REY & SIMBA REUNITED

- Joy as two rescued lions are reunited. Rescued from a circus in Peru and taken to the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa, the two 15-year old lions had never been apart. Even when they travelled to Africa the boy’s crates were side by side. Then Rey got sick and was taken into hospital. After two weeks he returned to the sanctuary after successful treatment. He arrived at night and the two lions went quietly to sleep, but as the sun came up, their joy at being together again was clear to see - Simba, despite his hind legs distorted by arthritis after circus life, was skipping!

Brotherly love!! Yes, I am my brother's keeper. They need lionesses.
👍🦁❤️
Circus with lions should be banned worldwide. Barbaric practice.
Glad to see them. Can the enclosure be bigger tho?
Yes, circuses with animals need to be banned worldwide. Rey and Simba's habitat is 2.5 acres.
I think you should plant a few more trees for them.
Every habitat has trees, A frames, platform shelters and night houses. However, because the land was previously denuded by farming before we purchased it for the sanctuary, it takes time for the trees we planted to grow. To help us plant more native trees for the big cats: donate.adiusa.org/trees/
From the back, one of them looks a bit bow-legged .Must be From the confinement.
Yes, that is Simba who has arthritis due to years of living in a tiny cage in a circus in Peru.
Gorgeous creatures, has the one who was in hospital had a scan.? First time I have seen them, won't be the last now!! Hence not familiar with which one is Simba/Rey. 💙🤔🏴
He was examined by ADIWS veterinarian Peter Caldwell and it was found that he had fluid that was pressing into his lungs, for which he was treated. This was two years ago and he is back to full strength and doing well.
Simba has the bow legs due to arthritis - the result of years of living in a tiny cage in a circus in Peru.
i know what they are called
These lions need girlfriends 🤨
when are u going to get some girls for these lions?
It’s called lioness..
I’m mixed on how I feel about captive lions. If they have companions and can have a small pride in captivity with proper enclosures I’m not completely against it. There are cases where they can’t go to the wild and need a place. Another reason I’m ok with it is they live such a longer life than in the wild. Kevin the lion whisperer has 2 males I believe are 19 years old almost 20. That’s insane and unheard of in the wild. If you can give them a long healthy and happy life I’m ok with it. It’s the people that keep them alone and in cages meant for dogs
Yes, we understand how you feel. The ADI Wildlife Sanctuary exists to provide a safe and peaceful home for rescued animals who were born in captivity and rescued from cruel industries (such as circuses). We've also rescued animals from wildlife traffickers. Ideally, they should all be wild and free and enjoying their natural world.
