You make my day Roland, I love your channels, I feel so happy to watch you cook, I also learned new cooking techniques and recipes, thanks a billion 😊😍💖
Finally made curry right, even though I was low on curry powder. I had to use very old powder from a South Africa--it was a Cape Malay mix and I figure that's pretty close to Singapore. Doubled the recipe and subbed shrimp paste for belacan. Made it soupy so I can eat with egg noodles.
Roland, if I would like to prepare more ingredient for future cooking, so don't have to blend whenever I wanna cook, should I fried the ingredients & keep in refrigerator, or without frying?
Hi sorry do u mean the shallots should be fry together with the paste or blend it together with the other ingredients to make the paste? and another noobie question, how did u dry roast the belacan?
Hi Angeline, please blend the shallots together with other ingredients and then fry as per the video. To dry roast the belacan, you can either pop it in your air fryer and give it a quick roast at 180C for 5 - 7 mins or just dry fry it in a pan -- no need to add oil. Just fry until the belacan crumbles. If you can wait, this weekend we'll be uploading a video on sambal belacan. In that video, I will show you the dry frying process. Hoep this helps. :)
Hi Larry. So sorry for our late reply. Yes it’s quite similar except that it’s in dried in blocks and not wet. Taste wise they are quite similar. Hope this helps.
