No cauliflower?!?! No ma'am...this is not of The Lord!!! I've given up potatoes, pasta, rice, and bread in all its glorious forms (stuffing, I'm going to miss you most of all). Sorry, but you'll have to pry the cauliflower from my cold, dead hands!!!
New people thinking of doing keto watching this video, I ate 90% of these they're naming and lost over 130 lbs in just over 6 months. Just because THEY are telling you they are avoiding it, doesn't mean YOU have too! Obviously they aren't using keto to lose weight, they just choose to use keto to eat on a regular day basis. They can cut anything from their diet, experiment all they want, this is how they eat but for someone beginning you want ALL the option you can get.
@@dennonmcarthy2476 they go by what works for them and not what works for everyone. So, they really aren't using the scientific method all the time but are pretty close
1) Soybean based Mayo 2) Chicken 3) Sugarfree candy 4) Pasteurized dairy 5) Coffee 6) Store bought salad dressings 7) IMO fibers 8) Berries 9) Nuts/nut butters 10) Certain veggies They do mention several times tho, that these are just their own personal preferences. Not something to be treated as doctrine. And also, on most of those, they aren't avoiding them completely, just having them less.
I'm glad I didn't see this video when I was first starting Keto 5 months ago. Your early videos and recipes are what made me excited to change my eating habits and encouraged me to cook more. The biggest motivation for me to stay on Keto is the ability to make substitutions for the majority of foods I use to eat. I've only lost about 16 lbs., but I've stopped gaining weight (a big deal for me) and I eat better than I ever have. I'm 71 years old and don't exercise at the level you guys do so I don't burn a huge amount of calories. For me the mindset of being on a restrictive diet for life is very demotivating. I don't think of Keto being that restrictive even though there are things we don't eat.
Well said. There are substitutes for everything if you aren't following strict keto 👍 I think that's why so many people find success and better health on keto.
I have found that 95% of substitutions is dissapointment. It is not the same, it is not as good, and it is often a lot more work. For most of the things id rather just be without than wasting money and time on something that's never going to be what you dream of anyway. And there is so many good and delicious things that you CAN eat, so why make pancakes and white bread and pizzas when they are never being as good, or the same, and they are more expensive and time consuming on top? Yeah, for beginners the thought of it is great, I have obvious been there myself, otherwise I couldn't make this conclusion that its not worth it - for me at least.
Couldn’t agree more. As a foodie, not being hungry isn’t enough to make me happy. I need to know I can still have delicious variety. It’s cool for them to make any personal choices they want of course.
Huh???? Did we watch the same video? He did specify RAW veggies. Avocado is the only RAW veggie (technically a fruit) that he eats. 11:44 She cut out cauliflower because of the digestive issues, but she will eat salads if the spirit moves her. So, where do you get your info that they eat ZERO veggies? Some people have selective hearing.
@@tayashley3539 Nope, I did 3 years of zero carb prior and no constipation issues, also Appeal to authority is a fallacious argument. It depends on your body, some people can go zero carb and be fine, and some can't.
Most people (but not all) who say they love the taste of coffee really mean "cream and sugar (with coffee) tastes so good. Sugar is just as addictive as caffeine.
Brittany W I like it black or with monk fruit sweetener. I love the Keto coffees also. However, those who prefer real sugar to artificial sweeteners love sweet coffee.
I'm the same way. For me, the addictive drink is tea. I have to stay away from it because I like it with loads of monkfruit and heavy cream. Coffee I love with MCT and a bit of cream.
Spot on Megan! “Figuring our what works best for you is a good way to go about it.” *This has been my approach since I started Keto.* The flexibility of Keto allows for metabolization adjustments based on each individual personal bodily requirements. *Eat to suit your dietary needs not others.* Thanks for sharing!
I like coffee but after I found out it uses the one of the highest amount of pesticides besides chocolate I started buying organic, also coffee drinkers have lower cancer rates. But they think it makes you have metabolic syndrome bc it makes the adrenal glands make cortisol which raises the internal cortisol levels. It also raises insulin levels even without artificial sweeteners it habit forming as well. Also my mother drank it daily for 20 years and died of cancer so it’s not full proof. She used sugar though....I don’t have kids yet but I haven’t been able to give it up. But I’ve tried to go one day last week. Just one. That’s all. And then I went back.
The video is called foods “we” avoid, not foods YOU need to avoid! They make a lot of good points, take it with a grin of salt and do what works for you.
Exactly, Rachel. People need to realize that this is just their opinion and experience. It's really not the end of the world. People just need to find all of the acceptable Keto foods and choose the ones which work for them.
Rachel Groeschl 💯 agree!!! They aren't recommending we do the same! IDK why people think they need to do the same. I'll still continue eating every food they talk about, and respect their decision to not or eat them in moderation.
You can live on keto without nuts, dairy, and coffee, I am living proof. The only veggies I eat is brocolli, romaine lettuce and spinach. Sometimes I add onions to my eggs to do something different. Why keep eating something that makes you bloated, even if it's healthy
They kind of say in the video: High-quality cheese, mayo, avocado oil dressings, olive oil and vinegar, some heavy cream, avocado, and some greens along with beef and fish and other good fats. Occasional nuts and chicken. And we know they eat a lot of eggs. That doesn't sound too crazy to me, especially if other foods cause GI issues.
I do not understand the comments. I am curious so that is why I clicked on the video. Just because someone does something different doesn't mean you have to be rude.
But they eat all this stuff in other videos. They don't come across as genuine. They want attention found their niche and trying to milk it. Did u see their Cheat video.... it was a joke.
They are sharing what presently works for THEM. Some of the other videos mentioned are probably from some time ago - check the dates. It’s not hypocritical , they are simply evolving in what they are doing for themselves over time, since they’ve been doing keto a long time.
Been following you guys a while and enjoy your content but I didn’t like this video.. you seem to be eating pretty much a carnivore diet not necessarily keto, no vegetables? No nuts? So red meat, fish bacon and avocados? That doesn’t seem sustainable in my eyes, and discouraging with the major restriction to those who want to do keto.
They eat all that they mentioned in one way or another .... in moderation or she does or he does... or they both do. There is only one thing that as a hard no for them MALTO DEXTROSE AND ISO’S
I completely agree! its there job now, she said in the beginning. Honestly I shouldn't wake up everyday and have this burden about what to eat???? that video was not helpful at all
How?? They quite clearly state that this is what THEY have changed in their diets, but that they aren't completely eliminating any of it, just being smarter about it. If people want to be scared by what others do on keto, try following REAL keto. What Matt and Megha represent is keto that is both healthy and easy to do. Restrictive is what Dr. Berg does.
canadian girl I understand what they meant, but as someone who is coaching several women who are new to keto, I can say they would definitely watch this and have a downward spiral trying to figure out how or if they need to adjust everything they know...and they just barely understand macros.
@@GarmanyRachel well, real keto wouldn't allow for most of what they mentioned. Besides, how many times can they say to do what works for you??? If people don't understand that, then that's not on Matt and Megha. People need to be smart for themselves, not just rely on others to spoon fed them 👍 I mean that in a positive way, to empower yourselves not just follow others blindly.
@@idyllicacrylicsjulieb4328 I'm new to Keto so could you explain why these things aren't allowed on "real keto?" I thought you could have fatty chicken and cauliflower rice on keto?
@@quratulainkaleem8351 you absolutely can, but there's not a lot of nutrition in either. Red meat is loaded with nutrients. Cauliflower is okay, but things like kale, broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts, and spinach are not only nutrient dense, but promote great gut flora and digestion. With "real" keto (medical based nutrition) you also wouldn't eat sweeteners as they have an impact on how your brain perceives food. Now I, for one, won't ever eliminate any food permanently, but I greatly limit those things that aren't whole foods. I occasionally eat berries (who wants to be scared of a raspberry, right 😂), I eat chicken (in fact I eat low fat meats a lot and add in butter or coconut oil), and I bake treats or make keto ice cream. If you watch this again, and I think many people should judging by the comments, Matt and Megha make it abundantly clear that this is just what they have done for themselves, but to do what works for you 👍 I think too many people skipped over that point 😂
Yes! Im here because 2out of 3 of my kids are overweight. I have no idea what Im doing wrong. Im definitley thinking its all the carbs we eat. From pancakes, waffles, French toast, breakfast burritos , buscuits to dinner w/pasta, breads, rice, potatoes, bread crumbs. Its literally in every meal in my diet. these people must only eat meat , veggie, egg, cheese, water.
@@stephaniesanchez7321 how's it going? I hope you are finding the wonderful low carb bake mixes as well as just increasing the protein and veg content of your meals. ❤😋❤
IKR! I'm planning on starting the keto tomorrow (technically in two days, since I'm going shopping at midnight tomorrow, and I don't have any keto stuff rn). I'm new to this, and literally just saw Megha make and eat a cauliflower mac and cheese and say that it was good. And I just saw one where she made three dishes or sides or whatever with chicken. So confused rn, but whatever.
Dont be picky when you are a keto beginner. Just build good macro habits and watch for hidden carbs like maltitol and maltodextrin. You will naturally fine tune your micronutrients down the road as you go. macros are the important thing in the beginning.
@@lonnisplace1459 Megha did not say that cauliflower tasted bad , she clearly said it doesn't make her feel good after eating it. I think red peppers, and corn and hot dogs taste great, but they make my stomach hurt so I don't eat them often because later i will pay. They don't claim to be doctors and explained that they learn as they progress in their journey , so cut them some slack, I eat cauliflower as rice and I love it but it doesn't hurt my stomach we are all different as far as what makes our stomach hurt.
@@marizensoul8410 Okay???? But, it was still confusing. I know that we are all different, but if she's going to make some videos where she eats something and says it's good, and then later says that she doesn't eat it or she's allergic, it makes no sense to me and it's confusing. I'm just commenting my opinion
Making pizza base from it I love it pasta was main staple cheap & filling 5 mins to prepare even made my own 3 flavours but it sits watching now feeling left out ☹️
Some comments seem to be people saying you're making them feel bad and that you shouldn't be saying this stuff. I didn't think the video came off like that at all. Its a 10 things video. Its your opinion at the moment. Its not you preaching at people. Its things that work for you.
After reading the comments I feel like I watched a different video. They never said “don’t ever eat these things”, they share what they do and repeatedly say to do what works for you. It offers great ideas for people who are struggling and might need to tweak things. Thanks KC.
Please don’t delete your videos. They show a natural progression of how you and your diets have evolved as you became more knowledgeable and more experienced.
I started watching you guys because you guys were pretty simple and now you're getting to complicated. Its a little ridiculous! What im I syppose to do with your cookbook now?!
Their cookbook doesn't suddenly become useless just b/c they've changed their personal diet lol. You don't have to eat like them. You do keto the way YOU want and what works for you.
What would you do if you had a specific ingredient allergy and it showed up in one of their recipes? I mean, it seems pretty obvious to me what you do with the book: you continue making the food you enjoy as long as you don't see unwanted effects (weight gain, quality of life stuff, etc). They're not wearing lab coats, they haven't done breakthrough research into the foods they are avoiding, they've just customized their personal keto diet based on their personal experiences.
Their cookbook is still valid and filled with great recipes, they just are more restrictive of their diets to feel even better than they did being more loose.
Disappointing video. I’m new to the keto lifestyle. This information is too restrictive for beginners. I prefer Dr. Berg’s approach, which gives a balanced and less restrictive approach to eating.
Lydia Murphy I find that balance is so important. I will not take out veggies and fruits that have helpful nutrients. I will eat them very sparingly though for calorie and sugar content.
@@lylarosewild Been researching about keto diet lately. This couple hardly eat any veriaties of food. Would you happen to know what do they eat? Just fatty meats and very little veggies and nuts?
After being on keto for a longer period of time you focus less on what is going to just make you lose weight and what is more healthy. They are obviously in a maintenance stage and are now focusing on what is healthy and makes them feel good vs. what is unhealthy like certain oils. At some point you will get there too and it is ok to revise what you eat after certain periods of time.
@@danielleflaharty-pastorino9008 exactly. I feel like the person above will eventually switch to clean keto, which is way more beneficial to your long term health. Also...Dr. Berg is super restrictive. More than these guys FYI
Lydia Murphy + I know it's been a year since your comment, so I was wondering how your faring with the keto diet? I hope these two did not discourage you & that you found what works for you...
There is a therapeutic level of Keto and then there is just Keto. Adjust to what works for you. The therapeutic level helps with epilepsy and other diseases, such as diabetes.
You dislike that they've made further changes to improve their health? No one said you had to do this too, eat a block of kraft cheese and keep it pushing 🙄
A lot of people don't have the cash to eat expensive, organic, grassfed everything. Buy what you can and work it out with your budget. My family buys whatever is on sale. Plain ol grain fed, mass produced/slaughtered animals. Non organic everything etc. That is still a lot better than filling your body up with junk.
Agreed. While I love their product review videos, ideas, and information, I find a lot of the products they feature in their videos and eat on the regular are either too expensive or you need to live in a large city to purchase - if you don't, the shipping for these items is as much or more than the item itself. Unpasteurized dairy products are a perfect example. Nowhere to get them where I live, and when I went to the site they posted on one of their videos for the unpasteurized cheeses, it was crazy stupid expensive for a tiny little 8oz brick of cheese, and cost more to ship it than the cheese itself cost. The only dairy products I eat are HWC and occasionally cheese, but when I need cheese for something I just buy a brick of it and shred it myself to avoid the starchy and chemical additives contained in pre-shredded cheeses. You can also freeze cheese after shredding it - it doesn't ruin it.
I lost 40lbs eating keto that was not organic or grassfed, u still get the benefits from it that's all that matters in my opinion I didn't have the funds to be eating all this expensive food I wasn't going to be spending all this money to loose way if I knew I didn't have to to get the benefits of the keto lifestyle
I get a kick out of reading reviews. You guys make it so clear what works for you, and everyone has to do what works for them. I'm amazed how this is missed. It's just shared information that has worked for them - it's not the keto law. Thanks guys - you do an excellent job sharing.
actually mr dipshit. she has a point and by all means if you dont do what you preach that kinda makes you look weak not not confronting them about it. as for their cookbook. They help people and beginners to learn more about keto and recipes to make and if they taste good thats more a motivation to keep living a healthy lifestyle. And also they claimed on multiple videos and vlogs that they Did or do eat some of the products if not all of them mentioned in this vid. But yeah i understand, i mean calling a piece of shit a lord..and bashing on people who make a point.. tells me enough. bye dipshit
my wife is diabetic and going keto One of the things she noticed early on in experimenting to find out how specific foods impacted her was that chicken, no matter how it was cooked, raised her glucose 30 points. Beef only raises it 10 points. Her primary proteins are now beef and fish.
@@tanyathompson4322 All foods raise insulin a bit. According to dietdoctor.com, protein raises it about half as much as carbs do. Even pure fat can raise it a tiny bit. Even stress can raise your bg.
You have to do what works for you. If you're okay with veggies then definitely eat them. Matt and Megha are just letting us know what works for trim in this video and repeat that several times throughout. I was eating about 5 cups of salad in the beginning but always felt terrible. I cut it out and stuck to cooked kale, broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts, and cauliflower. I also add in micro greens when I can. No more bloat and digestive issues. But, that's just me. I think people are watching this video with no understanding of what it being said. Literally it's about doing what works for each person.
I mean its not really necessary to have vegetables AT ALL. 5 cups of veggies is great if you want to poop regularly and often. I just make chia seed pudding and go once a day now. it's easy and tastes better than spinach :(
I've cutout watching Keto Connect vids as much as I used too. You guys have gone your way on this journey and I've gone mine. But I wish you continued success with your channel and stuff.
I appreciate all the information but pasteurization is extremely important in reducing the microbial load. Cows carry pathogens that are harmful to people such as listeria, which is one of the small number of pathogens that not only survives in refrigeration, but can also cross the placenta and kill an unborn child. Please everyone, do your due diligence and research on this before consuming raw milk or dairy.
So do raw sprouts!! But I eat those all the time. I eat raw organic cheddar and Monterey Jack but I have never gotten listeria. Maybe some people might be more sensitive to it but not everyone. I stand 100% behind raw organic dairy and you should too. Itll do way more good than bad to the human body. Pasteurization can be good in very little cases but food is much healthier when raw rather than when boiled.
I have also been worried about Meghas food choices while pregnant, becauseof the risks for the unborn child. If they get lucky and avoid any serious risks, I really hope they arenot one of those crazy people who do not vaccinate their kids...
@@nooranen3178 Vaccines are very terrible for you and your children. Why are you worried about what someone else's child and diet when you put even worse stuff in your child thru vaccines? Obviously you just dont know what's in them.
So.....all the recipes in your cookbook you basically don’t eat anymore if they have nuts, or nut flours, fruit, etc.? Sounds like you two are going carnivore with a little dairy ?
The cookbook seems to focus on making keto more approachable and less intimidating. Matt and Megha didn't eat so restrictively for several years as they transitioned away from SAD. Keto would be nearly impossible for many people if it meant jumping right in with a carnivore diet, but the evolution of Matt's and Megha's diets is pretty common among people who are dedicated to keto for the long haul. Many people have gone from low-carb/Atkins to Paleo to keto to mostly carnivore over time.
Agreed. The reason I initially liked this channel was because it was approachable. While I appreciate evolving, I think it's evolving away from a broad audience. Based on research and my own intuition, I think staying away from veggies is a bad idea in the long run. And, I don't want to argue...I just felt the video came off as a bit smug and really diverges from channels I've consistently liked such as 2fitdocs and dr. berg, both of whom stress the importance of a more balanced diet, while still being keto. In terms of, foods I've moved away from I love Caesar dressing, but even most natural ones have soybean oil, so I've been doing mostly ACV/MCT/EVOO and sometimes I throw in a tablespoon of Marie's Caesar, just because it's so good.
Sharon M I think we are on the same wave length... have you looked at Dr. Gregers nutrition facts page? I combine his, 2fitdocs, Dr. Wayne Anderson, and Thomas DeLaury information as well as dr. Berg. There is a balance betweeen them to optimize health.
Great video, no harm in constantly increasing your education and fine tuning your method. Most people can't stand change, I think it's great that you are honest enough to say "we used to do this, but now we know better." Hard to find that kind of honesty these days. Love the raw milk info. My daughter drank organic grass-fed raw milk in her bottle from 9 months old until 18 months old. Everyone thought I was crazy, but it was a great decision. Keep up the good work!
Gino Lopresti I try to eat as many veggies as I possibly can because of him! I’m currently trying to dream up a meat pie and trying to put as much veggies into it!
I loved this video. While Matt and Megha have good recipes, what I love about them most is watching them progress and experiment with their diet and find what works for them. This has inspired me to experiment with my own diet and feel better than I ever thought possible. Of course, since I keep up with their content, nothing they said in this video is very surprising--they've been talking about this stuff for a while. And as much as I love nuts, too, I can't eat just one serving so I can't keep them in the house. I'm with you!
Foodie Turned Sleevie I love what you wrote! Isn't it beautiful that we can keep trying different foods and ways to feel better . we can change our minds and learn as we go.
I've been diabetic since 05, I've just started the keto diet because my numbers have been creeping up the last few years. I've had a medication change and doing keto for a few weeks and my endocrinologist is thrilled! Just test your blood about an hour or two after certain meals and you'll see how different your food choices are. It's eye-opening!
Stay away from anything pre-packaged especially if it's dedicated to being a diabetic LOL I seen that they even came out with a diabetes-related skin care lotion on like really? WTF? SMH!
Sometimes it’s not very good to deprive yourself completely, though. If something is deemed as “off limits” by your own accord, you’re likely to become consumed with the mere thought of eating them. It’s good to have some, that way you feel satisfied without restrictions.
Macadamia nuts, pecans and brazils are really good for you and great keto nuts. Macadamia especially. The only problem I'm thinking is that I'm really taking in too much omega 6 fats compared to omega 3s.
Love your videos, I have learned so much from such a sweet couple. However, I don't agree with the cutting back on coffee and replacing with decaf. To make it decaf, a nasty chemical is used to make it that way. Your better off drinking regular coffee in moderation.
Just a clarification that may in fact be completely irrelevant to you and your audience . . . A peanut is not a nut. A peanut is a legume (a bean) An avocado is not a vegetable. An avocado is a fruit. Thanks for your channel and your great videos!
We make homemade whipped cream from HWC, Stevia, and flavored extract. Tastes great with berries or you can melt some Lilly's and make chocolate mousse!
Jerome Bocquee Bruh, good thing you have an option to not watch them if you think they are unqualified. Questionably ,you’ve watched more than one video from these guys.👆😂
Rainbow Panda says a lot of just ‘thinking’ and assuming gets us well, I don’t know.... I know what my options are. And I choose to know what the truth is and where I am getting the information. You see the river of knowledge keeps flowing regardless where you stop to fish. Just because I pull a fish out doesn’t mean I eat. I like to know who’s upstream putting things in the river too.
I've been doing keto just a few weeks, but besides removing carbs from my diet, I've tried to read all the labels of the products, and not focussing only in macros but in ingredients. Also, I've been cooking dressings and snacks with real raw ingredients. It has been hard, but pretty tasty and so much healthier!
I really like and admire you guys, but I've been slowly seeing a decline in your videos. Not only are you getting insanely restrictive (the reason I fell in love with you was how you stressed keto can be easy and doesn't have to be strict to work for weight loss), but the joy seems to be slowly getting sucked out of you. You guys don't seem as passionate anymore and it makes me sad! Maybe I'm imagining things, or maybe it's the lack of caffeine (ha ha), but please take a step back and re-evaluate the direction you guys wanna go if you ARE losing passion.
Great info, y'all! This is my own personal end goal: keto intuitive eating! I like eating what feels good to my system, things that are making me feel good. My go-to right now is warm bone broth with ginger and goat butter! SO good for an evening meal and it really helps me end my day with a cozy & satisfying treat that isn't stressing my system before I go to sleep. As far as coffee, I've started to make more "fatty" tea with MCT, cocoa butter wafers, and maybe coconut milk... Super tasty start to my day!! TFS!!
Wondering about your decaf coffee...the process to decaffeinate can sometimes involve soaking in solvents...I don't drink coffee so didn't look into it that much but you guys may want to look into it and see if it is something you think you might want to avoid.
Actually Dr. Berg has a video on when to not eat vegetables. There are some people like me who can't eat a lot of veggies. Abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea, etc. I feel so much better avoiding them. People with conditions like CIBO(bacterial overgrowth in small intestine) and other conditions in the digestive tract should not eat veggies. But, he also says to try eating them again after 30 days. He's not saying to never eat them again, just long enough to give your body time to repair.
Yep... peanuts are just nut-adjacent. They are legumes but act much like nuts in the body.... and legumes aren't good for keto either. I don't do it often... but if I'm having hunger pains then a spoonful of a good peanutbutter isn't horrible and it is all I need.
9 months ago i found your channel and was inspired to start keto. I lost 60 + pounds and have changed my life for the better. Came back to this channel and feel a bit confused on your message although I am clear on my plan moving forward. Where are you headed and what is the purpose? Please be careful, there are many who are new and feel like the the boundaries are constantly moving....
Jennifer Waller what types of foods did you eat? I just started this past week and lost 12 pounds. I need more recipes or types of food. If you can help me out that will be great.
It's always so interesting to hear you guys talk about soy bean oil in everything, from a European standpoint. I have so much trouble getting so many of the keto friendly products you recommend over here (god, I wish almond flour was less expensive!), but at least I almost never ever see soy bean oil in anything. Yay!
During college, I worked on my roommate’s family dairy farm. That includes winters spent inside the barn cleaning up cow dung. There is a reason that milk products are pasteurized as a matter of public health!
yeah, i dont get the disdain for food safety. I get that fancy premium hard cheeses have more flavor than store cheddar, but its really elitist to think that most people can access and afford them
I started following you guys a few months ago - Matt doesn't yell as much and I love your voice, the way you explain things and the way you treat Megha
I appreciate you guys being honest about what you've been doing. I went into the pretty 'popular' keto foods like cauli, nuts, berries, etc. I had my weight loss stall. I eat my carbs at night now (probably 20g TOTAL not net) and i stopped eating fruit all together. Big difference. I mean...night and day. I don't even do protein bars. Meat, veggies, eggs, butter, heavy cream. *no im never getting rid of coffee or i'd constantly want to eat*. Only two raw veggies that i can tolerate is celery and cucumbers. Avocados tear my stomach apart and i want to die. I tend to do really well eating my carbs as broccoli, butternut or acorn squash, maybe some yogurt or some chia seed pudding. Cooked spinach isn't so bad. Onions and bell peppers are still dope. No more peanutbutter or mug cakes. I love to keep it simple. My rule is...if it makes you bloat or hurt your stomach, don't eat it.
Good one for the coffee, was watching drinking mine... :D Started Strict Keto in April and since, I limited my coffee intake to one a day (20 oz though). You guys are a big deal in my Keto lifestyle, you helped me a lot getting back my health and that list will help me to tune my diet on a deeper level. Helpful! Thx for it! Good to hear that you two have improved in healthy eating. Congratulations. I recently stopped eating Almonds & Pecans, not that I had them regularly though. I am not ready to give up my daily coffee. That is my quiet, relaxing time and I enjoy my coffee. I have been thinking of stopping heavy whipping cream in it and go back to using butter only. I have bought Ghee to cook in recently due to me hearing that Olive Oil shouldn't be used for cooking because it's temperature level isn't that high. I am now using bacon fat or lard (grass fed) to cook in too.
I will give up Duke's mayo when they take it from my cold dead hands. In my studies on gut health, it is often the case that if veggies cause GI upset your microbiome is off. This can be because of antibiotic use or past dieting. For many reasons but once you balance your microbiome the ability to digest foods is easier. Avacados are actually a fruit.
That and you can take probiotics or eat full fat yogurt to combat GI upset. I take probiotics any time I start feeling under the weather and it makes a huge difference. You can also take activated charcoal if eating fiberous vegetables like cruciferous veggies causes you wind pain and flatulance.
You know how they say that if you strongly believe in something you are only limited to see the edges of that bubble that continues to reinforce your beliefs? You two seem to be doing a lot of research on Keto and constantly incorporating new knowledge to your daily lives as well as sharing it. So my question is, what is your reaction when you run into research, data, articles... etc that might not be supportive to the keto life style? Mentally, how does that affect you both? Is there a moment of doubt? cognitive dissonance, any of that? I am curious! PS: you are my main keto channel! I just love how GENUINE you two are !
I know you weren't asking me, but generally I look at who funded the research and it's generally not unbiased. Even large institutions can be funded by things like soy oil corporations that want you to think animal fats are bad. I've recently encountered lectures by Nina Teicholz that go into that.
I feel like the way you feel is too undeniable. I'll look at studies and keep it in mind, but studies always have huge margins of error. Assess how you feel, if you don't feel perfect, figure out what you can tweak.
For those with adrenal fatigue and other issues, it would be beneficial to cut coffee, but some people don't want to address these issues. Cow dairy is known to cause inflammation and irritate the gut. Would also be wise to cut.
I bought the Costco rotisserie chicken for a while but for some reason it's stopped tasting good to me. Not sure why. Maybe the dextrose in it or something? I couldn't eat it the last time I bought it. I've been just buying the canned ones if I want chicken salad.
Nuts had to go. I can mindlessly eat a small dump truck load without even thinking about what I am doing. I have replaced them, as a snack, with pork rinds. Not as high in fat as I would prefer, but it is SOMETHING on keto that crunches when you eat it. lol
@@denamarie2542 I'm almost at 60 days pure carnivore, and honestly it's fixed so many problems that I'm having trouble believing it. Not only have I dropped close to 30 lbs, my pre-diabetes is gone, and I don't get headaches between meals anymore. Honestly Carnivore is just Keto turned up a notch, I don't recommend it for everybody as each person will react differently, but for some people (apparently including me) it just works. I am planning to try adding some keto fat bombs, as I think that I may be a hair too high on the protein side, but the majority of my diet will continue to be the pound of ground beef each day around noon
@Cissy Stanford I started with a 2-week test, that turned into 30 days, that turned into 60 days, that's currently looking like a long-haul carnivore. Luckily I live right next to a few farmers whom I trust, I'm pretty convinced that food quality is a huge part of it. If you have access to a farmer's market you should try it
Im so confused... Im here trying to think of ways to restart keto with less animal products. And now everyone is going carnivore 😔. I dont want to go full vegan, but is there a balance? 😕
I think the issue with nuts is that you are getting a lot of omega 6s. Unless your omega 3 ratio fits with it, you are getting too much. I know this is probably my problem. I love my macadamia nuts, pecans and brazil nuts. I eat them everyday along with a melange of pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and sesame seeds. Sometimes that is my only meal with a bullet proof coffee. I have been having muscle strain problems for a long while. I'm wondering if that is related?
you say that but that is how they now make money - people listen to what they say. It has become less of an opinion with their base and as such they should be more cautious especially when they are making LCHF sound so difficult when it is not. It is sad that they now say this with an expensive cookbook out, I bet their publisher is not impressed either.
Dr. Berg promotes "clean Keto" but these kids are feeding their bodies with processed crap it seems. They might be fine now, but there's no way they'll be able to sustain decent health without consuming vegetables (especially greens!) on a daily basis. Just wait until they hit their 40s....yikes.
@@paweloneill5888 dr. Berg says that an artichoke has 11 g of carbs and most of that is fiber so it is a good vegetable to eat. Along with most other vegetables except for corn and potatoes and peas.
Totally understand your concern on pasteurized dairy. At the same time, raw milk has killed people. So research is key if that’s the decision you want to make!
Isabel Tipton they lost me on the pasteurized dairy..... ridiculous! I hope they never use hand sanitizer or anti microbial hand soap because that kills good and bad bacteria too. 🙄
Yep. During my pregnancy there has been 2 recalls on French soft cheeses in Australia! (The things you notice when you 'can't' have certain foods). Most Australian soft cheese is pasteurized so it's never going to win awards but at least no one is going to get Listeria!!!
The Succulent Greenhouse ha ha this depends where you live...air pollution is dreadful and the petroleum fumes are everywhere...air maybe free but it’s not pure by any means in cities
I’d like to echo a lot of the other comments and say that 1) I love you guys but 2) this video is a disheartening deviation from your previous content that has a more holistic, macro based approach. I totally understand that everyone is entitled to eat how they want according to principles they believe in. What I appreciated so much about you guys is how approachable and doable you made keto seem. With this current iteration of your diet, it seems like it’s more about what you WONT eat, rather than what you can/will. I’ve been down every diet rabbit hole imaginable and have been both anorexic and orthorexic. What drew me to keto was it being the antithesis of all the garbage facts I had been feeding myself (pun intended because I hadn’t been feeding myself much of anything). If y’all wanna be carnivore that’s fine! But also keep in mind that your platform is massive and so many people look to you for sound guidance. People that are new to this way of eating that don’t have the scientific understanding of how it works might see this video and assume they simply CANNOT be keto. Again, love you guys. Just something to be wary of.
@@Zyklon_B_still_and_know_God well if people are looking to them to guide them then of course people are going to be disillusioned by what they are saying here.
Umm...alot of your recipes include Cauliflower and since I use your cook books and recipes a lot. Imma gonna stick to it. Coffee no I will not compromise on that. But thanks for all the 411 on each items on the list. Keep up the great work 👍
Peanut butter is like a drug for me too. We stopped buying the creamy because I don’t eat the crunchy but then I started to eat the crunchy so I definitely cannot have ANY because obviously I cannot control myself. 🤤
Cauliflower? I eat that at least 2 to three times a week. I just bought your cookbook and you have all kinds of recipes using the items you just said you no longer eat?
But I literally just bought their cookbook! I'm a huge fan of these guys but now they're starting to contradict themselves. Should I toss the book now that I've spent $45??
you can still eat any of these foods. they are saying what works well for them. this stuff you learn over time. i have been keto for 5 years and i have learned a lot along the way and have cut some foods i used to eat often. they made it clear that you CAN STILL EAT THESE
To eat Keto costs more than just going and picking up junk. My area doesn't even really sale anything made for Keto baking recipes and what little it does costs a ton. I spent quiet a bit just today and it was only to feed myself as my family does NOT do Keto. The list of things in this video that you no longer consume are the affordable Keto items that I actually do enjoy. I understand wanting to buy higher quality items but in doing so you are alienating a lot of people who can not afford those items. Maybe try to keep a balance of affordable/high end Keto friendly foods.
They did a keto on a budget diet. Matt bought like 200 eggs and ate giant plates of eggs and steak for every meal. That won’t make you want to shoot yourself after a week. 😒
"The list of things in this video that you no longer consume are the affordable keto items that I actually do enjoy." Please, please, PLEASE point out where they said anyone else had to adopt their preferences!!!! You CAN'T! Because they actually said several times that these are THEIR choices and you have to make the choices that are right for YOU!! If budget is an issue, then of course your choices are dictated by that. Do keto in a way that YOU can maintain as a lifestyle and don't become "alienated" so damned easily. 🙄
Life’s too short and I refuse to completely give up things I love like coffee, veggies, nuts. All of which can be enjoyed while eating Keto or low carb. Not to mention where the heck are you getting nutrients your body needs in just eating meat? Up until this video I’ve enjoyed your channel. Just not sure l’ll continue watching or stay subscribed if this is the direction your headed.
Your absolutely right. Peanuts are legumes, they grow on the ground. The fact that they look like a nut and taste like a nut does not make them a nut. That is a misnomer.

Amen!!
Agree.
I lost 57 pounds in few months now by eating most of those foods they tell us to avoid.
@@dennonmcarthy2476 they go by what works for them and not what works for everyone. So, they really aren't using the scientific method all the time but are pretty close
How did you do it ? What did you eat ? I am lost 26 pounds for 2.3 months.. afraid it will stop , need a lot of advices
Hi Can you tell what exactly you eat on regular basis?
1) Soybean based Mayo
2) Chicken
3) Sugarfree candy
4) Pasteurized dairy
5) Coffee
6) Store bought salad dressings
7) IMO fibers
8) Berries
9) Nuts/nut butters
10) Certain veggies
They do mention several times tho, that these are just their own personal preferences. Not something to be treated as doctrine. And also, on most of those, they aren't avoiding them completely, just having them less.
Thank you
I'm glad I didn't see this video when I was first starting Keto 5 months ago.
I'm also 71, and find Keto quite doable. I love to explore new recipes so excited about all the new dishes on keto.
I feel like such a video will discourage people from starting Keto. So much to absorb, what was good is now bad, a newbie's head must be spinning.
Watching this while eating cauliflower hash browns, coffee with cream and a handful of blackberries 😜

Most people (but not all) who say they love the taste of coffee really mean "cream and sugar (with coffee) tastes so good. Sugar is just as addictive as caffeine.

With that attitude you will
The video is called foods “we” avoid, not foods YOU need to avoid!

They never said don't eat these foods. Do what works for you experiment with your foods...see what your body reacts to...
I do not understand the comments.
I am curious so that is why I clicked on the video.
Just because someone does something different doesn't mean you have to be rude.
Coz their recipes have most of those stuff

They never ever said they eat no vegetables.
I feel like this video is going to scare people away from keto.

It shows the progressive influence of money, not knowledge.
Work it how you need to, they adjusted based on how their bodies react to certain foods.
Take it back wherever you got it i just returned mine today.

After being on keto for a longer period of time you focus less on what is going to just make you lose weight and what is more healthy. Agree...that's why I love Dr Ken Berry's videos. He knows most of us can't afford the top of the line stuff. I know I never can.
Love you guys for sharing what works for you. Thank you. You both are AWESOME!
So what you're saying is:" buy our cookbook of all the food that we ourselves dont eat??" Isn't that odd, to say tne least?
actually mr dipshit. she has a point and by all means if you dont do what you preach that kinda makes you look weak not not confronting them about it. as for their cookbook. They help people and beginners to learn more about keto and recipes to make and if they taste good thats more a motivation to keep living a healthy lifestyle. And also they claimed on multiple videos and vlogs that they Did or do eat some of the products if not all of them mentioned in this vid. But yeah i understand, i mean calling a piece of shit a lord..and bashing on people who make a point.. tells me enough. bye dipshit
Vanita Oedayrajsingh Varma are you being defensive on the wrong thread here? The cauliflower lord isn’t here. Take a peek
my wife is diabetic and going keto One of the things she noticed early on in experimenting to find out how specific foods impacted her was that chicken, no matter how it was cooked, raised her glucose 30 points. Beef only raises it 10 points. Her primary proteins are now beef and fish.
That might change as she becomes more keto adapted.
That seems improbable really. No way should chicken or beef raise bs more than a few points.
BloozeDaddy I’m diabetic as well and I have had days when I’ve ate no carbs and my sugar would be high the next day. Something is raising it.
@@tanyathompson4322 hard to say what could be causing that ...could be that your pancreas is just way out of whack.
@@tanyathompson4322 All foods raise insulin a bit. According to dietdoctor.com, protein raises it about half as much as carbs do. Even pure fat can raise it a tiny bit. Even stress can raise your bg.
ok, I am done with eating food!
Yup, a genuine keto friendly diet.
Veggies, really??? Now I'm confused, Dr Berg recomends eating like 5 cups of veggies a day on keto.
They all have to have their own twist on keto in order to make money.
@@vegasrob28 You're such a hater 😂😂😂
So where are their carbs
I mean its not really necessary to have vegetables AT ALL. 5 cups of veggies is great if you want to poop regularly and often. I just make chia seed pudding and go once a day now. it's easy and tastes better than spinach :(
It seems you should cut alcohol over some of those other things.. like chicken
Yes!
Chicken is packed full of antibiotics and other chemicals. It will kill you slowly. The soy feed alone is detrimental.

After all this effort on food planning I'm losing the desire to live
Yeah, it's a bit much.

Most of it is just a scare so you don't get the benefits of raw dairy. It all comes down to the farmer and how hygienic their cow's are.
@@KE-yq2eg You couldn't be any more correct.
Lol great just bought it !!!
Never heard of that one. I will check it out. Thank you!
No veggies guys. Dr. Berg would be so disappointed. Lol
Gino Lopresti I try to eat as many veggies as I possibly can because of him!
I’m currently trying to dream up a meat pie and trying to put as much veggies into it!
Dr Ken Berry is happy lol 😂
Doctor Paul Saladino would be happy :)
Isn't that your own problem if you can't eat just one serving of something?
Hi

I agree
I'm a new diabetic and have learned sugar free stuff is still loaded with carbs most of the time.
Not all.. Not the ones with stevia etc.
Stay away from anything pre-packaged especially if it's dedicated to being a diabetic LOL I seen that they even came out with a diabetes-related skin care lotion on like really? WTF? SMH!
Check out dr. Ken Berry he's good when it comes to things like keto and diabetes and other medical conditions

I have to stop with the nuts. I have found that they are my weakness and I literally can’t stop eating them. So.... I’m not buying them anymore. 😩
Sometimes it’s not very good to deprive yourself completely, though. If something is deemed as “off limits” by your own accord, you’re likely to become consumed with the mere thought of eating them. It’s good to have some, that way you feel satisfied without restrictions.
Maybe you can occasionally pick up a few from the bulk bin for a snack to avoid bingeing?
Macadamia nuts, pecans and brazils are really good for you and great keto nuts. Macadamia especially. The only problem I'm thinking is that I'm really taking in too much omega 6 fats compared to omega 3s.
Love your videos, I have learned so much from such a sweet couple. However, I don't agree with the cutting back on coffee and replacing with decaf. To make it decaf, a nasty chemical is used to make it that way. Your better off drinking regular coffee in moderation.
Some coffee is decaffeinated with just hot water.
Just a clarification that may in fact be completely irrelevant to you and your audience . . .
A peanut is not a nut. A peanut is a legume (a bean)
An avocado is not a vegetable. An avocado is a fruit.

Do you have any qualifications in nutrition?
Jerome Bocquee Bruh, good thing you have an option to not watch them if you think they are unqualified. Questionably ,you’ve watched more than one video from these guys.👆😂
Rainbow Panda says a lot of just ‘thinking’ and assuming gets us well, I don’t know.... I know what my options are. And I choose to know what the truth is and where I am getting the information. You see the river of knowledge keeps flowing regardless where you stop to fish. Just because I pull a fish out doesn’t mean I eat. I like to know who’s upstream putting things in the river too.
Maybe stick to the food pyramid.. might be up your alley.
Agreed!
I'm a new watcher and I agree. This video has me like "what is going on?"
No passion huh? They ate constantly fine tuning their woe. That's how you master things. Not by whining about how you don't agree with things

Swiss water processing uses no chemicals.
How much does Swiss water processed coffee cost?
For me I love the coliflour pizza my husband and I have I feel great when I eat it. Why is it good to avoid veggies?? I havnt seen this from Dr Berg
Drawing the line at coffee! you guys! stop it! :) BTW, Peanuts are not nuts..
Ronald van der Putten I know, right? Blasphemy!
Yep! They're legumes.
Yep... peanuts are just nut-adjacent. They are legumes but act much like nuts in the body.... and legumes aren't good for keto either. I don't do it often... but if I'm having hunger pains then a spoonful of a good peanutbutter isn't horrible and it is all I need.
@@TheBioExplorer does that mean you can't have peanuts on Keto?
You can, just be aware that i's a fatty legume, not a nut.
I think I will stick with Dr. Berg. You guys change your mind too much. Sounds like you are now more of the carnivore diet than Keto.
There’s a word for them, it’s called evolving
9 months ago i found your channel and was inspired to start keto. I lost 60 + pounds and have changed my life for the better. Came back to this channel and feel a bit confused on your message although I am clear on my plan moving forward. Where are you headed and what is the purpose? Please be careful, there are many who are new and feel like the the boundaries are constantly moving....

so youre not eating anymore? your cook book goes against what youre saying
It's always so interesting to hear you guys talk about soy bean oil in everything, from a European standpoint. I have so much trouble getting so many of the keto friendly products you recommend over here (god, I wish almond flour was less expensive!), but at least I almost never ever see soy bean oil in anything. Yay!
Bozack Food ground almonds is almond flour, cheaper and more readily available. Someone in a group I'm in told me that....mind blown lol. :0)
Seems to be a very american problem tbh. I hardly ever see soy bean oil listed as an ingredient here in Australia.

I just bought a frozen duck at Walmart. I’m gonna eat the whole thing, fat and all!
I love duck! The fat/grease, tender meat, and lite gamey taste. So good for keto-ers. Even the breast meat is full of fat. Yum!!!
I use duck fat when I have it for cooking.
Then what do you eat?
Good one for the coffee, was watching drinking mine... :D Started Strict Keto in April and since, I limited my coffee intake to one a day (20 oz though).
Actually, caffeine has absolutely no effect on me, no effect that I can feel or need at all.
Me too
You know how they say that if you strongly believe in something you are only limited to see the edges of that bubble that continues to reinforce your beliefs?
So, in essence, you're arbitrarily making foods forbidden.
Great. Now we'll have more keto newbies scared of cheese, coffee, chicken, etc.
For those with adrenal fatigue and other issues, it would be beneficial to cut coffee, but some people don't want to address these issues. Cow dairy is known to cause inflammation and irritate the gut. Would also be wise to cut.
Sharing space so had to watch this close captioned. So grateful I was able to miss having to hear them say "like" so often.
Love my Costco rotisserie chicken !
I bought the Costco rotisserie chicken for a while but for some reason it's stopped tasting good to me. Not sure why. Maybe the dextrose in it or something? I couldn't eat it the last time I bought it. I've been just buying the canned ones if I want chicken salad.
Wow. I could never be this hard core.
Nuts had to go. I can mindlessly eat a small dump truck load without even thinking about what I am doing.
I have replaced them, as a snack, with pork rinds. Not as high in fat as I would prefer, but it is SOMETHING on keto that crunches when you eat it. lol
You guys are pretty much carnivore then 😂
@@denamarie2542 I'm almost at 60 days pure carnivore, and honestly it's fixed so many problems that I'm having trouble believing it.
That seems to be a natural progression from strict keto, though.
I've been heading more towards carnivore lately too
@Cissy Stanford I started with a 2-week test, that turned into 30 days, that turned into 60 days, that's currently looking like a long-haul carnivore.
No berries? Aren't they like the only fruit acceptable on keto? No nuts? So you guys have now made a very restrictive diet even more restrictive.
They're just talking about what they do personally. If you want to eat berries...do it.

Totally understand your concern on pasteurized dairy. At the same time, raw milk has killed people. So research is key if that’s the decision you want to make!
Isabel Tipton 🤔
Isabel Tipton they lost me on the pasteurized dairy..... ridiculous! I hope they never use hand sanitizer or anti microbial hand soap because that kills good and bad bacteria too. 🙄
Yep. During my pregnancy there has been 2 recalls on French soft cheeses in Australia! (The things you notice when you 'can't' have certain foods). Most Australian soft cheese is pasteurized so it's never going to win awards but at least no one is going to get Listeria!!!
Truth! I wouldn't do unpasteurized unless I really knew the producer locally or they are commercial and have inspections. Research is key.
People have also died from Listeria in ice cream and ecoli on spinach...

*Your explanations make so much sense, and I'll definitely be more mindful of these items in the future.*
Dude they're just sharing what they do personally, the entirety of the rest of this channel is about making keto approachable...

Laurie Balerna A little bit of craziness with this. It seems like it is getting to be a money making enterprise.
They are running out of ideas to make money.
But I literally just bought their cookbook! I'm a huge fan of these guys but now they're starting to contradict themselves. Should I toss the book now that I've spent $45??
you can still eat any of these foods. they are saying what works well for them. this stuff you learn over time. i have been keto for 5 years and i have learned a lot along the way and have cut some foods i used to eat often. they made it clear that you CAN STILL EAT THESE
Laurie Balerna She said it makes HER feel bad. If you can eat it without issue, go for it.
they don't know what they're talking about
To eat Keto costs more than just going and picking up junk.
Rebecca Ward same here
When did people stop understanding the difference between 'sale' and 'sell'? I see this everywhere. WTH.
They did a keto on a budget diet. Matt bought like 200 eggs and ate giant plates of eggs and steak for every meal. That won’t make you want to shoot yourself after a week. 😒
"The list of things in this video that you no longer consume are the affordable keto items that I actually do enjoy."
Please, please, PLEASE point out where they said anyone else had to adopt their preferences!!!!
They explained in another video that you don’t actually get any nutrients from plant food, only from fatty meat.
Peanut are not nuts ! Nuts grow on trees ! Peanut grow in the ground ! 😊
Your absolutely right. Peanuts are legumes, they grow on the ground. The fact that they look like a nut and taste like a nut does not make them a nut. That is a misnomer.
Thanks, I didn't know that.
I gave up diary and nuts. I have berries a few times a week, but nothing will get in the way of my coffee☕☕☕😁
