      I’d say if he (Revan) lost, he’d sure as hell give him a run for his money, better than anyone else ever did. My reply, can Thrawn beat Revan in ground combat. Gotta remember, Revan led both space and ground combat, literally from the front in both cases, in two wars. Killing the enemy leaders at times in single combat. Pretty sure Thrawn is utterly fucked if it comes to ground, and fighting Revan directly, ehh, not sure, that’s a certainty. Both great characters, in just space combat, like fleets, I’d say Thrawn has a slight edge. Anything ground, including both at the front, Revan slaughters him every single time, personally and militarily. Which says a ton, of his skill, he didn’t just do one, he did both, and the best overall fighter of his time, second only to vitiate in single combat, though that isn’t even a fair assessment, as he had to fight a ton of crap to get to vitiate first. Your also forgetting he came long before Thrawn, so for the time he was better, when scaled for the time and tech. Give them both completely equivalent ships of the same time period, and equal numbers, Revan would win probably 50/50 I’m willing to bet.

    As you pointed out, Revan and Malak fought together twice. Both times Malak lost, first his jaw, then his life. Malak only THOUGHT he had beaten Revan, and that was only after Malak engaged a weakened Revan.
    Don't the facts presented in your video disprove its title and claim?
    I will say, though, Malak did embody the description of an apprenticeship in the Rule of two. He did envy and covet the power Revan had (only more proof that Revan was actually the more powerful).

      Not really. At best its evidence against the claim. If they were equal in power then a fight would be 50/50. The odds of revan winning a 1v1 with 50/50 odds twice are 25% which isn't that unlikely.

It took TWO Armies to take down Revan (whose Body had gone insane and separated from his Spirit) including one of his own Jedi descendants (from him and Bastilla) working along the Sith to stop him from Resurrecting the Sith Emperor to kill him (and the dumbasses ALL failed because they killed him...right after he resurrected Vitiate. When they were jedi yes, but as time went on the gap between Malak and Revan grew since Malak feel to the dark side while Revan just chose it. This is proven by the fact that Revan was able to beat Malak twice despite Malak being the overall better duelist (the writer himself said malak was a better duelist). Malak was angry and reckless while Revan was able to stay calm and calculated during their engagements. Also to give a counterpoint to many people's arguments no Malak isn't weak because your op build could one shot him. The boss fight just happens to be easy like every other boss fight in the kotor games. In reality I'm guessing it was actually Revans hardest battle up to that point, the games just happens to have easy bosses in general. My overall point is yes at one point Malak and Revan were equals but Malak's fall to the dark side while making him more powerful, only served to make him weaker than he could've been. Also don't judge power levels by in game interactions especially when it comes to Kotor games. Tell me, since Kratos has a problem opening a box would you say he's weaker than the box? I hope no, game developers implement things like that so the game can still be fun, and in a heavily story based game like Kotor things like difficulty get sacrificed in favor of better story. After all, if Malak was frustratingly difficult many people would quit before they could finish the game. Thanks to whoever reads this and have a great day/night

    I have played Star Wars Knights of the old Republic, and Malak was very much inspired by the Darth Vader like Sith. Big, imposing, brutal and absolute merciless. He didn't play with his enemies, or wasted time to decieve them. He went out to destroy. Revan from the little we know, he was a thinker whos goal was behind a puzzel door, while Malak just brought a sledge hammer toget further.
    But Malak was also a show of Revan's failure. Revan was a genius, no one can deny that, but his plan on corrupting the Jedi so that they are stronger against the Sith... well Malak was a proof of the weakpoint of that entire plan and well we all know how that ended. The more important question might be, was Revan too restrained to fall to the Dark Side to kill Malak, was he too arrogant to think that Malak could ever best him, or was there still trust and friendship towards someone who ceased to exist the more Malak had gone into the Dark Side?
    Both are awesome characters and show the archetypes of the Sith established by the original trilogy. The Manipulator and the Enforcer. But still are their own original Characters.

    ...your Hot-Takes are getting pretty bad dude. Malak? As powerful as Christ Figure Revanchist? His name is literally a play on Revenant. English is my second language and yet I seem to understand the colloquial meaning as well as the lore. Side note, your fanboys are rabid. They harass anyone who disagrees with your videos, but that's probably because they hope you'll notice them (so they can then infect your Discord or whatever). @@elijah3320 Hmm...I guess that *could* be correct given the right circumstances but then neither of them would be in full power (IE yea, he'd probably kick the shit out of Revan while he's been mind-wiped/no longer has his force powers/etc. and has to deal with an army of blood thirsty Sith Acolytes, etc.). And yea, that's the only reason I keep watching this guy's videos. Way too much clickbait man. Ignoring the fact that most of the video is just moronic rambling about their backstory and his actual argument is absolute garbage at best, the points he brings up to defend it have all been explained or are obvious. Malak definitely is NOT more powerful than Revan, considering he fought him twice and lost horribly both times. He tried killing him with turbo lasers, unsuccessfully, might I add. He was basically Revan’s bitch the entire time. The claim that Malak was more charismatic than Revan is ridiculous too. I don’t see hordes of people flocking to Malak like they did Revan. Revan commanded people through sheer leadership abilities and personality.

    • @StriderBaron
      @StriderBaron 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@morganpryde9125 I'm actually with you on this. I'm generally too nice to say these things (unless it's among friends, etc.). The only way Malak could have killed Revan was if he had gone full ham at the VERY VERY beginning (IE when Bastilla tries to sacrifice herself, etc.). It'd only be technically correct in that sense. Other than that, Malak is many leagues below Revan (he himself admits it. He was only after Revan's title just for an Ego boost. He didn't truly understand the responsibility or weight that was on Revan's shoulder the moment he learned for the true Sith Empire). I'd argue that the Galaxy would have been a lot better had Revan gotten what he wanted.
      As for Geetsly...again. With you on that. I was just watching a similar channel talk about Count Dooku and it was some non-Nerd going off of Wikipedia (didn't even know Dooku's real name. To quote this other TH-camr, "When Dooku left the Jedi Council, he became a Sith lord named Count Dooku"). I'm like..."what". I'm about to hit my early 30's. I've given up. He just wanted to the destruction of the galaxy merely for the sake of destruction and has no conviction like whatsoever. The Sith Empire of his has no reason to exist at all, let alone ruling the galaxy or stopping the other groups of Sith. In other words, Darth Malak has no conviction in what he is doing but simply letting jealousy gets the best of him while his Sith Empire is existing for no reason but simply to showoff his power as its ruler.

      Malak is overshadowed by Revan for good reason. Revan’s charisma, leadership and strategic mind, defeated the Mandalorians, probably would’ve brought the Republic to its knees, and he came out on top against Malak on more than one occasion.
      Malak just betrayed Revan while he was distracted by having to fight a team of Jedi and then took over Revan’s forces and continued the war without much of a clear strategy.

  • @xinimaru7200

    If you ask me, Revan and Malak were equals, but had different styles of combat. Malak was a great sith warrior, he just lacked the patience Revan had, or his end goal for that matter. Losing his jaw to Revan more or less made him come to the conclusion that he could not risk anything with Revan, hence his plan to try and kill all of his enemies in one fell swoop by attacking Revan's Interdictor. But I feel his troubles didn't end there. We do not see it in game, but I suspect many doubted that Malak had beaten Revan in single combat, hence his obsession with Revan in the later part of the game. By killing the reformed Revan, no one would ever question his authority again. Malak worked so hard, only for his chance of glory, and the Star Forge blew up in his face.

He's got the physical edge, the brutality, even the voice box. He was cool and all, but it was obvious they were trying to make him like Vader, but the thing is they made him a less interesting character because of it. Give him some dark armour, give him more climactic appearances in Kotor and he would've been a better antagonist. It would've been amazing to bring him back as a cyborg Dark Lord in TSL sequel along with the Sith Triumvirate.

    He then comes face to face with him on Karath's Flagship because he knows Revan is nowhere near his original self & so is willing to toy with him before Bastilla sacrifices herself.
    Even in their last duel, he had the odds stacked highly in his favour, enhanced by the dark energies of the forge & consuming the life-force of injured Jedi. Despite all of that he still failed fo defeat Revan. The ultimate failure & nowhere near Revan in any attribute whatsoever.

      @austinkersey2445 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Except he was. They respected each other because each could do what the other couldn't. Malak was a boots-on-the-ground type of leader. He preferred to fight in the trenches and propel the troops forward. He was noted for his ability to boost morale and save battles through his tactical brilliance, while Revan was more of an armchair general who utilized strategy to win battles and wars. Malak was a great short-term thinker who used his environment to his advantage. Revan was a long-term strategist who planned his enemies movements, his own, and those of his allies. It's the same contrast that Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi had. The primary difference was that Malak was much more level-headed. Revan won because he has sparred with Malak enough to know most of his tricks. We don't know how close their duel was, as that was never disclosed (to my knowledge). We just know he lost his jaw. It was likely close. The main problem is that KOTOR doesn't reflect the lore. Because, how well you do against Malak is dependent on your abilities and skill. It's the same reason people use the Force Unleashed novels over the games from a lore perspective, as the depiction of Galen Marek is quite overblown in-game.

Revan was smart enough to know not to depend on the Star Forge and was strong enough on his own to almost defeat the Republic and was charismatic enough to bring Jedi over to his side where as Malak more often had to torture Jedi to get them to turn. Was Malak powerful yes was he physically better yes. But it's stated that Jedi that looked at Revan through the force literally thought they were looking at the center of the universe he was that powerful and even the Sith emperor respected Revan. Take this claim with a grain of salt but I think it's even said that Revan was the one to gain back control of his mind and he helped Malak to get his mind back. Either way in my opinion Revan was always more powerful and Malak had to depend on others or the Star Forge to compete with him.

    saying he could fully utilize the power from the star forge doesnt really say much about his personal capabilities. from kreia's point of view, relying on something else, especially a machine, is actually a weakness. because it implies that the strength he wields is not his own, and so without the star forge's capabilities, what would he be? an interesting question. no doubt he was still the dark lord for a time and is very powerful
