I couldn't agree more, it depends on the method and strategy for any type of water. My go to setup when I was young came from Big 5 Sporting Goods. Lasted me for years and it was around $20 lol.
I have recently bought a boat and started exploring the Delta in more detail and I have fished Sherman Island many times and I can say that it never disappoints. Great video and lots of tips, thanks!
Like the video’s keep them going it helps for new ppl like me learning to fish I’m a beginner. What would help to is that you add on the description the lures and all that that way it’s easy to find on the web.
Hey brother, I haven't fished the AR as much. It's been a hit n miss in there, we attempted a few times but it depends on the water flow and baitfish. My uncle typically does better in the east AR fishing the holes when American shad stage un there around August. His biggest was around 20 lbs
Sherman Island. Great info on the swimbait setups. Been watching the water temps closely here in sac metro too since salmon activity won't pickup until we near the mid 60's. Good luck out there!
Thank you, it's been a roller coaster ride yet it will only get better day by day. 3 years ago we started catching salmon in late August but this year's hot summer has been making fishing tough overall. Once it cools down, get ready. Good luck 👍
I know this is old but question on the baits. How do you get them deep? 15+ feet deep. One of the reservoirs I fish have a ton of white fish including large stripers. I usually fish for large mouth bass but they have been missing lately and I want to try for stripers. This reservoir is on average been 40-100ft deep and the finder is showing them between 40-50ft but I’m not sure how to get the bait down deep. I’m in the desert so the water is just cooling off but the fish are staying low during the sunny afternoons.
Spooning is an option mentioned by memerize209, however, I also throw heavier swimbait heads for soft swimbaits to get it deeper. Another method is Carolina rigging a 1 oz weight 1 or 2 feet from the bait with a swivel to bring the bait deeper. The action remains the same yet you will have to reel the bait slower. It's similar to a down rig setup, kind of
I What’s up bro! I remember 20 years ago, we used to go over-night fishing w/ the uncles in Sherman Island (on the right side of the levee) about 1/2 mile right after Antioch Bridge. Those were the days👌🏻! Anyways stay safe and keep it up bro!🤙🏼
Thank you, the golden days are harder to find the bigger nowadays. The ecosystem was more better back then with more schools of bigger fish. Good luck, the bite will only get better daily.
Thank you, really appreciate the kind words. You can contact Sal at 209-423-1008 or email me at fishinlunkers247@gmail.com to help you purchase your preference of color and size.
Thank you, much appreciated. Sal, the owner, does not have a website at the moment but he can be reached on Instagram or his direct phone number at 209-423-1008. He also has several baits stocked in the Sacramento bait shops such as Fishermans Friend, Rio Vista Bait Tackle, Romeo's Bait Tackle, Freeport Bait Tackle, and Mega Bait Tackle. Feel free to email me at fishinlunkers247@gmail.com if you have any further questions.
@@myronyu2074 The answer depends on what your technique is, what type of fish (size), etc. Like if you throw big swimbaits or not....or if you like spinning or baitcasting. In spinning, there are some great selections different from bc. The same company do not make both equally good. Let's just generalized an overall best bc. My recommendation for your standard bc rods. I like the Genesis 3 for effectiveness, great blank. The Genesis is a bit rough on the handle as the trigger is not long enough, good for swimbaits and liplesd, not jerking. It's one that I don't use often. The new iRod is the Swimming or Swimbait something like that in collab with Toxic Bait dude. If he likes it, it will be awesome. That guy knows rods and action. The iRod Inshore is one of the best in the world, if not the best. For those who are on a budget, a Powell Diesel has great action and catchability. The Max is great for big stripers. Small stripers do come off. Bass don't. Don't know why it's like that. The key is to find a rod with catchability. Something like an Abu Veritas in white is very strong on the back bone and shall work fine. If you want the best, St. Croix at $300 up like the Tournament Elite, the best is Legend Extreme. Honorable mention is Old 18 and California. I prefer a stiffer and harder material sometimes so I bought a Johnny Morris and redo all the guides with CRB. It's stiff like a Favorite Emperor. I use the iRod Inshore for the most part bc it hooks the fish by itself. No need to set. Please me know when you are done. I need to delete this. I'm the best in this game.
Yessir, I don't have a lot of their rods but they don alot of damage from fresh to saltwater. Buddy caught a 19lb halibut this year with ease. Good luck 👍 💓 ✨
I have 2 other patterns rainbow and shad. The one here the brown trout, they dont sell that pattern here in the USA, Its a european model for some reason
Thanks for asking, you can buy them directly from Sal at 209-423-1008 or a several bait shops in the Sacramento area. Here is a list of some shops: Mega Bait & Tackle, Romeo's Bait and Tackle, Freeport Bait and Tackle, Rio Vista Bait and Tackle, and Fisherman's Friend Tackle Shop.
Sherman island..that’s wassup bro on the dot with all the info for me personally I can wait til that glide bait bites is on in my areas just need the water temp to cool down
Heck yea, its cooling day by day but I'm sure we are all waiting for that big bite when the storm arrives. Get ready, we could be in for a great fall bite.
Baitcasters in my opinion provide more accurate casts and less play in the line. The smaller rod guides help eliminate the slack line for better action and the rods and reels are lighter. Another great advantage is the elimination of line twists as well. Hope this helps.

Do you recommend any light spinning reels ?
Light spinning reels are great for lures are lighter such as spoons, flukes, jerkabits. Yet, baitcast reels are more medium to heavy baits.

Why do you use bait casters and why bait casters with braid as opposed to spinning?
Baitcasters in my opinion provide more accurate casts and less play in the line. The smaller rod guides help eliminate the slack line for better action and the rods and reels are lighter. Another great advantage is the elimination of line twists as well. Hope this helps.
