    Me: so this guy is Troy, right?
    Also me: shows screenshot of Tuomas 🤦🏻‍♂️
    Oops. That was just coincidence. I know the band members. I was trying to get back to a restarting point for when I unpaused it, and when I clicked forward it went to Tuomas. I didn’t even notice until the video was already public.

      Thanks for the "in between". I just think it adds to getting a feel for the band. Emppu is an underrated guitarist, imo. He plays what the song needs, no more, no less. Can he shred? Yes. Does he feel he has to...only if the song needs it. They are ALL about the music. You can see it in their faces, their smiles. Call me a fan boy. I don't care.

    This song is legendary on its own right , and this song was my first Nightwish song that I heard back in 2004 .
    Also this song can be heard in the ending credits of the 2005 film The Cave.
    Tuomas Holopainen has stated that the title is Latin for "nobody" or "no name" and the song is based on his occasional feelings of being lost, longing for the past and feeling nameless.
    Solid reaction !!!!

    Emphasis on the first syllable in Tuomas (TOO’-oh-mas). I too, sometimes wish to hear more solo from Emppu, but I think one of the things that makes him great is how he just plays what fits the song. Wembley 2015, Buenos Aires 2018, and Tampere 2015 all have great songs to check out. My favorite Emppu solo is from Dead Boy’s Poem, Buenos Aires. Keep exploring Nightwish.

  • @NickBR57

    Jukka gets quite carried away with stick flipping in this one.
    Great song from the old catalogue revived and enhanced with Troy on the Irish Low Whistle.
    And yes, you pronounced Tuomas correctly.
    Emppu can do crazy but choises only to do sonic it gits.
    Romanticide, Stargazers, Sahara and many more.
    Wembley 2015 great (7 Days please), Buenos Aires 2018 as good as Wacken IMO, Tampere 2015 excellent too. Those are the big 4.
    Then there's the earlier 2005 End of an Era concert with Tarja, well worth a listen and contains the stunning tribute to Pink Floyd, High Hopes.

    Troy Donockley is amazing. He's the 6th member of the band and he's English, plays the Uilleann pipes (characteristic national bagpipe of Ireland which is inflated by means of a small set of bellows strapped around the waist and the right or left arm), tin whistle, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone and vocals.
    Btw. Want to hear Troy singing in Gaelic, playing the Uilleann pipes and the lowwhistle? ........ watch *_"My Walden"_* (live in Tampere, Finland): th-cam.com/video/J8Xwr1kTEdk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Nightwish

      I always thought it was Welsh, not Gaelic. I listen to a lot of traditional Irish and Scottish music and it doesn't sound Gaelic. A comment I found from 7 years ago on Reddit, from HarlequinValentine confirmed it, quote: ....... 'It's Welsh as far as I know. This is from someone on the Nightwish forum who asked a Welsh friend: "Sain y niwl" is Sound of the mist. "Gaunt y goydwig fwsog" should be "gwynt y goedwig fwsog" which means wind of the mossy forest, but "gwynt" can also mean smell instead of wind. "Gwenithfaen, cen y coed, ar lleuad" is Granite under trees and moon. Last line is something like weave my wings to life's tapestry........ End quote!
      In Gaelic it would sound like (+/-): Fuaim a' cheò, Gabh a' bhean-ghlùine còinnich, Granite, crotail, 's a'ghealach, Aon waad de mo latha gu grèis-bhrat na beatha
      That is according to Google Translate, and we all know it isn't the best one. LOL.

      @@MisterJ56 Kan ik eens in 't Vlaams antwoorden, oef. Ja, ik ken ook niet veel van talen en zeker geen streektalen of dialecten maar ik had het ergens gelezen dat het Wels is en ik luister al meer dan 40 jaar naar Keltische muziek voornamelijk Ierse en Schotse en ook Bretoense omdat dat zeer dicht bij elkaar ligt, ik heb het niet zo voor de Engelse vooral door de manier dat de Engelsen in het verleden (en nu nog) omgegaan zijn met de Schotten en Ieren . Ik heb meer geschiedenis geleerd door naar muziek te luisteren dan op school. Ik had heel graag Gaelic geleerd maar ik denk dat daar geen beginnen aan is. Net zoals Fins, veel te moeilijk. Voor nu "mar sin leat"/"moi moi" (goodbye in Schots Gaelic/Fins), "Tapadh leat"/"Kiitos" (dank je) voor je aandacht. LOL.

      @MisterJ56 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mariogansbeke Haha, ik ga het niet eens proberen …… Fins …… ik houd het maar bij Kiitos (dankzij Nightwish 😉). Ik vind Nederlands, Frans, Duits en Engels al voldoende ……. op m’n 65e. Toevallig kortgeleden op de tv een aantal documentaires gezien over ondermeer de dialecten/streektalen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk (Ierland, Schotland etc). Deze zijn jammer genoeg aan het verdwijnen zijn, maar gelukkig zijn er nog een aantal die daarvoor strijden. Alvast prettig weekend.

    • @mariogansbeke
      @mariogansbeke 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MisterJ56 Ja, door het minder streekgebonden zijn van de mensen transformeren veel streektalen naar een algemenere taal en gaan veel dialecten verloren. Jammer, daardoor verdwijnt ook een groot deel van de lokale cultuur.
      Inderdaad, 4 talen is ruim voldoende om je begrijpbaar te maken en onze meertaligheid is een enorm voordeel ten opzichte van bijvoorbeeld Engelstaligen, vooral Amerikanen dan. Dat merk je iedere keer als je naar hun reactievideos kijkt.
      Van mijn kant wens ik jou eveneens een prettig weekend.

    This is such an iconic Nightwish song (the piano intro is instantly recognizable) and was a big breakout song for them. Floor is incredible here but for me this song fits Tarja's dark witchy operatic voice better. Definitely should checkout the official music video with her or her live from the End of an Era concert. Also should checkout Floor and Troy acoustic on Planet Rock for this song as well as How's the Heart. Just amazing. Last Floor also performs Nemo in her solo show from back in September. The official video on her YT channel is just gorgeous and shows a different and stripped down arrangement that is also beautiful in it's own way. Troy is playing the Irish low whistle here. From the same show he and the band perform an instrumental, Last of the Wilds, while Floor is changing her costume. Celtic folk metal with Troy on the Uilleann pipes or Irish Bagpipes. I want my Tears Back is a great song and the Wacken version has a great interaction between Empuu and Floor ( he turns her In ears off and she stares him down when he tries again) but the Buenos Aries live performance is just epic with the crazy Argentinian fans and Floor dancing like crazy. Another great reaction and I am really enjoying this ride with you.

      @@judedornisch4946 I feel you , I agree with the over all feeling of renewal , my opinion is based solely on a technical aspect , I like Nemo because of the contrast of normal voice and the super high soprano voice tarja was able to accomplish and I like sleeping sun because of that high pitch ethereal eco-wy magical voice tarja has , i mean I’ve seen floors vocals , I feel like she could give a closer feel of what we’re used to in those songs but I feel like she switched them to more of a belty more powerful version because she didn’t want to look like she was copping tarja , i get it, make it your own , your own style , and that worked great for most of the songs , but those songs have a special place in my hart specially sleeping sun and I just love that ethereal feel tarja adds to it.

      @@oziequelque2057 I agree, it is clear in this performance that it was a very conscious choice to have a distinct tamber contrast from the past. That is why I suggested the context of the performance.
      What I find very interesting is that it was a group choice. While the sources are not the best and spotty you can actually hear the sound develop throughout the tour until that point.
      But that is Nightwish, possibly the most complete band of their generation.
