    Not sure why but I find out of the ordinary builds in your videos more interesting
    Re crafting ariats and doc martens when no one else does is kind of a neat unique challenge to watch as opposed to the typical JR sole on another pair of allen Edmunds. Keeps things interesting, not to mention makes me want to send some of my old work boots in for the same treatment
    Great video

      Most these youtube cobblers do mail order. But shipping and his cost might be high especially with a big box boot. And someone concern about taxes.

    He should have just bought a new pair, they are comfortable out the box so it’s not like he would have to break them in and the leather wouldn’t be damaged

    It's funny, those are built better now than when they were new. It is the second pair of that brand that is now better than new, by my count. Trenton and Heath did a pair a while ago as well.
    I learned a long time ago that when it came to footwear, most of your "affordable" boots are garbage and disposable. You want a good pair of boots that last, they have to be made to be rebuilt. I am extremely picky about my footwear, and won't buy anything but American made boots unless I need something I can chuck in the junk when done with them.

    People in my county wear slip on Georgia boots. (Romeo) I have thought of this method to glue a vibram sole to give a second life to these guys soft soles. Don't know if it's worth it but thought it would be fun to try.

    Is the 1276 Sierra sole a good sole for colder weather with snow and ice? I was going to buy a pair of Danner x Filson Grouse boots that have the 1276. I started reading the reviews on Danner and most of them complain that the 1276 sole is horrible in the colder weather. People complained that the sole gets really stiff, extremely slippery and bad in the snow or on ice. A few reviewers said anything below freezing and it’s like wearing ice skates.

    If I wanted to resole one of my Goodyear welted work boots the “Irish Setter Wingshooters” can I just remove the sole and leave the original mid sloe ? And then just glue a new sole onto the original mid sole.

    • @nathanhill6042
      @nathanhill6042 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do it but it will most likely be harder than u think I would have a pro do it you wouldn’t want to screw up a good pair of boots

    • @JJ-lu6mg
      @JJ-lu6mg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nathanhill6042 the worst thing that could happen is if you cut into the midsole. Then you would need a cobbler to put a new midsole on because they need to be stitched.

      @@CobblersPlus The work boots are full grain leather and in pretty good shape since I wear than approx 10 hours per day, 3 days a week. So, saying that, would leather conditioner or mink oil be better?

    An Ariat boot re-craft? While very interesting to watch...it is best to just chunk a pair of Ariats in the trash, and buy a new pair. Ariats are disposable style boots. Wear them until they wear out, (which usually is a short amount of time), chunk them, and buy a new pair. The guy that owns these Ariats...would be much better off just buying a quality boot, that will give him much better support, and much better longevity. I get it though. The generation of today, has been sold the "disposable theory" for the sake of $$$$$. Companies make a fortune out of selling these poor quality material boots/shoes. Much better off buying something made of quality. My nephew loves square toed Ariats. Why? Because they are the style they have been convinced of by the cheap boot manufacturers, as "cool", so they can get rich. Dont buy into that philosophy, I say. It cracks me up, when they buy these cheap products, and then complain about how short the life span is. Lol. My nephew was so disappointed in his latest Ariats, literally expressing shock at how short lived they were. I explained it to him, and he has now taken my advice, and bought a pair of Nick's. I am sure in time...he will thank me. Regardless...this is an interesting video, in seeing the inner workings of a cheap Ariar boot. Thanks for posting.
