Once I wear through the Christie soles, that’s what I done on my 875’s. Much better suited for Michigan weather with the more aggressive soles! Beautiful work!
Really appreciate the workmanship that goes into this project after watching the video. Thanks for taking the time to go over options in the store yesterday. Looking forward to seeing how the pair I just dropped off turn out.
Just got a pair of vintage 1980s Red Wings 710 boots at the thrift store for $1. Brown leather moc toe with near mint Vibram lug sole tread. No structural damage or loose binding but the leather parched and needing some love to resurrect them. The toes almost pointed upwards as they were used wet and put away without proper care that parched the leather. Applying about 7 installments Apple brand leather care leather conditioner have accentuated the creosote stains on the inner sides and heels adds some real soul and flavor to these boots. A REAL improvement.
Yes, Renia can glue PVC too! On the front it says: Klebt "ALLES" auch auf PVC - means: Glues "EVERYTHING", also on PVC. You did a fantastic job! Cheers!
Do you eye-balling sanding 2 layers of midsole on both boots evenly? or do you taking measurement? I imagine it's pretty hard to adjust the heel midsole and the midsole overall, sanding on both of them evenly.
@@dimarshoerepair What would this cost to have done to a pair of Thorogood heritage moc toe, if that is possible? I love the thicker sturdier look of this rather than the factory max wear wedge soles. which look a little and feel a little thin to me, especially on a 15 EE boot. Thanks
I have the same combi, very well done by Wijsman Cobblers in the Netherlands. Just be aware, your Red Wings become stiffer, the soles don’t bend as much as with the Cristy soles, heel is gonna slip more if you wear your moc toes a bit loose.
Wow amazing job Pablo! Sometime soon I need to send my 875s in for this same resole. Quick question for you... I am having trouble finding the Saphir Oiled Leather Cream here in the US. Can I just use the Saphir Greasy Leather Cream or Venetian Shoe Cream as conditioners?
I have Red Wing Copper Rough Iron Ranger boots that somehow get darker. I typically use saddle soap to clean and Bicks 4 or 5 to condition. Sometimes I use the Redwing cream which never darkened in the past. Not sure what I did, but they are so much darker now. . How can I clean or strip them down to the original color?
Give them a very good wash with saddle soap. Let them dry overnight. Then condition with Bick 4. Let dry and buff. Other than that I wouldn't risk stripping them too much
@@dimarshoerepair thank you. I have seen the Oro Leather with a dark wedge and it really struck me. The leather really pops and makes it look a hell of a lot more classy in my book.
So based on your preference, its worth having a new welt each time. But isnt part of the point of a welt to minimize the potential damage to the leather uppers when new soles are needed? Thats how Ive understood it anyway. Would it not be ideal to leave the welt for the first, possibly second, sole repair etc, and then swap the welt to start the process again? Just asking. Like to learn about the craft, so now im curious about this. Thanks
There's no damage done to the uppers when a new welt is installed unless it's a factory doing the rewelting on a Goodyear welt machine. That machine will puncture new holes in the upper and can make a real mess. Cobblers hand sew new welts into the originals holes
Once again, very nice work! I thought Red Wing used cork as their filler. Is it possible the previous cobbler who put that other outsole on was the one who also put the foam in there? Thanks!
If the tag inside the boot says 875 then the lug outsole is not original. Red Wing 875 doesn't come with a lug outsole. A similar boot the Red Wing 8147 did come with a lug outsole when they were offered. I love that double sole!
Those Tan-ish soles are exactly what I'm looking for to put on my 1907's. I'm not a fan of the sole that came original on these. How much if you don't mind telling me, would it be for just a new sole in that same style tan boot sole? I would love a tan sole on my 1907's.
Good job! May I ask, what’s the in between softer sole? I want to ask my local cobbler to do the same, but not with the standard christy sole as it is too thick and too white.

You're very welcome, thanks for the visit!
Excellent transformation Pablo! You do it right every time, thats what I love about your crafting style!
Thank you! Cheers!
It’s always refreshing to see the amount of work and care you put into restoring these boots. Keep up the great work Pablo! 👏
Thanks Mikey!
I would like to have a address that I can send my shoes for repairs
Because the warranty is no good on redwing shoes I have 3 pair that needs repairs
Gunna be monstahs after this rebuild. Nice work continues. I don’t know anything about shoe re-building, but I know good work when I see it. I see it.
Thank you!

Nothing like a beautiful patina on a pair of Red Wing boots!
They are a seriously good looking pair of Red WIngs now. A beautiful colour through wearing them time & again.
Leather only gets better with age and wear!
what i like about this video is i learned something
Thanks for watching!
Wonderiful transformation on those Red Wings. Thank you very much for posting this.
Thanks for watching!
New to your channel. It's so nice to see a kid who knows how to do real meaningful work! Good on you.
Thanks for following along! More videos coming
Those boots turned out incredible. great work!
Thanks!!
Incredible craftsmanship boots look awesome!!!
Appreciate it!
Outstanding job ... subscribed! Cheers from Minnesota, and just down the road from Red Wing!
I appreciate that!
This looks great! I will steal this idea if I can.
Please do!
Hey colleagues excellent job and I loved the products to building up your performance 👍👌
Thanks a ton
Nice job, cool trade.
Thanks!

Thank you for the translation! PVC is more commonly used nowadays in shoe making
this looks really great. I got the Vibram crepe sole when I got mine resoled but wish I would've opted with this bottoms instead
We can swap it out next time for you
Outstanding remake!!
Thank you!
those are some good looking boots
Thank you!
Nice boots good craftsmanship
Really appreciate that
I just might have to get redwing Irish setters done just like this. I really like the potential of extra grip. I love how they came out
Our customer said these have been unbelievably comfortable plus provides excellent traction
Very good job 👍🏾 Much better than when they came in 🏆🏆🏆
Thank you for the kind words!
Those Vibram Sierra soles.
The whole job... amazing.
Hope we can get those Vibram soles in México.
Thank you!
Love your work! What a beautiful job. I think the sheets of cork seem much better cushioning than the wet cork.
I share the same opinion!

Measurements
Nice video, what kind of watch are you wearing?
Fossil
Just want to ask jow much is that kind of resole? I got 2 pairs of redwing moctoe that badly needs a resole like that...
This was the entire works... New hand-sewn welts, leather midsoles, custom EVA wedge and Vibram outsole. It runs $345 CAD
Very nice work! What would a job like that cost?
I believe this was about $350 CAD
Do you taper the welts for a clean overlay where it overlaps on itself?
Yes of course. Two 45s
Post data additional comments to be done pretty works is to have on good maintenance equipment and you got that pretty awesome 👏
Great point!
Keep making videos Thank you👍
I'll keep them coming!
Those soles are bad ass
Agreed!
How much do you charge?? I want to do this to my red wing Irish setter boots the heels are worn out! How do I send you them???
Hey Johny. Shoot us an email dimarshoerepair@gmail.com and we'll get your projects started!
Lovely job, I'd love this done to mine
Would love to rebuild your boots!
How can one tell what type of leather a boot is made from, like oiled as you mentioned?
Typically it will have an oily touch to it and the colour can lighten or darken simply by rubbing your finger across it
You mentioned something about vibram soles and urethane glue. can you dive deeper into that?
Some Vibram compounds bond with Urethane and some compounds bond with neoprene glues
Great job!
Thanks!

Awesome rebuild! What kind of brush did you use for the cleaning lotion? Thank you from Virginia.
It's called a spatula brush from Saphir
What type of the material did you use to custom the midsole?
EVA

Would it be feasible, when the time comes, to replace only the outsole on the custom wedge. If so, what would the cost be for replacing that only.
Yes it would be possible. It would be about $115

excelente job, I'm thinking about doing this to my 875s, about how much did this cost and how i send you the boots
I believe this was about $300 CAD with new welts, custom built wedge and Vibram Sierra sole
The character of that leather? DAMN! JUST GORGEOUS.
Great job! Subbed
Thanks for the sub!
Lovely job. I never how many times you needed to hammer.
Thanks for watching!
Once again, very nice work! I thought Red Wing used cork as their filler. Is it possible the previous cobbler who put that other outsole on was the one who also put the foam in there? Thanks!
It was factory foam and I've seen foam in a few Red Wings but mostly cork
@@dimarshoerepair Is there any way to tell when buying the boots new if they're cork or foam?
That's a great question! I guess you would have to contact the company directly if it's not listed in the description section

One more question. Can you do a resole in that same sole you used in this video but without the foam pad you put on right before the boot tread?
I believe this job was $260 but they also got new welts for $90. You need the wedge for proper balance
What is the best glue to use for vibrant christy sole replacement?
Depends on the rubber compound

I believe this was $300 CAD
What is the cost for this specific resole?
This was $250
