A great video, however, I tried 35s on my YJ for a short time. Immediately I could tell the larger diameter tire was causing issues when trying to Stop the Jeep rapidly. I decreased the size tire back to a 33 X 12.50 - 15 tire with the solid 10 inch wide tread stance and found a good medium. I did not have to upgrade the brakes on my stock axles.
My father is 76 years old and bought his first Jeep 91 YJ worked on it all summer long hand buffed it At least one every two weeks,it’s his pride and joy well last week we was out riding around and got T-Boned in it and pretty sure it’s totaled
INCREDIBLE VIDEO ,.,.,. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INFO ,.,. I ALSO HAVE A YJ WRANGLER AND WITH YOUR VIDEO I AM 100% SURE OF THE SIZE TIRES I WANN GET ,.,.., THANK YOU ,..,
I has a 73 CJ instead of cutting the body for wheel clearance I made 6" body lifts and it was a lot faster and looked great However nice Job I just bough a1995 YJ it only has a 4 cylinder i don't think I will add larger tires because of the loss of power it will cost on the undersize motor greet video
It's not letting me see all the comments, because TH-cam... Did you stick with stock gearing? I'm possibly about to purchase a YJ and I'm trying to gauge cost of larger tires plus gears.
destroyed the fenders and hood, made it looks hacked, just to fit 35s without buying a lift? I bet the 3.07s complement the 35s great. tube fender kits are pretty cheap and wont slice your wrist when you walk within 6 feet of them. Haters gotta hate. That thing was mint
As for first it’s got 3.73s, Second, tube fenders heavy as hell. I don’t want my Jeep be like a tank. And third, after lifting it will drive like a crap. No it’s smooth and stable on stock suspension.
Nice job! I have to admit watching you cut up that YJ hurt some, but in the end you made a great little crawler! Did you have to do anything mechanical to it as well?
That turned out to be a nice jacked up low rider..would have been easier to just put a spring lift under it..you chopped up the whole jeep to fit around those used tires .
I get most of it and great find on the jeep it's pretty mint. But why the pipe wrench to remove the spare tire? Seriously it is a standard sized socket at least?
I love YJs and TJs and usually, I love watching Jeep restorations/rebuilds, but I honestly had a hard time watching this video. I cannot believe you hacked up that Jeep like that; why didn't you just do a body lift or shock lift instead of destroying the body? To each their own I guess......... any value that had as a YJ is completely gone now.
Yes that was a HUGE value on it before. I did it for myself not to sell, and I like it a lot now. You can have yours bone stock and sell it for 5k in 20 years. I would rather use mine every day and enjoy it.
wow - this is such horror torture for the restoration jeep crowd. really wish you hadn't sliced it all to pieces. That's gotta be the cleanest YJ interior I've ever seen (resto's not included, obviously) - you were so close to being able to easily do a factory restore and it would have been worth 3x what it is the you did it - and the really sad thing is it's no loner a candidate to do that. *facepalm*
@@procars7470 bet that's not including the 35s and rims. Bet. You added more then you took off. Little sheet metal is nothing compared to weight of bigger meats.
Bet? Accepted. 1. It’s not just sheet metal. I took off heavy doors, soft top with frames, bumpers, track bars and stabilizer bars, stock steel rims heavier then alloy ones, no spare tire and some other stuff I forgot 2. I know exactly how much lighter it is because I’ve been at the scales before and after. 3430 before 2980 after How about that? 3. But the main thing how it feels, and it feels much faster. I think you loose your bet...
1. I got stock geometry of suspension travel 2. I got lowest center gravity as possible 3. I got comfortable ride not that crap harsh ride after lift kit. 4. I don’t have to modify driveshaft yoke 5. I like to do stuff the other way 6. I’m not cutting 60000 dollars new Jeep, just 2k toy. My bicycle cost more then that.
I mean... I wouldn't have done that. It's a lot of work, a major chop job. I respect all the work, but... just... no. Better idea, get a cheap lift kit.
Looking at your purchase on that JEEP for $2000.00 ..................... I would have to say that you paid $1900.00 too much. Just saying!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But you did do a good job on restoration .
What about a cheap and simple shackle and/or body lift? You wouldn't have ruined the hood and side profile. Now the sheet metal doesn't even match. Sorry man. But that was the WRONG thing to do. You butchered it.
great build. nice to see a backyard build not sponsored and a huge budget.
I am going to start my YJ soon. will be doing the hi line part of this as I want to keep body as low as possible.
A 2-4” lift helps too.
Old video I know .. but these yjs are getting hard to find . When you find a clean one with no frame rot its gold
I have 1.
Garage kept. 89. Bought a 87 for parts ! Pure Rust Bucket "Chuck's." Quote Lol
2 totally different outcomes !!
@@edruth1038 how much you want???
At some point, I think 1994, YJ’s had galvanized bodies and frames. I have a 1994 that is completely rust free.
And the worth of my yj keeps climbing....Use to be a lot of fox body mustangs too..They keep going up in price.
A great video, however, I tried 35s on my YJ for a short time. Immediately I could tell the larger diameter tire was causing issues when trying to Stop the Jeep rapidly. That was fun to watch… we had one back in the day… wish we still did…
Nice great turn around video!
Plan on doing same thing instead of lifting......I'm gonna go one step further and make tube fenders . Great video for inspiration !!!!
Big like
Very beautiful work
Wow awesome job...very nice rig 👍
Thanks man
you did a great job on this one.. just got a 91 yj myself and was planning on doing some of the things you did
I have a 91 and 95. Swapping motor from 95 into the 91.
My father is 76 years old and bought his first Jeep 91 YJ worked on it all summer long hand buffed it At least one every two weeks,it’s his pride and joy well last week we was out riding around and got T-Boned in it and pretty sure it’s totaled
Awesome job saving it from the junkyard.
Love ur jeep men good job thank u for this video
I like the way you did the front fenders and hood. Thanks for the video!
Thanks man.
INCREDIBLE VIDEO ,.,.,. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INFO ,.,. I ALSO HAVE A YJ WRANGLER AND WITH YOUR VIDEO I AM 100% SURE OF THE SIZE TIRES I WANN GET ,.,.., THANK YOU ,..,
Thanks
Put the grinder down and step away from the vehicle
@Stink Bug absolutely , and would have saved him from destroying it ....
Cool you have a NICE uncut Jeep which costs 5k. That’s really impressive.
Интересное видео получилось, по сути без лифта 👍🏻
Спасибо!
I have a blue one 89. Just like that !
I can put 35's on it ?
Wow again !
Thanks for the great video again! I have done mine in Sweden and yours was a great inspiration.
Wow you must of got that Jeep for Free the way you cut that thing up. A lift would have solved all your problems.
It's not letting me see all the comments, because TH-cam...
Did you stick with stock gearing? I'm possibly about to purchase a YJ and I'm trying to gauge cost of larger tires plus gears.
How thick is the jeep metal in the back? I need to install a plate over my fp across panel someone else did
Was your carpet glued to the floor? I got a 95 YJ the other day and I was thinking of removing said carpet but I noticed it was glued down.
No way would I cut my sheet metal up like that 😳
Bought mine like that lifted carpet an it was already done .. but I got to take tank out an clean it an make it 20 gallon
Yes you right. It is a collectible vehicle, I should drive it full stock.
destroyed the fenders and hood, made it looks hacked, just to fit 35s without buying a lift? I bet the 3.07s complement the 35s great.

I agree looks bad tbh
Nice job! I have to admit watching you cut up that YJ hurt some, but in the end you made a great little crawler! Did you have to do anything mechanical to it as well?
Nothing but tune up. All fluids, valve cover gasket, brakes tune up.
Water pump I guess.
That thing for daily driving or what because that front end is now a wind sail
Driving daily. Drives better then stock.
17:20 sounds like he’s hitting it with a hammer, other then the song tho great restoration! im planning to do mine similar
Any chance you still got them stock wheels?
I’m in GA, & I’m looking for a set of 5.
Very nice!
thank you!
It looks good
What’s the name of the song before the last one?
At first look on the pic it appears you just took off the top and doors and put some different tires and rims on it
Either way its looks good with the doors off
How many bolts did you end up snapping off?????
zero
ok....NOW it's worth $2000
That turned out to be a nice jacked up low rider..would have been easier to just put a spring lift under it..you chopped up the whole jeep to fit around those used tires .
I really liked the video but I wish you would have talked instead of playing music. Nice jeep though...
Under ... hand deal...
Old is gold...
چاندی چوم کے بیٹے کی ماں بولی جیپ کتنی مانگھی اے
Real Cool Makeover! But is the vehicle road worthy!
It’s actually better then stock. Handle better and more power due to it’s lighter.
Was a clean YJ :(
The front looks similar to the original Willy's jeep now.
Bro you got hella haters that’s what sup! nice rig bro👍😂✊
What about a spare tire?
I thought I was going to watch a yj get built, not destroyed. Poor yj.
Yeah I hate to see Jeeps with little rust get butchered.
I get most of it and great find on the jeep it's pretty mint. But why the pipe wrench to remove the spare tire? Seriously it is a standard sized socket at least?
There was locking lug nuts and I don’t have a key.
@@procars7470 of course way to improvise!
Awesome
How much did all the repairs cost?
huh?
No way those tire don't rub??? I does not look as though you have much clearance?
I did notice the fuel lines looked new? I think? or just clean?
Check my other video. When I’m driving it off-road. Not a single rub.
Are the fender flares off of a tj or a tj rubicon(basiclly how wode are they)? And like it man. I want one but e02 swapped
Flares from TJ rubicon
probably the biggest hack job on a YJ I have ever seen
Thank you
Wicked
Umm. That’s not the rear bumper dude. This Jeep doesn’t have one on it. That’s the frame. Lol. Wow. 🙄
The Hoops that he took off the back of the Jeep are legal bumpers. They are called bumperette. They were required on the YJ's federal law.😁
Well I guess he did call the frame a bumper later on in the video sorry about that.
Are those stock axles? Diana 35?
Bone stock
Oh snap
Exactly, oh snap and there goes the tire and wheel. Be carful dood!

Yeah, i mean this is still reversable i guess...
Personally I would have just put aftermarket fenders but to each their own. Some guys take pride in knowing they fabbed everything themselves.
wow - this is such horror torture for the restoration jeep crowd. really wish you hadn't sliced it all to pieces. Great!!! Now you have an under powered over "tired" jeep.
Actually it’s even faster then stock because it’s lighter
@@procars7470 bet that's not including the 35s and rims. Bet. You added more then you took off. Little sheet metal is nothing compared to weight of bigger meats.

So no track bar at all?
Correct
Drives like a dream
Way better then my TJ with track bars.
Did you keep the danas 35s?
Yes, they works fine on such a lite Jeep
gonna snap dem axles soon as you do any serious stuff
2 years on this setup. Keeping up with guys on 40s and still in one piece.
Yj Jeeps are the best. Hands down in my opinion. Simple Jeep! 92 here. All jeeps are cool though.
Man this hurt to watch.. absolutely butchered that YJ. And after he chopped it up for clearance, he put the flares back on smh
A lift kit would have been waaaaayyyy easier
Kash mera sohrah kabaria hota jo men shair kabhi hota.....
❤❤❤
All that cutting and altering when you could've just paid for a lift kit.... ruined it
1. I got stock geometry of suspension travel
2. I got lowest center gravity as possible
3. I got comfortable ride not that crap harsh ride after lift kit.
4. I don’t have to modify driveshaft yoke
5. I like to do stuff the other way

Wow destroyed a YJ
This better be an off-road only Jeep… cause you took away stability for flex lol
4.5 lift would have cleared stock trim
I don’t wanna go that way. I want to go different then everybody.
From 👍
Mine in Sweden, I also swapped in a 1943 Willys grille - i.imgur.com/2kpaqZ6.jpg
Good job! Like your grill.
I mean... I wouldn't have done that. It's a lot of work, a major chop job. I respect all the work, but... just... no. Better idea, get a cheap lift kit.
The fukn bump stops hahah
Ummm...not a fan of the cut and tweek on the ole yj...to each there own
that front end looks absolutely digusting 🤢🤢🤢 you would have been better off buying aftermarket crawler fenders
You could have atleast done spring over
that is not the point, and a SOA done right will take a lot of funds (SYE9, new driveshafts, longer brake lines, steering, etc).
How to destroy a jeep in 20 minutes. How in da hell do you think this looks good? Or even functional.
Nice job cool ,awful music

Destroyed a great jeep. Could have been great.
2 minutes in and you're still playing that horrible music. SMH
17 minutes later...
Wtf?
You are a licensed DEALER?
Lol looks worst
