me😄
This is wonderful, Dr. Barnard. Your vast knowledge and easy style makes it feel doable to transition from SAD to WFPB. I like the low drama 🎭. Thank you!
I have been vegan 27 years my cholesterol is good l am not overweight. My sister who was a life long meat eater suffered heart problems, irritable bowel, athritis, and was obese.
@Dianne Goode Meat isn't the issue. There are numerous people that eat low/no carb and have reversed each of these issues, the problem is what else they're consuming and whether they're sedentary. If you look at people that only eat meat they lose weight naturally, without being hungry, and health issues improve as the weight comes off. SemiRetiredBob and FerrignoFreedom shows what happens when eating meat without carbs and seed oils. Mikhaila Peterson and her father resolved numerous health issues that even doctors couldn't fix. I'm not trying to change your eating habits, just pointing out that meat alone isn't the issue. FYI - Tufts University published a study that suggested Lucky Charms and Cheerios were healthier than eggs, cheese and ground beef, it's hard to believe anyone would fall for this.
@@chrism746 Cheerios contain fibre that's why. As for Dr Peterson, after he started the carnivorous diet he looks unwell. We need vitamins and minerals. The carnivorous diet is a dangerous thing to attempt. We're not lions.
Am learning so much from this video ... thank you! One of my 2022 goals is to shift away from animal-based foods for environmental and ethical reasons. I am so glad to see all of these helpful videos by Dr. Barnard.
Thank you Dr. Bernard. It may be unethical to do a vegan vs keto but what if you do the study with groups already on those diets? 50 years no meat, perfect health.
What's the point when we can already see that it's totally fine, healthy, sustainable, and the only ethical way to be vegan? I mean to what extent will we go to experiment, what if eating human babies is as healthy as eating plants do we really need to know this? Lol
@@VeganLinked Aren't we taking that for granted? The first thing I ask myself as a scientists is, "what if I'm wrong?". Eating babies would be destroying life for the purpose of experimentation. If two groups are comprised of individuals who have chosen to eat a specific way then we are not interfering with their rights or health choices. We do have studies that compare vegans to meat eaters, the Seventh Day Adventist study does compare individuals who have personally made dietary and life choices, look what we've learned from that study. Refining it to keto over long term will add to the data we already have. Let's remember science is not capable of absolutes, as new data is analyzed we refine our hypothesis, this is our goal.
@@mosfet500 I'm very aware of the SDA studies. There is zero need to experiment on eating non-human animals that are just as alive as a baby is. Obviously eating animals requires "destroying" a life. I understand your point though that since these individuals are already eating this way then the experiment isn't imposing any sort of ethical violation. And as you've said we already have those studies. I do not believe we are obligated to learn more about what happens when we eat animals. We already know enough. Now it is time to stop and evolve forward on the premise of eating vegan. Clearly vegan is the most ideal on every level. So we only need to be studying how to take veganiam as far as possible and do everything in our power to avoid the continued exploitation and de-evolving practice of eating animals. But of course there's going to be people that will study these things nonetheless so it's not like we need to invest in that direction when others probably will continue to.
@@VeganLinked I agree, a lot of propaganda. The meat, dairy and egg industries have quite a bit to lose, that's for sure but just like cigarettes they will continue as long as possible to create doubt around their products in the hopes of keeping people hooked on them. Propaganda is a very hard thing to overcome when it has the force of money behind it and these industries have learned from tobacco and personally I don't think most meat eaters will be converted, just like there are smokers today. People only want to hear what enables them to keep doing what they want. I have an older brother who has already had two open heart surgeries while I don't take a single med. He will never stop eating meat and his wife will never stop smoking even though it is killing them both. It's like climate change, people are being flooded and burned out but they still won't admit CC is anthropomorphic.
I did a short visit to the morgue in nursing school. My instructors sister was a pathologist. I found it very interesting to see the cancerous breast tissue vs normal tissue and had a hard time with chicken breast after this. I get it! Lol
I can't speak for him, but what I know is they are better than animals but whole plant foods are best. So, no. Just eat whole plant foods, and a healthy variety
Yep, Consuming animals is toxic. All I did was remove them from my diet I changed nothing else for the 1st 6 years and my blood work improved significantly. Then I switched to Whole plant foods to take it up a level. Sure processed foods are bad just not as bad, at least certain ones, let's not get too carried away lol. Now doctor Joel Fuhrman may put it differently, e.g. he says a bagel is just as bad as a chicken sandwich. But he's being dramatic really. Nonetheless his point is valid because of his "nutritarian" focus.
@@VeganLinked Explain how grass-fed beef is toxic? What are your triglycerides level, HDL, fasting insulin, HbA1c? Be careful with certain plants, they carry lots of defense chemical compounds.
@@congangbannuocgietdan1410 the origin of disease coming from eating animals has been observed at least as far back as the 1800's when all livestock was free range. Concentrated animal feeding operations were not in effect until 1976. Yet in 1960 there was already a significant, positive association between eating animals body parts and "there was approximately a threefold difference in risk between men who ate meat daily and those who did not eat meat. This is the first study to clearly show a dose-response relationship between meat consumption and ischemic heart disease risk." pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6527990/ But the mechanisms of action have been getting stronger and stronger. And they appear to be independent of whether the animal is grass fed or not. If you look into oxidated dietary cholesterol, oxidated heme iron, cholin and carnitine metabolizing into trimethylamine n oxide, endotoxins, arachidonic acid, siailic acid, etc... you will find many mechanisms of action causing inflammation and endothelial lesions progressing into macrophages and ultimately resulting into clogged arteries. These are just some of the ways in which animals are toxic. Plants have on average 64 times more antioxidants so they are anti-inflammatory. And those toxins you're talking about are destroyed when sprouting or soaking or fermenting or cooking and because we are much bigger than a little bug they really doesn't hurt us even if we do consume a little here and there. Plants are protective against heart disease and premature death. They promote endothelial health if you don't wait to long to go vegan and aren't abusing yourself in other ways at least...

I have been vegetarian for over 10 years. I'd love to make the leap to veganism but my lifestyle alone is so challenging and I feel judged constantly. Any advice?
Veganism is a philosophy. This is exciting that you're wanting to move in this direction. Sure it can be challenging but it will never be more difficult for you than it is for the animals. So always consider who the true victim is. When you truly go vegan you do it for the animals and you find a way to make the diet and lifestyle work. Maybe try to find someone who's already vegan that you can make friends with and learn from and talk to. Watch some documentaries like earthlings and Dominion and for a quick one watch Dairy is scary. Follow nutritionfacts.org to learn about nutrition. Consider the daily dozen app that's free and easy and back by the most comprehensive analysis on nutritional science. It's all about eating legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices in a variety of each. In addition to nutrition you may want to consider other lifestyle behaviors to maximize your health span. Lifestyle medicine has six pillars they focus on. Those are social support, stress management, not doing drugs, getting good sleep, exercise, and nutrition. If you are having difficulties with any of these considered Consulting someone who practices lifestyle medicine. :-) One of the things that some vegans regret is not becoming vegan sooner but also not becoming an advocate sooner. There are all different types of advocacy programs out there. Find one that fits your style. Some are more in your face some are more laid-back. Feeding people is probably the most effective way to educate and being a good role model and understanding human behavior. Keep learning all you can about these things if you want to be the best advocate possible.

I had been vegan for eons before I found out I have a REAL gluten problem (Celiac is in my family and I have a definite intolerance) and had to stop eating so many of the foods I relied on. I have to say that being a gluten free vegan sucks.
I hear yah, I'm not gluten sensitive or celiac but pretty everything I eat doesn't have gluten. I suppose I wouldn't miss it. I don’t think of anything we have that has gluten
Many more gluten-free products... including vegan foods. I've done both for years. Lots of support from the PCRM, Forks Over Knives, Challenge 22, Veganuary, etc. Good luck!

That was true in the beginning. Things changed once Adam and Eve ate of the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil". Jesus ate fish and bread. The Israelites ate lamb, goat, fish and dairy ( not from cows though).
Regarding the beta carotene study showing increase risk of cancer for the for the cohort taking the beta carotene supplement: that original study included another cohort that is never talked about. That never-talked-about cohort took vitamin E plus beta carotene. This cohort actually had a lower risk of developing cancer than the control group. Why is that cohort never mentioned?
I am not a vegan yet, eating animal products everyday, but I cut down the amount, and upped my veggies and legume. Already, my total cholesterol went down from 271 to 215! Just by taking baby steps! I cant wait to do more, it's just I am having a hard time giving up diary because I am terrified of osteoporosis. Also afraid of ca supplements because I hear they cause kidney stones. I want to stop popping pills even if vitamins and minerals if I can get it via food. What to do.
Impact exercise is excellent for protecting against osteoporosis as well as vitamin D and lots of greens for calcium, nuts and seeds, etc. A lot of doctors say seem to think a high acidic diet like one with a lot of animal causes calcium to be used from the bones to neutralize the acidity. But there's some contradictory science as well. The bottom line is, eating animals isn't stopping the majority of people with osteoporosis from getting it. So, it may be something to rethink. Definitely stay away from calcium supplements unless your doctor of course prescribes otherwise. And consider a lifestyle medicine practitioner over a traditional doctor.
I've been a full on vegan for about 2 years - do not want animals on my plate. I thought slaughter houses are/were SICK even before when I was an omnivore - I eschewed cheap store bought meats in favor of pasture raised cow muscle. From there I went vegetarian for a while before switching to vegan. As a full - fledged vegan today I drink Vitamin Water made with Reverse Osmosis water with 100% daily of added Vitamin B12 instead of supplements. My question for Dr Barnard is: do I still need to add B12 supplements pills to my diet?
Barnard may not be able to answer this from here. I think though that the only way to know is to get tested. I imagine these doctors would way just drink clean water and get your vitamins from whole plant foods, and supplement B12. It's cheap and easy enough. And supplements have been tested the most. B12 can be tricky to test. Serum levels may not be accurate and you may have reserves for some time before you're out. So it's best to stick to some regimen of taking a supplement. I take a sublingual 2,500 microgram dose once a week on Sunday.
You should look more into Dr Neal Bernard he talks and great lengths about womens health, I think he even has some content about menopause. I will be interviewing some doctors this week though and I will try to bring up that question. :)

@Zombie Yes, the high calorie junk...AKA animal products!
Your life sucks. Water fasting and intermittent fasting your whole life. Fuck man. Enjoy life.

Same here, he's one of the inspirations for me as a future doc myself. It's unfortunate that WFPB Nutrition isn't taught in medical school, but it makes sense- it's a threat to big pharma!
All doctors need more nutrition training in medical school.
Most doctor visits treat the symptom and not the cause. No wonder people never get better.
It's by design, big pharma controls the med schools! I'm a future doc myself, Dr. Barnard is one of my role models. WFPB for the win!

Hi Kara: do you take a multivitamin? 53 years is a long time. How is your health? I’d like to go 100% no meat. I’m 99% there.

Wow, thanks for sharing. Where are you located? Send me an email id love to get your story! Wfpb@veganlinked.com

I get it! Lol
Not to mention, that chicken breast is contributing to breast cancer!
Great video! Love Dr. Barnard 🤓 When was this filmed?
I videographed it a couple of months ago.
@@VeganLinked Cool, thank you! I'm always curious how recent responses are, especially when thinking about science-related topics. Nice work!
Keep it plant based! So grateful for all the great work that the Physicians Committee is doing to make people and our planet healthier!
🙏🏼👍🏼❤️
Hello doc
Great presentation
What are your thoughts on vegan meat substitutes
Are they healthy???
I can't speak for him, but what I know is they are better than animals but whole plant foods are best. So, no. Just eat whole plant foods, and a healthy variety
No they are not healthy. Look at the ingredients. (Canola Oil)
What are Dr. Barnard's body composition and biomarkers? He was saying processed foods are better than cheese and steaks :-). Wow, oh wow.
@@congangbannuocgietdan1410 My triglycerides in 2010 just before going vegan were 80 and HDL was 45 and LDL was 107. Total 168. I went vegan right after that.
7 vegan years later triglycerides went down to 48, HDL up to 52 and LDL down to 60. Total 121
@@congangbannuocgietdan1410 my glucose stayed the same at 85
I really liked the final point about the word “moderation” being misused to justify bad habits.
Love listening to you !
He is 68???? Wow!!! Actually Plato believed that a society that eats meat requires more doctors.
Is there anywhere you can get sample day of eating vegan menus for starters? thanks.
They do offer some menus on their website PCRM
Dr Michael Greger has an excellent book "How Not to Diet Cookbook" based on Whole Plant Based Nutrition. Has suggested weekly meal plans.
Excellent interview! Thank you!
Hey, did you recently message me or join the website or something, I recognized that name recently and then saw it again...
I think humans have tamed certain animals to have food when there is no plant food (winter, drought etc.) With the arrival of refrigeration this got out of hand. I’m so glad I use my fridge now and I only put plant food in it.
I love this doctor! And he's a walking advertisement for eating a plant-based diet.
Excellent interview!
One of the things that some vegans regret is not becoming vegan sooner but also not becoming an advocate sooner. There are all different types of advocacy programs out there. Find one that fits your style. Some are more in your face some are more laid-back. Feeding people is probably the most effective way to educate and being a good role model and understanding human behavior. Keep learning all you can about these things if you want to be the best advocate possible.
I've been vegan for almost 12 years now I will be 47 this October and have no major health issues I take no meds on a regular basis the only thing I take when needed is sometime I may take a sinus pill or a tylenol I don't eat perfect I eat vegan junk food yes but not all the time but one thing I can say is it's the best choice I've made and it was my daughter that showed me the videos and info on it when she was younger then I went from there and looked into it myself and officially in 2012 that was it for me.
He IS Hilarious!!! 😂😊 I love His Honesty Thank God for Him! I’m going to eat like a Gorilla 🦍 This was a one stop shop for me! Question: Have anyone get headaches starting to a vegan diet ?
Some people get headaches detoxing. Some people get headaches fasting. I imagine they would go away in a couple of days at most.
Good luck!
If you suck being gluten free.. Then you should watch this channel raimbowplantlife
Can we have this video cc in Chinese language? Thanks!
Working on it!
A wholefoods plant diet is healing.food is supposed to fuel the body to function at its optimum level, not to weigh it down & clog it up with harmful toxins.
This needs to be shared not to just to the vegan demographic. This needs to be shared everywhere!
don't hold back! :) I have another channel too that is not vegan, it's www.TH-cam.com/neofilm. It was my first channel and more music oriented and just whatever... I put vegan stuff on there from time to time to hit the more nonvegan audience also. I try to put my better vegan work videos on there. I'll be flooding it soon with content also :)
I love this good-natured guy
Wow!!! Great video....will be watching this again!!
Eating the way God intended. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. He made us, He knows what is best. Read the bible and find it all there.
Well, fish and wine too in the bible.
I’m Christian and agree with you: God wants us to eat pants only
That was true in the beginning. Things changed once Adam and Eve ate of the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil". Jesus ate fish and bread. The Israelites ate lamb, goat, fish and dairy ( not from cows though).
Thank you for remembering the suffering of animals Dr Barnard.
Attend a Q&A and ask Dr Greger or send a message directly to one of these doctors
We are thankful for Doctors Barnard, Gregor, McDougal, and the like💚
It’s so wonderful to hear someone speak the truth. I’m eleven years on a plane based diet. No pain. No pills. It works.
So many could benefit If other physicians had your wisdom and kindness
@@VeganLinked Thanks. I really like your point that eating meat has not stopped osteoporosis.
My question for Dr Barnard is: do I
still need to add B12 supplements pills to my diet?
Barnard may not be able to answer this from here. I think though that the only way to know is to get tested. I imagine these doctors would way just drink clean water and get your vitamins from whole plant foods, and supplement B12. It's cheap and easy enough. And supplements have been tested the most. B12 can be tricky to test. Serum levels may not be accurate and you may have reserves for some time before you're out. So it's best to stick to some regimen of taking a supplement. I take a sublingual 2,500 microgram dose once a week on Sunday.
Great video.
You've said cheese is one step away from vaseline because of its high fat content.
But vaseline is petroleum based - so what do you mean?
Thank you very much Doctor !
does this work for women in their 50s going through menopause?
You should look more into Dr Neal Bernard he talks and great lengths about womens health, I think he even has some content about menopause. I will be interviewing some doctors this week though and I will try to bring up that question. :)
