1914 -1918 Denmark. The Government told its population to "eat what the animals ate" and to stop eating animal products, as part of the war effort to avoid starvation. When the "Spanish " European bird flu arrived in Denmark in 1918, hardly anyone died compared to the rest of Europe. They were not starving and they had strong immune systems. Ref Dr John MacDougal.

As a parrot owner I am still EXTREMELY WARY of NONSTICK PANS. Sellers are often very good at shrouding the actual chemical composition of the nonstick surfaces, and some are potentially more dangerous than others. I don't want my companion bird to die, and I don't want to breathe in anything that is potentially toxic to him either. There are good ceramic nonstick that do not run the risk of releasing toxic (odorless) fumes. That is what I use.

@@maryannsinopoli1751 I would advise anyone with a parrot simply not to make use of ANY cookware that is identified as “non-stick”. It is impossible to safely rely on manufacturer’s claims regarding the exact chemical composition of these coatings. In addition, the scientific literature I’ve seen has only broadly stated the potentially lethal effect the colorless, odorless fumes from “non-stick” cookware can have on a parrot. I have yet to encounter detailed information.
I do know a highly experienced breeder who might be able to provide me with more info. In the meantime, I would play it safe.

They are designed to fill in some of the gaps or hard-to-get nutrients but not the nutrients we normally would have plenty of with plant based diet. There may be others, but those are two high quality ones I know of. Hope this helps someone!

In the UK there is a sudden emergence of plant based junk food. So being plant based is no longer automatically healthy.
In supermarkets in the UK it is easy to find vegan bacon, crisps, burgers, French fries, chocolates, cakes, pastries, cheeses, desserts, hams, pies, sausage rolls, ready meals, chocolate bars, sweets, drinks, milkshakes, ice-creams, pizzas.... everything!

True, in the USA as well. It's convenient to tell someone I'm vegan, when they ask me, because people immediately associate vegan=plant based=no animal products.
If I tell them I'm wfpb I'll have to spend 10 minutes explaining what I eat.
But I think the problem is for new vegans. Old timers, like me, know that all that plant based processed food is not much healthier than meat... Actually I think it's worse.

Well I'm 62 now I ate grains all my life no butter small portions of chicken and beef, etc. and I have to give thanks to grains for mi diabetes my obesity, flatulence, acid reflux, and a long list of ailments. So 20 years ago after the "carbohydrates addict diet" book I stop eating bread and potatoes, years later I stopped eating rice and beans and now I just don't eat grains, starches, sugars, I eat a lot of butter, beef, chicken, green leaves vegetables lots of cheese and all my problems went away. Lots of energy no problems with my arteries I don't look my age. Opinions??

Julie, You should listen to Dr. Terry Wahls who put her own MS into remission some years ago by dietary changes. Also listen to Dr. John Mc Dougall on this subject. Both say that for those with MS, fat - and saturated fat in particular- is a major problem. Dairy foods would be a big problem but other foods also. Theyre worth a listen. If we can eat our way to bad health, we surely must be able to eat for improved health. More and more people are successfully doing so. I hope you can too. Good luck and blessings for the journey.

Calcium must be taken with Magnesium in the ratio 2:1. And D3 helps with absorption. K2 (Mk 7) removes calcium from arteries and retains it in the bones.

Why cant people understand the simple concept of balance?!?!! If youre getting too much iron it means you are consuming too much of the same food! Rotate things around hello. One week i eat a ton of spinach, the next week it's kale, then bok choy, then whatever else thats green. Rotate your fridge dont just consume the same thing all the time.

I would be glad if the vegan doctors would enter the field of "medical" supplementation. From American Orthomolecular doctors like Frederick Klenner, Dr.Jungebluth, Dr.Abram Hoffer, Dr.Hunninghake, PHD Andrew Saul ( Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine 👌🏻) ; Swiss and German patient- centered ((( - as well as the Physicians Committee )) doctors I learnt a lot about *Iodine* (from Dr.David Brownstein - Iodine is needed by all glands - like in the breasts which have receptors for it !!! - means it is important for its health & cancer prevention ) *Omega 3* _ algae, *selenium* - cofactor of iodine ( Natriumselenit), *zinc* , *vit.C in g r a m s* over the day and against a l l viral infections a n d against bacterial infections, Q10 : cardiovascular !, muscle, *Vit.D* 5000- 10 000I.U/ day, *Magnesium* - for 500 processes in our bodies _ super important - also for heart health, *glutathion* , *taurin* for heart rhythm, B1, B12 of course but not too much, B5,Folic acid ( but under strict blood control) , Vitamin A and E, Glucosaminsulfat and Chondroitinsulfat for the joint, pycnogenol - inhibits tumor initiation !!!, arthrosis, high blood pressure, heart health, glaucoma, macular degeneration .... , Quercetin : mitochondria, detoxification, biogenesis of mitochondria etc. .., boron ( brain function, antiinflammation, mitochondria, osteoporosis prevention & therapy, etc. ...) silica ( for blood vessel stability and elastility !!!! , epithelium, b o n e s ( matrix), hair and connective tissue
I have checked as much as possible to adjust supplementation. ( knowing that the blood norms were set after having collected the blood data of 🤔🤔🤔 i l l people ( mostly ) - means their compromised situation is nowadays the NORM ?!?!!!! )
The book I take precise scientific knowledge from is "Mikronährstoffe- Metabolic Tuning - Prävention - Therapie " by Uwe Gröber ( pharmacologist who writes/ publishes for medical profession, but I can also understand it ) . The book has a preface written by Prof.Bruce Ames, Dr.Abram Hoffer and Prof. Uhlenbruck.
I would love you d i v e into the field of nutrition more. 😀
As studies revealed the soils are e m p t y and dead - s o : h o w can the plants contain what we need ?????? They c a n n o t ! The soils ( European study) contains 1/10 th of the Minerals & trace minerals as it used to have a hundred years ago before industrial agriculture ruined it . And destroyed soil, I learned, will take several decades (60?!?) to recover- with microbial richness to transport the minerals into the plant ....To declare a piece of land as 'organic' does not mean that the soil has recovered !!! So the vegatables may l o o k good but n o t contain what they could, were they healthy.
