    Really smart having the Sierra sole installed on top of a sanded Christy sole. You get to have a soft cushion while having a hard wearing aggressive tread.

    I like the idea of this job. I also like the more aggressive tread pattern on the new sole. Better traction in wet, muddy, icy conditions. Also could perform double-duty as a hiking boot, as you said.
    Edit: Boots came out very nice.

    This is exactly what I want in a boot, I love the look of the christy sole but I want something that will hold up, for longer, and have better traction. I especially like it in the black color way.

    Watch out wearing the Sierra outsole in slick, winter conditions. They are awful for that since the rubber is so hard. The Kletterlift outsole is much better in my opinion but does wear out faster.

    If I have a brand new Vibram Christy sole 40 and I wanted to add a Vibram 1276 to it, would the 4014 wedge sole need to be sanded to alter the shape to accommodate the added sole or just sanded flat and glued on? Informative video, thanks!

    My coworker has a similar Thorogood, but it doesn't grip on the roof like my redwing's. Is the wedge more dense on the Thorogoods? Also, what's the best option for him to get the best grip, and would you advise him to do this style of resoling , and just have it replaced every few months, rather than trying to burn threw 2 Vibram wedges, and then probably just get a new boot after that?, as I'd imagine by the time the welt needs replaced, he's probably in the price range of a new boot anyway. I love your work BTW. It's really made me have an itch to try my hand at some of this. I'm determined to get my local cobbler to at least let me work of some of my own shoes, and still pay him as if he had done it himself I figure teaching me is just as much work as doing it if not more😅.

    So I have a pair of Thorogood boots with their dual density soul. I saw what you did with this and it was very interesting to me that its not resoled as normal. Can you show how you tell after the removal of the sole. how you tell how flat it is before you put the replacement sole on

    • @CobblersPlus
      @CobblersPlus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We tend to measure the soles thickness all the way around with a ruler to make sure it doesn’t lean one way or another but the wedge of the heel is actually done by feel because that wedge angle can be different from style to style.
