I installed this in my 87 yj. Works great, only problem is there’s so much exposed metal in the cab that it took forever to draw that heat out of everything and cool the interior down. I put a hotheads roof liner in on my hardtop and that helped some. Eventually I had to put sound deadening/insulation in and a bedrug carpet kit. Still not super cold inside but only on days close to 100 degrees
Yeah it was the first time I ever done ac work so it was a little intimidating. I rented the tools from autzone so that was free. I bought a can tap and two cans of Freon for around $30
Hi I recently did this on my 89 2.5 tbi, not long after installing it would start to bog down the jeep when i turned on the air. the rpms would drop extremely low at idle around 200-400. I know now that it is because its a big power draw and theres no wiring done to tell the ecm to increase rpms when ac is on. Did you have any problems like this with your jeep? if so have you done anything that fixed it? also now i have the opposite problem where my jeep idles wayyy too high when it warms up at around 1500-2500, i think it might be a vac leak but ive been putting off fixing it since when I turn on the ac it brings down the rpms anyway😅
No problems like that, if I’m just idling and the compressor kicks on, it will bump the rpm’s down slightly but it jumps right back up. Could be an issue with the idle air control valve.

That my plan also! I want to add carpet and some insulation to help! Good to hear that it does help with the cooling
Thanks for posting this! I have this exact kit and I have been dreading/procrastinating installing it. This video should be a big help! 😎
Right on! Good luck!
Good instruction. Thanks for not blasting me with heavy metal.
Thanks for the video.
I will use it to help, when I install one on my cj7.
Wish they made one with an electric compressor especially for those of us that do not have room for a belt driven AC compressor.
That would be cool!
the charging part is whats got me, and how much is all this stuff to charge it

I really want to install this in my 2.5
They make a kit for it! I wish I had done this first, when I got my Jeep. It makes it so much more comfortable to ride in
If it a works well for you I'd like to get one for my 03 TJ.
Is there room under a TJ dash to install this ?
