Kevin, If this is about the top 10 chokers. I am pretty sure Brett will be on this list. Clutch is winning when it counts most. How many playoff games he blew in his career? Joe Montana, Roger Staubach, Terry Bradshaw, and other great QBs lost many playoff games too but they didn't commit blatant and foolish mistakes. Brett did it so often for so many years, it is hard to beat Brett for being the #1 choker of all-time. If Mike Holmgren had a better QB such as Arron Rodgers, I am sure the Packers would have won more than 1 SB.
Ok, hear me out before you comment. 1. Joe Namath, 2. Joe Montana 3. Dan Marino. I was in the third or forth grade when Joe Namath played. On the playground he was God, below the President of the USA. let me speak. When I was a kid the president of the U.S., win or lose, we respected whom ever won. He was our president. My mom cried when Kennedy was assasinated. We love our country. That was just the way things were back then and should be now. Back to Football, Namath was in my childhood memories and as we all know. Childhood memories stay with you. So I grew up and Namath was the greatest. I did not keep score of states just TV. Along came Montana and as a growing adult. I saw the magic. He was in my mind the very best. Now, Dan Marino. He was in public more, I saw and thought he was a good person, saw him as a role model. He was just an all around great person and as such a great football player. States are not important. The man makes the man. But I must be honest and say, Joe Montana is the very best of them all. I am a 49'er and have been for 46 yrs. will not change.
Daniel Chachanashvili he's also to lose a couple of Super Bowls along the way, multiple INT's in his SB games, and he lost those games to who again? ELI MANNING?!!! BAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHWHA..,,.fuck you if you think Brady would survive in the NFL when Montana was 4-0 with 0 INT's and 3 SB MVP's and putting up his HOF numbers...get all the way the fuck outta here with that bullshit..
So you know nothing about football? How many points are scored isn't directly comparable to how well you played. If that were the case, the '72 Dolphins should listen to you and denounce their Super Bowl 7 Trophy when they won 14-7. Look at Brady's stats for the game, and watch his final TD drive. You're talking crazy and you're clearly blinded by hate. I don't even like the Patriots and find your comments BS.
Arthur Dean The man leads all QBs in 4th quarter comebacks. That's not clutch? He ran his teams effectively enough to constantly be in the playoffs, go to three SBs and win two of them. That's not clutch?
John Elway should be number 1, Joe Montana had arguably the greatest player of all time on his team in Jerry Rice and just had a good team, John Elway made his team good when ur able to lead a team to 5 Super Bowls with the teams he had to play with and against, come on Elway is the clutch QB GOAT
Xavier Vega u can't hold just him to it though the whole team played like dogshit, he had no RB (TD came in 1994 I believe), no real good receiving threat(Shannon Sharpe came in 1990), no o-like, and Steve Atwater defense that's it
He would have so many more comeback wins but his defense just finds ways to give up leads with 1 minute left with the opponent backed up in their zone...
That is so true! After that SB loss to Joe and the 49ers, if Boomer spent the time to study that game, it was his poor performance that lost the SB. The 49ers didn't play a very good game or they would have scored at least 35 points. The Bengals offense was worse and almost helpless with such poor passing. If Boomer could get an offensive TD, the outcome of the game might be different. But that is what clutch is. Boomer's playing career was nowhere near clutch.
@@benthekeeshond545 i agree ben i thought the bengals defense played well to hold the 49ers to a low scoring game, in fact all the games the bengals played the 49ers in the 80s were close tough games
You can't call Brady more clutch than Montana when Eli Manning out clutched Brady twice in the superbowl consecutively. Montana never choked in the superbowl.
Super bowls are only one part of the NFL. Montana has not been to the NFC championship after those four Superbowls and 1990. Brady has made it there 15 times and has double the amount of Superbowls and appearances than Montana. Brady also was more durable in the playoffs than Montana.
Montana went one-and-done 3 straight times, losing by a cumulative score of 103-40, throwing ZERO TD passes and 4 INTs. Let me know if Brady ever does that.
@@PedroMartinez-tt7lr you should while that is true do factor that Montana did face tougher competition compared to Brady. Brady's the clutchest because of his dominance overall in the 4th quarter compared to Montana. However I know one thing: Montana didn't face Eli twice in the super bowl
@@TheMidnightGhostg0000 You're right: Montana lost to Wade Wilson and Phil Simms BEFORE getting to the Super Bowl. Who do you think is better? Eli or Simms and Wilson? Brady played v. Peyton, Von Miller, Ray Lewis, the Greatest Show on Turf, the L.O.B., Mahomes & Co., won 2 AFCCs IN PITTSBURGH and an NFCC at Lambeau - among other opponents. I'd say he faced some tough competition too.
Could Elway have won 4 SBs with those 49er teams in the 80s? Yes. Could Montana have taken those Broncos teams to three SBs in the 80s? Maybe, but I don't think he could've stayed healthy. Elway may not have been more clutch than Joe, but he was certainly as clutch. I'm not degrading Montana. Joe was awesome. I'm just elevating Elway.
SH4D0WXR33CONt1 What are you like 18? Apparently you weren't old enough to see Brady play his best. Brady RE-INVENTED the clutch QB position. No other QB was/is like Brady since Joe Montana's days

I bet all these guys now would pick Tom lol. Heck Tom best out joe back in 2015; really Before that but after that Atlanta super bowl there was no question and I’m not even a Brady fan I just recognized how insane he’s career is and I’m glad I got to watch it I think 2000s nfl was the best. 90s was great to but liked more passing that the nfl did in the 2000s but also still running it.
What kind of argument is that? Is it better Joe lost earlier in the playoffs and didn't make more Super Bowls? His 4-0 Record only means he made it four times and lost earlier in the playoffs more often than Brady.
@@wardsquidcirca1999 And like, significantly less playoff wins to. I think losing the Super Bowl is a more accomplished season then say missing the playoffs altogether.
I see alot of Tom Brady comments. Brady has been to twice as many Super Bowls as Joe Cool but has also lost 3 of them. Considering Joe hasn't lost a Super Bowl but has been to half as many, what do you consider more clutch? Of those years Montana didn't make the Super Bowl, he didn't do too well in the postseason. Brady has been to more conference championship games than any other quarterback, so it's really tough to determine whom is more clutch. If Brady gets another ring, might have to give him the nod. If he loses another, tough to argue Joe's place on the list. Either way, Brady has a similar style to his childhood hero, Montana. Brady is so humble that he would say Joe is the better QB. Personally, I think Steve Young was better overall than both QB's due to his mobility, but doesn't have enough Super Bowl wins to establish himself as the greatest even though his stats from the 90s are outstanding.
QB drives everything ...get this right ...and your styling ...look at Buffalo now with Allen ...look at Bears without the right QB ...you dig? You get me? 🦁
"Give Tom Brady the tools and he goes 18-0" And chokes against the Giants in the Super Bowl. "But he got his team the lead with 2:30 left". So we should excuse the fact he did precisely dick the other 58 minutes of the game?
Only reason why Montana is (for some reason by idiots) sometimes considered better than Brady is because Montana had the greatest WR of all time, throughout most of his career. You could give any QB Jerry Rice and they’d be good, not saying Montana isn’t good, just Jerry Rice made him that much better
You dumb af tho. Montana won 2 super bowls before he had Rice. Plus he took the chief's to the AFC championship. Brady on any other team would suck. The Patriots system works for any QB. Look when Brady was out for a year in 2008 and Matt Cassel gave them a 11-5 record. And in 2016 with Jimmy G they went 3-1. So saying Brady is better than Montana is funny cause of you put him on any other team he just an average QB and put Montana on another team he takes then to the AFC championship at age 38.
@2:32 Tom Curran is the official New England Patriots Insider for NBC Sports Boston. You can't trust a fanboy, even one in the media to be objective. My rebuttal to the "Brady never had a Jerry Rice or a great defense" argument: Randy Moss HOF Wide Reciever Patriot from 2007-10 and Junior Seau HOF Linebacker Patriot form 2006-2009. And with those two on the 2007 team they went 18-0 until SB42. NYG had one HOF on that team that year: Michael Strahan Defensive End and no HOF wide recievers. Brady and company should have won if we are to believe he is the most clutch because they had enough time to get down field but Brady missed a hail marry to Randy Moss and that was that. @2:57 Boomer Esiason was the Bengals QB from 1984-92. He led the Bengals to Superbowl 23. My rebutal: Boomer, are you still salty about that? With 3:10 left in the game you were ahead by 3 points with the opposing team needing a field goal to tie or a touchdown to win. The ball is on the other team's own eight-yard line and would have to march 92 yards down the field in under three minutes to win the game. What happened Boomer? Oh that's right, the team you were playing against was the 49ers and 3 minutes for Joe Montana is an eternity. So when you say, "He still had to make the plays and he always seemed to make the plays in the biggest spot", I believe you would know when you watched Montana with 34 seconds left, throw the game winning td to John Taylor. (By the way Boomer, you had greatest Tackle in the history of the game with HOF Anthony Munoz on your team that day so quit with the "But Joe had weapons" bullshit. A gun is only as accurate to it's target as the marksmen holding it.) In conclusion, you have the NE Patriots Minister of Disinformation and a first ballot Hall Of Alright offering their two cents while the #1 Top clutch Qb of all time is just chillin' on the golf course or whatever a GOAT does these days.
Hey, give the Bengals credit. They were led by Ken Anderson and Boomer Esiason in their two Super Bowls against the 49ers, and what do they do? They give the 49ers dynasty a run for their money.
@@lcrossmk8563 You're right. The Bengals were a powerhouse in the 1980s. I get alittle testy when I hear Chris Collinsworth or Boomer throw shade at Montana's accomplishments. They should know how brutal that era was to play in, let alone have the level of success that Montana did.
Don’t forget the new innovative offense that Bill Walsh brought to SF. Remember the first 25 plays were scripted? The 49ers were in the cellar for years before that.
I disagree with this list because the rules of the league changed so much that Montana would not have flourished in the way that Unitas and Staubach did because for starters, they were not allowed the spike the ball into the ground to stop the clock. Also, the receivers were held up at the line of scrimmage, and back then the league had fierce safeties that were allowed to decapitate any receiver who dared try and catch a pass in the middle of the field. How good would Jerry Rice had been if he was held up at the line by Mel Blount? Would he have even dared to catch a pass over the middle of the field with the likes of George Atkinson, Cliff Harris and Jack Tatum liking him up? This list does not take these rules changes into account, and for that I disagree with it.
no way jay Cutler more clutch he been to the playoffs and has always made it to the championship only to lose to the superbowl champions lets just ignore the fact he's only been to the playoffs once.
Brady is #1 and I’m 100% an 80s kid. Montana’s career stats would be more impressive if he had the same protective rules set that Brady has had”. Just like Brady’s would be lesser is he had LT or Reggie Whites helmet driven into his chin. The protective rules for QBs also effects career length, in turn effecting career stats. Regardless... these stats say it all - 83/122 Comp/Att - 1100 + yds - 11 TDs - 0 interceptions - SuperBowl record 4 - 0 DONE SON
elway should be #1. he had a bunch of nobodies on his team for the majority of his career. he led them to a bunch of Superbowls, even though he lost. when he finally won, he had TD, Sharpe, and a defense.
If you think an imperceptible amount of air didn't leave the footballs (including those of the Colts) due to the Ideal Gas Law then I'm guessing you are undereducated. Montana WAS the GOAT. No objective observer thinks that now.
@@benthekeeshond545 I can tell that you have never played a meaningful down of football in your life. Maybe tennis is your game. Either way - Congrats!!! Be thankful you got to see the G.O.A.T. - TB12 - play!!!
Opinions don't count as much as a Super Bowl Championship game. Once upon a time, both the GOAT and Elway met at a Super Bowl. The result was astonishingly one-sided. Ask Elway who is the better QB?
Want to know what I find funny AF pats fans put all the players that have played well for them down just get an argument for why Brady is greater than Joe but there argument is pointless 2 sb losses both to the Giants in which both Brady should have decimated those giants defences three of his rings were won by viniteri and one was by bad play calling and for that matter he shouldn't have got to his first one tuck rule he cheated twice Spygate and Deflategate if he didnt have veniteri -3 rings and if Pete Carroll wasn't a complete idiot and ran the ball -1 more ring the only one I give him credit for actually winning was sb 51 he rallied from 25 down
IF if if, its in the books deal with it. Just maybe I'll play the same game. If Dwight Clark doesn't make that lucky catch the Cowboys go to the Super Bowl . In the Super Bowl If Ray Wersching doesn't put up 14 points and the Defense doesn't show up ( 5 sacks 4 turnovers 8 penalties and don't forget that goal line stance ) then the Niners don't win. If New England's defense holds the lead both times the Giants lose. IF Kearse doesn't make that miraculous catch the Seahawks are not in scoring position. If Brady doesn't get the Pats in scoring position the kicker doesn't get a chance for the win. See how that works. Everyone can play the IF game.
Oh joe has defence rice craig he has everybody, uh that because the greatness of the goat bill walsh. It ain't his fault bill walsh could draft player.
Most Boston answer, Gretzky's #1? Uh uh, Bobby Orr. For me with the NFL I rank players before 2000 and after 2000. If Montana played after 2000, he would not be hit after releasing the pass or hit in the head and neck area. His receivers also wouldn't have to learn karate to get open. They would just get illegal contact penalty calls all day.
Chip Geron without Brady New England doesn’t have 6 Super Bowls . Your whole system argument theory is flawed. Brady never had a Jerry Rice. Montana wasn’t part of a great system ? Lol you’re a moron

Jerry Rice has to learn karate to fight dbs off him and use the umpire to prevent contact after 5 yards. Patriots were better than the rest of the NFL and had every rule to help them succeed.
@MrRicklynch57 the steelers were a formidable for. The ravens were a formidable foe. Also, the Pats played in the salary cap era. Keep in mind that there was no cap in montana's time. That made things easier for the niners to be a dynasty
Kinda surprised Brett Farve isnt anywhere on this list
Kevin Navarro why would he be on here have you seen how many ints he threw in a playoff game.
Too many int's in clutch moments
Because he choked to many times.
Kevin,
If this is about the top 10 chokers. If Mike Holmgren had a better QB such as Arron Rodgers, I am sure the Packers would have won more than 1 SB.
i think brett still holds the record for most interceptions thrown in a season
No eli Mannig top 5 of all time in 4the quarter comebacks 2 Superbowl comebacks and clutch plays?
legend guinyard but also a lot of horrible plays between that and a lot of terrible seasons

Greatest qb

thats so true, when u finally give brady a weapon, his stats are ridiculous. but when u take any weapons away.... his stats are amazing...
And yet with those weapons choked against the Giants in the Super Bowl.....twice.
He didn't choke. He played well in both games.
I wouldn't call 14 points by the offense playing well. 17 points the second game. Brady himself would tell you that is unacceptable.
Wow. Not one mention of Manning in the top ten. How do you justify that?
smokert5555 both mannings
smokert5555 Peyton is anything but clutch ?
Arthur Dean The man leads all QBs in 4th quarter comebacks. That's not clutch? He ran his teams effectively enough to constantly be in the playoffs, go to three SBs and win two of them. That's not clutch?
@Edmund Blackadder He's not the only guy on the field. His stats are comparable with Brady.
Come on NFL Films. Clearly Nathan Peterman is the REAL #1.

DAMN RIGHT!
Elway choked in 3 Super Bowls.
Xavier Vega the fact that he got them there single handed is amazing
If Elway would have played well and they STILL lost, I wouldn't hold it against him. But he played like dogshit all 3 Super Bowl losses.
Xavier Vega u can't hold just him to it though the whole team played like dogshit, he had no RB (TD came in 1994 I believe), no real good receiving threat(Shannon Sharpe came in 1990), no o-like, and Steve Atwater defense that's it
+Carson Guild If he was good enough he wouldn't need weapons. Look at Brady in SB 49.
No drew brees in any of the top 10?
He would have so many more comeback wins but his defense just finds ways to give up leads with 1 minute left with the opponent backed up in their zone...
I'm guessing they made this vid around 2010
Air date May 6th, 2008
Brady and Montana, if ur against them, you dont know that youre winning until the end of the buzzer
Brady has had top 10 defenses basically his whole career. Pats fans tend to only look at the offensive side of the ball when defending him.
Of course Boomer would hate on him after he destroyed his only chance at getting a ring
Big hating #Goatana
The Clutchest Quarterback is not Montana it is Tom Brady. Also, where is Eli and Peyton Manning on this????
Close top 3 clutch QBs All-Time:
1. Montana
2. Elway
3. Staubach
Tom Brady has a more decorated resume but if it’s under 2 minutes and game on the line give me Joe all day .

@@denniswilliams6519 Still less playoff losses to Brady
What do you think now?
QB drives everything ...get this right ...and your styling ...look at Buffalo now with Allen ...look at Bears without the right QB ...you dig? You get me? 🦁
Joe Montana is number 1 but I think Terry Bradshaw should be on this list not number one but somewhere
"Give Tom Brady the tools and he goes 18-0"
And chokes against the Giants in the Super Bowl.
"But he got his team the lead with 2:30 left". So we should excuse the fact he did precisely dick the other 58 minutes of the game?
Xavier Vega thing is he should have decimated that giants defense that team went 8-8 in the regular season he should have put up more than 14 points
That’s now 6 Super Bowls chump
@@tomw3886 No. They went 10-6 in the regular season and tore through the NFC playoffs on the back of Eli Manning and their rock-solid defense.

They didn't call him "Joe Cool" for nothing. That dude had ice in his veins, and ALWAYS kept his cool under pressure and distress

Where is Eli at
Only reason why Montana is (for some reason by idiots) sometimes considered better than Brady is because Montana had the greatest WR of all time, throughout most of his career. You could give any QB Jerry Rice and they’d be good, not saying Montana isn’t good, just Jerry Rice made him that much better
(And Dwight Clark)
You dumb af tho. Montana won 2 super bowls before he had Rice. Plus he took the chief's to the AFC championship. Brady on any other team would suck. The Patriots system works for any QB. Look when Brady was out for a year in 2008 and Matt Cassel gave them a 11-5 record. And in 2016 with Jimmy G they went 3-1. So saying Brady is better than Montana is funny cause of you put him on any other team he just an average QB and put Montana on another team he takes then to the AFC championship at age 38.
Camden Cilley Be sure to know what you’re talking about before you post a comment on TH-cam
I guess y'all never heard of Thomas Edward Brady
Who?
Never Heard Of Him....
A gun is only as accurate to it's target as the marksmen holding it.)
In conclusion, you have the NE Patriots Minister of Disinformation and a first ballot Hall Of Alright offering their two cents while the #1 Top clutch Qb of all time is just chillin' on the golf course or whatever a GOAT does these days.
Cool Joe was the GOAT for a long time. He was awesome.
He has clearly been eclipsed.
Don’t forget the new innovative offense that Bill Walsh brought to SF. Remember the first 25 plays were scripted? The 49ers were in the cellar for years before that.
20 cowboys fans did not like this
I disagree with this list because the rules of the league changed so much that Montana would not have flourished in the way that Unitas and Staubach did because for starters, they were not allowed the spike the ball into the ground to stop the clock. This list does not take these rules changes into account, and for that I disagree with it.
no way jay Cutler more clutch he been to the playoffs and has always made it to the championship only to lose to the superbowl champions
lets just ignore the fact he's only been to the playoffs once.
Regardless... these stats say it all
- 83/122 Comp/Att
- 1100 + yds
- 11 TDs
- 0 interceptions
- SuperBowl record 4 - 0

I think this needs to be updated
Montana was very good, but I would have Tom Brady and Roger Staubach higher with Ken Stabler just behind them.
elway should be #1. he had a bunch of nobodies on his team for the majority of his career. he led them to a bunch of Superbowls, even though he lost. when he finally won, he had TD, Sharpe, and a defense.

How is Eli Manning not on this list.
You are exactly right. In fact, he's more clutch than Tom Brady. He straight-up outdueled TB12 in two Super Bowls and in the regular season.
Idk I’d rather have John elway

Montanna is the best ever. 4-0 Superbowls. Brady 5-3 in Superbowls. I would put Brady at #2 and Manning at #3
