From personal experience, anchovies work well for landlocked stripers on Lake Los Vaqueros. I would think they would work elsewhere. Worth a try for sure.
Thanks. When ready to retrieve, tighten up the line then jerk the rod up to get the weight off the bottom. Then reel as fast as you can. This way you won't be dragging your weight through the bottom. Still, snags are part of fishing :) Pack extras.
Dont need a bell on that rod with the Okuma Avenger BaitRunner, just turn the bottom drag loose and set the baitrunner, you will hear it loud and clear when the fish runs with the bait
You have a lot of good information but it is difficult to see what you are doing when you are standing in a dark shaded area. The wind noise also is annoying and makes it hard to follow what you are saying. The up close teaching parts could be done indoors with better lighting and listening conditions. The on-shore demonstration would be fine to do as you did if you added a foam shield on your microphone to eliminate some of the wind noise. Keep the good information coming.
So far, I found this way to be superior to what I've done in the past, but, I am always open to experimentation. How would you recommend rigging anchovies?
Pierce the anchovy closer to the tail end then rotate the anchovy parallel to the shank of the hook. Use magic thread to wrap bait to shank. It won't come off...ever. @@catchhappy
I love your channels, they’re so helpful. Landon
I appreciate the info you covered. I was sorta hoping to see you catch a striper tho.
:) Caught plenty in my other videos. Here I focused on instruction.
@@catchhappywhat spot is that if you don’t mind ?
@@luisalmaraz8647 Napa Sea Ranch. It's $5 per person, I believe. Lots of bank space to fish.
@@catchhappythank you
@@catchhappy Hey what power rod do you suggest. Medium power rod or medium heavy power
Thank you greatly for sharing
Wonder if those anchovy would work for the landlocked stripers in the south? Alabama lakes?

Great video! Any tips on avoiding getting caught? Either on logs, in between rocks or holes, in the weeds, etc.

Fishing at Napa Sea Ranch, by the creek. Not bad...

That is not the way to rig a bait at all. That way you’ll lose more bait then catching fish
