    Sulfide can contain a lot of gold and silver I remember some being tested that had 3 to 5 oz per ton, the key is refining it properly lots of people say they can but few do it properly.

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Im no expert in refining by any means but Im pretty sure you can remove gold from manganese oxides by cyanidation followed by Hydrochloric acid and a specific kind of leaching can be done with a pretty good recovery rate (97-99%). We have found ore containing both which was definitely refinable. Maybe there's other factors?

    Hi there,
    nice video as usual :) I was asking myself why you were so excited about all the sulfides? I thought this is the same as fools gold ???

    • @911mining
      @911mining  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sulfides aren't just nothing, most mineral deposits in BC are associated with some kind of sulfides. Gold isnt always found as a free element but can be in sulfides. For instance say you have multiple elements that replace certian elements in pyrite like like several gold elements replacing some iron elements you then have a viable prospect. Bottom line is sulfides are a good indicator for other elements.

    • @911mining
      @911mining  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Metal detector won't pick up the size of gold, this isn't an area with sedimentary rocks so there won't be any placer nuggets. There are also tons of hot rocks which makes it impossible.

    any value to sulphides ? how can you make money from it?

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most mineral deposits in our area are found as hydrothermal or VMS deposits (volcanic massive sulphide). When sulphides become valuable is when there found with replacement minerals such as gold associated with them. It also matters what sulphide you find, take Galena a sulphide, Galena is the main ore of silver and lead.

    • @jaratt85
      @jaratt85 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No not anymore it's not. They haven't used flint in lighters in a long time because it's so fragile. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrocerium Pyrite flints were also a thing at one point. They just call them flints because it's easy to understand as both make sparks.

    What cause quarts to deteriorate?

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Multiple things can cause rock to deteriorate. Mechanical weathering physically breaks up rock frost action or frost shattering. Water gets into cracks and joints in bedrock. When the water freezes it expands and the cracks are opened a little wider. Over time pieces of rock can split off a rock face. There's water erosion, chemicals such as acids from plants, mineral break down from elements inside the rock, even wind can cause errosion. Theres also biological weathering.

    • @russellsmith3855
      @russellsmith3855 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      911 Mining & Prospecting I notice that the dirty Orange quarts that is deteriorating that I find here in eastern Oregon has iron. It’s a looks the same as you had there. So water breaking down the iron to rust which expands and breaks down or in this case break apart the quarts releasing the gold. Is that correct???

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The water oxidizing iron won't cause expansion, what will is water in the cracks freezing. Have you ever put a pop in the freezer and had it explode? Same concept. That can cause cracks in your rock. But it's a combination of all kinds of weathering that will break down a rock, biological, chemical, mechanical.

    • @911mining
      @911mining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And yes if you have gold trapped in with your sulphides or minerals that won't break down when your sulphides do, it can leave the gold and minerals in the rotting, broken down quartz.

    • @russellsmith3855
      @russellsmith3855 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      911 Mining & Prospecting thanks I amazed at how ugly gold bearing rock can be. Still learning where to look. Contact zones, deteriorating quarts, geothermal activity etc.. the list goes on. Keep up the good videos learning a lot.
