    Beautiful creek. Please go back there and bring some jet dry or another option, to use when panning the fine gold, as is often found in moss. Thank you for bringing us along. : )

    I have one of the new Gold Bug's (pro), and it's a fine detector. The ground grab feature in all metal mode works well, and I've found the ground mineralization feature to be effective at showing where things are concentrating. It's about 2.7 pounds with a rechargeable battery and a set of earbuds. Only drawback is that the control box is not waterproof. I've managed to dry mine out twice and it still works... ...but I think something waterproof should be considered. I prospect in Northwest Washington State, so my weather is pretty similar to yours.
    It will consistently pick up bird shot pellets if I have the gain turned up and I'm paying attention... ...hope that helps.

    Hello, very nice video. I try to watch all of your vids, I am just east of you, over in Washington. Our terrain is very similar. We go to the Cascade Range to prospect. I have the Garret AT Gold, for a number of reasons. It's super light weight, it has auto ground balancing, which saves a lot of time in the field. It gives you a number value, based on the conductivity of the mineral it is sensing. Its waterproof, I play in the rain, and occasionally slip in the creeks. You'll want the pinpointer as well, it really isolates the area where your looking for the precise spot the detector indicated. It works for me, just two weekends ago we brought back 220 pounds of highly mineralized quartz we found in a vein along side an old logging road, I worked three hours chipping the rock with hammer and chisels to get it out. 5 each, 5 gallon buckets of it, the pin pointer let me know on the spot whether each piece was mineral worth bringing home. On the Garret AT Gold, it gave a reading of 84 to 96, 99 being the highest. We have a K & M 14 inch crusher, in a couple more weeks, we will have crushed all of it to figure out what is in it. Mount Baker Mining is just north of us, I was thinking of having them do a fire assay. Keep up the good work, your videos really inspire a lot of us hobby miners !
    P.S; I do have a shaker table, and a kiln from 911 Metalurgy coming to me soon ! So I can do my own smelting of what we find.

    Hi 911MP, Thanks for a interesting video. I have been doing some test panning in my local area on the north coast NSW. We have found a few specks here and there, I need to go back to a couple of spots and have a camp so as to have the time for a full search. Now its raining so the creeks will be in flood, great stuff for moving the yellow to the fellow. Dennis

    Good vid guys beatiful spot. Gold bug 2 is very good detector however Vancouver Island is pretty wet gold bug doesn't like the rain you might wanna consider something that can take the weather. Minelab gold monster 1000 has water proof coil rain & splash proof control box very easy to use handles mineralization really well or equinox 800 fully waterproof machine get the small coil for it stock coil just to big for prospecting & you don't have to worry when you fall in Creek machine will still work not so with gold bug. Their are lots of other waterproof machines I just like Minelab I use both these detectors no problems so far they work great for me. Sorry for long winded comment hope it helps

The technologies used in their detectors is second to none and well worth your considerations/research. Great vid once again - keep them coming :)

    Here’s a little trick I learned from miner Take that Moss after you wash it out in your pan dry it out burn it and pan it again

    • @MerAngel12121
      @MerAngel12121 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Russell, I come from a family of miners and hadn't heard that one. Sounds good. Isn't it true that any gold trapped in the moss is basically always very fine, light flecks that float away easily? I was wondering why he didn't use some jet dry or something to break the tension of the water while panning out the moss excretions. The discarded moss probably has all kinds of gold flecks still in it.

    • @russellsmith3855
      @russellsmith3855 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MerAngel12121 it’s fine they where going fast quick pans. I seek out moss and after pan throw what left in a bag to take home and dry. I have found a third more gold but yes very small.

    It's funny you'd think those holes in the bedrock would be filled with gold but I've checked a couple in my local river and not found a speck either.. a decent amount of black sand and grey zircon sand but no gold at all..

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theres still about 3km of the creek we haven't explored, all canyon and similar as far as we can tell, so well see what we can find we only did 6 pans we were restricted on time, we actually found the creek by accident so well see when we return what we find.

      yeah well I was just talking about the little plunge hole where a rock spins and cuts that perfect cylinder in the rock. I've seen other people on here dig them out and not find any gold in them too so while they seem ideal I guess they aren't.

    Why do you look for mineralization, what does that mean as far as looking for gold silver etc

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most gold and silver is found with sulphide mineralization or associated with some kind of mineralization, especially where we are located in BC.
      When your hardrock mining you don't look for gold specifically you look for signs which lead you to a deposit. With Volcanic and hydrothermal deposits you rarely just find gold stand alone. The value is in the entire deposit too not just gold and there are tons of sign which can help you once you learn it drastically helps when prospecting. We have a quick video up on this which explains a bit from a year or 2 ago.

    Waterproof both body and coils. You get 2 coils
    Blue tooth headset
    And not expensive .
    Operates at 61,000khz so goes deeper. Works better than most in highly mineralized ground.
    Works great . Best part it’s not expencive!
    $700-$800 in Canada.
    Solid unit and very light as well with some carbon fibre. .
    I love it.

    I've heard gold bug 2 is best because it operates at 73 kHz and you can use that 6 inch coil to get into small spaces. BUT for wet conditions garrett has some great selections.

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far it's a toss up between garrett AT Gold and fisher gold bug 2. We fall in the water a lot 😉 and have multiple months of rain in BC so the Garrett may be better. Still deciding.

      We sent a sample in there's gold @ 0.02ppm, copper @ 222ppm, iron and a little sulfur. None of those are workable amounts. It does indicate there could be more significant mineralization in the area though.

    nice place. im no expert but from what ive seen other people do, you should have been checking below the water falls and in the gravel at the bottom of the creek right down to the bedrock crevices and under the boulders. im sure you would find gold there if you sluiced it all. i will subscribe and hope you make a video doing just that.

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      therealzipp0r You can't sluice in creeks and rivers in BC, the creek was found by mistake on the way to locate an old showing at the top of the mountain. So on the way down we stopped for a short time.
      Normally we would do way more detailed sampling but we only ended up doing 6 pans, hiking boots also don't do well in the water and it's close to a 2 hour hike out so we were trying to refrain from getting as wet as possible. Next visit will be different.

      The mountain to the left has granodiorite as a host rock and the other side of the mountain has several high grade deposits which were abandoned due to metal prices and lost now they would be very profitable. Most likely it's made it's way from the top the mountian has about a 70 degree incline on average. This areas is very new to us and we actually stumbled on the creek accidentally.

    Depends on what you are using the detector for. I used these two sites to help decide. Not going for other stuff and need a detector that gets small gold and Fisher gold bug 2 is the best for that. It will pick up 1/10th of a grain and that is hard to beat. It is like a gold vacuum lol. If you have an area high in mineralization use a PI detector.

    The gold detectors have a learning curve. I suggest that you learn as much as you can about them before you purchase one. There are lots of good ones but no one does it all. Garret and whites and fisher all are tried and true. The Garrett that is army green will find bigger nuggets deeper but will over look smaller deposits. It can be quite frustrating. 1 in a hundred targets will be gold. Wonce you learn tho your finds increase. It would be advantageous to learn from a pro.

    I got a Gold Bug Pro Got from Ebay from Private Party for $ 250.00 : Brand new machine .I wish I would have got Garrett Submersible /Waterproof > " water proof " both run around 650..00> ; I am just going to have to save up . I hear have two with ya .. Pulse and VLM for the different soil conditions .. Some Detector just don't work well some minerals / ionized Ground.. If VLM gets confused the Pulse won't BE and visa verse .. .. MInlab cost 2500 and they can be sent to tech for Tune Ups .. Aussies Use Minlab ..Garrett or gold Bug Pro is OK and Half thee Price and they won't need a tune up .> " Peace "
