Cocodona 250 one mile at a time

Yo, you dudes wanna hit up the Cocodona 250? I'm thinking we just wing it, check it out, nothing too gnarly. Should be fun. Yeah, you read that right, “just to check it out, “should be fun.” That’s what Jake said.
We didn’t even question it. He said, “it should be fun,” so we sent it. Full send! Threw some gear in the van and cruised toward Arizona. Did we plan? For your mental sanity, let’s say we did.
Justin kept talking about how we’d hit up the springs in these chill towns and grab dinner at some rad spots he knew. I was in full vacation mode. Never been to Arizona before. I don’t think it hit me that we were crewing someone for 250 miles.
Honestly, I don’t think Jake knew who he asked to crew for him. He asked Justin and Elmer, the two most ADHD dudes on the planet.
You can have a deep convo with Justin and think you’re on the same page, but really, he’s just thinking about the color of the wall behind you.
And me? Ask me a question, and I’ll give you the dumbest, most unrelated idea ever. Total space cadet.
The van was silent, the road was bumpy, and the desert heat was pumpin’. We were on our way back to the main road from Crown King Saloon. This road is so long! You think we’ll be able to hit up a spring once we get to the main road? I quickly pulled up the maps, did some long division, counted on my fingers… (big sigh)
After realizing we wouldn’t be driving alongside Jake for 250 miles but instead driving all around Arizona to get to the checkpoints, subtracting time from our chill dinners and spring dips, I just didn’t answer. We locked eyes, and he knew. That’s when it hit us: oh shit, we’re crewing 250 miles, bro. WTF.

Great job!! I enjoy Arizona so much. I’ve never done more than a marathon, and I struggle to see beyond that limit. If there was ever an ultra of interest, though, the Cocodona 250 is definitely the one I’d choose to see all of the places by foot. Thanks for sharing your time and thoughts; it was a beautiful teaser, and, like the others are mentioning, I’d love to see the full-length video. :) Congrats on the finish!
