You can say now that you lived on the Coast of Alaska and foraged for the plentiful food the Ocean has to offer. And I must say that the ling Cod you first caught would have provided you and your partner a nice meal the first night in the cabin. You would have had two perfect size filets that would have been excellent. but the nice red Ling Cod was actually a BEAST and will give you food for a few days. What a pleasure it is to be in a cabin so far removed from everywhere else and then a natural hot spring to soak in and rest the sore muscles from hiking afterwards is perhaps the biggest reason to go there, I mean the entire package is fantastic but the Natural hot springs with its own building is a bonus and a half. And is almost a mirror of Japanese food, just on the opposite side of the pond from Japan, and perhaps a little further North than the main Island. That kind of life is what I lived for as a young man and have had a number of experiences similar to this only for my part the fishing and foraging wasn't nearly as good as what you had. What a perfect location and perfect cabin to be able to access. How did you get to be able to use it? I'm sure not everyone can access that cabin and use it. I'd have to say that you struck a lucky streak and got access to a cabin hardly anyone can use! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Hey, I'm from Portugal... to harvest the "percebes" you can't pull on them, you have to scrape the rock with something sharp so you don't break the little black arm part that is full of sea water and delicies juices. When you are harvesting them in the video you can see the juices dripping out. The way you cooked them was perfect, just simply boiling water and a good amount a sea salt (ideally the same concentration of salt you would have on sea water) Love the videos!
I am from Spain neighbor. I agree with you. And with the price they reach i wouldn't sautee them with nothing hahaha. It's so nice in Alaska during the Summer. As for grizzly bears, it's probably not a problem unless you were staying in a cabin or camper in the Winter when they're hungry with limited food sources. Nice fish!
Dude. You killed it. I am a lifer from Juneau. White Sulfer is one of the best places on the planet and your forage on the beach, landing of the ling, and preparations were just superb. Nice job chef.
I used to fish in northern california and catching lingcod is such a treat. They are so clean and fresh eating. I had made stuffed ling cod for some guests, and they were wowed by how sweet and fresh it tasted. Put the meat in aluminum foil, squeeze some lemon juice all over it, put a pat of butter on it, salt and pepper, slice some lemons to place on the fish. Sprinkle some parsley over it. Wrap it up and bake at 350 for maybe 15-20 minutes. Comes out so tasty.
Taku: An Alaskan from 1967 for 38 years. What more can I say how you dealt with coastal Alaska weather in late August (RAIN) with a smile and adventure. Your fish filleting/butchering skills are incomparable. Your beach/surf side food foraging, food prep, cooking and presentations are astounding. The lures of AK are the blue fox Vibrax and Pixie; but you landed an arms lengths ling barely above legal size for non residents. in AK: Sea planes are "float planes". Woods are "forests". BIG Brown bears are coastal (interior browns are grizzles, in cold country long hibernating seasons) that feed lots on salmon with short hibernating season. Black bears can be coastal and interior but mix much only deadly with either brown/grizzly when they mix. Blacks may eat you. Browns just want to dominate you. Glad you enjoyed your stay at White Sulfur Springs near Sitka, AK. I very much enjoyed your Alaska travels.
Thanks Taku for posting this awesome video. I work many hours in my job and right now my life is just that. I’ve been fishing pier and jetty but haven’t been lucky. Love seeing this type of content, everything else you two do is great, but there’s something about catch and cooks for big rockfish and lingcod off the rocks that will always just slap. Also nice cedros! Crazy drag stacks in those things for how inexpensive, light and compact they are.

I am so happy for the both of you to be able to live the life you are living because there are very few people in the world like you two and you both deserve everything that you get to experience 💕 I'll always watch and support even if I know zero about fishing and costal foraging lol just because I love y'all's relationship that much.
@@JC-wn1sp well based off what I do see I like their relationship.. I'm sure all couples have difficult times. I'm married and we have an almost 4 year old so I know the struggle. And now you got crispy kelp?! Love the scenery in your vids. One of my favorite vids was when you had strangers come on your channel and you shared food you had just cooked. That was really cool
👍Loved the coastal foraging. You found some interesting stuff. That Gumboot did not look edible, but once you cleaned it, it looked like abalone. I'd like to see more coastal foraging.
It is so peaceful there, I could watch an entire series of the day to day life living in this cabin & of you foraging the land surrounding it. The rain, the scenery, & the amazing fishing & food. It seems like everything about this trip was just beyond epic. Thanks for bringing us a long. Cheers!
Im soo jealous,we used to catch lings like that in the early 70s off the calif.coast s.f. i remember those huge fillets the absolute best flavor ever. Enjoy my friend you have earned it!🙂
some other old timer I ran into was telling me back in the day there were a crazy amount of fish in SoCal that he would catch some whoppers all the time
@@Mundanesoup4 yes,its true, if you look at the history we had a 35 mile ocean border. China came along with its huge ocean trawlers and scooped up all the fish, they took everything. Thats why our ocean border is 200 miles now.

We had the worms in the 70s lings and rock fish we removed what we could then as long as you cook the fillets to 165 internal temp they cause no problem. I ate so much of this im ok and never encountered a problem.
You know it's a plus for a man to like cooking and fishing together ❤️ Super amaze 🙌 gotta comment twice on this clip. Some tv channels only shows fishing or cooking separately. Have me clicking, switching that back button, the recent channel each time a commercial comes up from cooking to fishing. 👍
I stayed at that same cabin with a friend who was formerly in forestry. Amazing it is indeed... but I wish we thought to check tide pools. We had no luck finishing anywhere near the cabin, it was always a far hike away to the outer point. I’d love to go back...our trip was cut short due to unexpected snow. That’s not a place you risk chancing it.
Same, our timber cruising bog got filled to capacity and we were placed there by the FS. You can do pretty much anything there considering how remote it is. A lot of work and time is needed to maintain these cabins

When u hooked on to that huge fish it brought a huge smile to my face. I wish I’ll be blessed someday to go on a fishing adventure like this.
Taku your filet skills never fail to impress, those cuts with the knife at 33:00 are seriously impressive given what you are working with
Your excitement is intoxicating. Love you love Jocelyn. It's 5:30 a.m. and YOU started my day excited. Woohoo let's see what the day brings for all of us😊
This has got to be the best video/adventure to date!! Love it! Taku is the man!
Man watching these videos makes me want to explore the world. All these experiences we're missing and the memories that could be made.
Everything about this video made me so happy. Epic location, epic fish, epic cook! Congrats Taku!
When watching a video like this, I'm brought along by either the excellent filming and audio work or the pure childlike excitement the people are experiencing.
Thanks for bringing so many of us with you to Alaska, Taku. Can't wait to see where you take all of us next.
I believe I was your 10th subscriber.... so when I say I've been watching ya'll since day 1... it's no joke. So thankful for ya'll and all your adventures, tips and tricks, and work you put into your content. Thank you for years of smiles...for helping my soul when I was depressed...I wish I knew how I could tell ya'll what ya'll have done for me. I lost 2 jobs coz of covid... my identity was stolen and I got 0 help from any aide... my health took a nose dive... i lost multiple friends and family members including last September when I lost 3 in 2 weeks...and helping kids in need, which was my air, had to take a back seat...I was and still am struggling at the amount of loss I've endured over the last couple years Thank you.... Infinitely.... I'm back to volunteering and helping kids the best I can with what I've been handed... thank you! Sending good vibes to yall from the gulf coast.
Second I saw the thumbnail I knew I had to re watch this gem! 💎 red ling has been a dream fish ever since you taught me about them😅
Thankyou for taking us all on your Alaska adventures.
The cinematic footage from the hot spring was amazing, made me feel and wish I was there for sure, you’re definitely sooo lucky. To enjoy it all with Jocelyn is even better. Wish I had the opportunity to do this with my girlfriend for sure.
Love seeing this type of content, everything else you two do is great, but there’s something about catch and cooks for big rockfish and lingcod off the rocks that will always just slap. Also nice cedros! Crazy drag stacks in those things for how inexpensive, light and compact they are.
triggered by your use of the norcal term for good music "slap" lmao.
*Mac Dre noises intensifies*
Taku’s excitement, jumping up and down with joy, is just priceless😁👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾That’s what’s up man!
Your videos just get better and better! I love the genuine joy you bring to each one. You inspire me!
I love how you gave her the first drink. You are a gentleman in my book my man. Awesome video!!!
You caught the red Gyarados!! This was truly an epic catch and cook 💯💯💯
I like your lingcod in your profile pic haha!
@@Liamwonders that was a BLUE gyarados. Now I gotta go get a red one! 🐉
Amazing!!! What a blessing,I am out here in Pennsylvania, woke up at 4:30 am wanted to go fishing but it's a little cold so I decided to just make me some coffee and cruise TH-cam. Finding your video... brother this was just as exciting as me catching the big one...your adventure was just thrilling to me... thanks for taking me with you!!!!✌️❤️
Great stuff. Love the video. As a cook myself, it's always a blessing to watch people cooking things I've never known about. Thanks for creating.
Incredible folks. Never eaten that kind of things. but loved the chef loving it all with his gal.
How awesome is this that it's owned by the forest service so everyone can enjoy this place.
That was some nice fileting skills Chef, and quite the spread. Great job!
I hope you guys stocked some wood for the next visitor to the site.
Just amazing! Even uneven sound and lens condensation couldn't hurt this epic trip and content! Thanks, Chef.
the drone footage in the hot spring building..loved it..nice job

The wonderful fare not withstanding, a beautiful spread and plating.
You really know how to treat a Lady. Well done, Sir.
I Love this kind of adventure, fishing, cooking story. What a great adventure host! I felt like you welcomed me into your epic story. SO well done, I'm hooked!
Just found this channel tonight, and I am happy to report that this is possibly the best video I've watched in years.
With a title like "BEST Catch and Cook" I was suspicious, maybe clickbait, but after watching the whole thing, I must say you convinced me, that was absolutely fantastic!
Such a calm and informative video, exactly what I needed today 5:55
Seriously loved watching this! Was awesome to see how happy you guys were!
Thats so awesome and setup so nice for people to explore the Alaska coast. And an enclosed hotspring..... omg omg. Fantastic video young man. Your joy is infectious!
How cute when you start bouncing because you're excited like a kid in a candy store with a sack full of money! Lol! I'm so glad that you got to leave the restaurant and be a full-time TH-camr. You and Jocelyn (I hope I spelled it right) make the most awesome videos. Now I have my whole family hooked on watching your videos. God bless and be safe on your travels. 😉
Your happiness is contagious! Thank you for providing this experience for those of us who can't ever do it. Stay safe!
The peace at the end had me dying 😂😂😂😂😂 overall this video and the content that you put out is all so amazing and weirdly undescribable. We see millions of couples doing this on TH-cam but this feels very cool watching you too more because of how much pride you take in cooking not bullshitting the meal you just caught. So amazing. ❤
Incredible. Hot springs are one of the wonders of the world. So amazing. And how they utilize it in the cabin.... Absolutely incredible
I just love your videos. You and Jocelyn together are so calming and have a really nice energy.
My husband is a 1911 guy so if that's what your username is referring to then I see why talking to you is so difficult because he is the same. But it's all in a joking manner. I'm not being serious in the least bit.. none of this social media or TH-cam banter stuff is taken into my everyday life. I say what I say and then move on.
I’m turning 18 soon but I’m really going to struggle to become an adult and work like the average joe. In recent time I’ve really started to appreciate nature and want to live a life doing things like this. You’re living my dream life and I’m so happy for you assuming you like it as much as I do.
I started following from nearly the beginning of your channel. I remember seeing the amount of subscribers you had just increased exponentially out of nowhere. You started you're own line of knives. And now you got crispy kelp?! Love the scenery in your vids. One of my favorite vids was when you had strangers come on your channel and you shared food you had just cooked. That was really cool
I’m so happy for you all, thank you for sharing this beautiful journey
Thats why our ocean border is 200 miles now.
man, what a breath of fresh air on youtube. Watching this was so relaxing and exciting at the same time!
I love your energy man, I felt like I was watching myself fish.
I have to agree that hot spring and cabin are the most spectacular beautiful things I've seen in a long time
Hey Taku, just came across your channel tonight and I had to subscribe. Living in Alaska has always been a dream of mine, especially being able to fish in some of the most beautiful places in Alaska. Really enjoyed this video, really makes me want to move there now lol. Can't wait to watch more of your content.
I just saw you on TV, not relevant to this video but just thought that was so cool, started showing my mom all your videos :) thank you for producing such quality content
That is such a beautiful cabin and a beautiful place in Alaska can’t wait to go there someday!! 🙏🏻🤙🏻
This video was amazing. So happy for you and glad you are able to share these wonderful experiences on this platform.
Taku…THIS was truly amazing. I’d write more but I’m seriously lost for words. Keep the good adventures coming!
PS-I can see a new home for you guys in Alaska. It suits you and certainly, the thought had to have crossed your minds 😏
“I’m 3,000 miles away from home, yet…everything feels so familiar…” -Taku 2022
TOTALLY!
a fun episode, an amazing place, part of amazing America...be well, you two good youngsters!
Just casually ate dinner while watching and didn't even realise it was a 48 minute video! Great work!
What an amazing trip you have had. My life’s dream has always been to make it to Alaska and enjoy all that the ocean has to offer. I will never get to live that dream so thank you for sharing your experience with us. I’m so happy I happened upon your show. I will be following now!
I was most curious about the parasites on the lingcod.. and you focused on just that! amazing content as always taku!
Taku is the first human ever just snap randomly in Alaska coast n made a crazy good n luxury dish out of it !! Beat me 🤣🤣🤣
Those goosenecks look really good. The whole meal came out fantastic. Had my mouth watering.
How can I find the cabin online? Is it the white sulpher springs cabin?
Same, our timber cruising bog got filled to capacity and we were placed there by the FS. You can do pretty much anything there considering how remote it is. A lot of work and time is needed to maintain these cabins
I'm very happy for y'all. I'm 55 years from Alabama and one legged and Alaska probably would be hard on me but it's beautiful.. y'all enjoy
Okay I’ve stayed at a couple remote FS cabins in Alaska, but never with a hot spring!! How amazing
Great video. The clip flying out of the hot spring cabin was just excellent!!! AK is such an incredible destination.
sorry to hear you lost your sponsor you truly make the best outdoor fishing content/traveling on youtube you deserve more !! love you bro
@@JC-wn1sp what content do you make? For someone that really hates on all his videos and only comments negatively I'd assume you just wouldn't watch him 🤷🏻 but go off..
@I love cracklins right? The suspense...
Way to leave the people hangin.
"If you only knew" wtheck is that supposed to mean? Lol 😂 tell the people if you know so much.
@@JC-wn1sp I mean... they are putting their life online and making a 50 minute movie basically to entertain us. Take into account the time, the effort, the cost, the planning, ect.. I'm just saying just because you think he might have "overcooked salmon" you shouldn't just disregard the effort of the whole entire video by leaving such a short meaningless simpleton comment about one part. When it's a whole production.
@@JC-wn1sp or "not appealing. presentation needs work" like he's cooking octopus balls on rocks next to a lake over a campfire.. gimme a break. Dude is just working with what he's got.
And you still haven't told us the top secret reason why he got fired 🥸
@@JC-wn1sp I'm actually the complete opposite. Thanks tho.
This is the best catch and cook I’ve ever seen. You’re living my dream. Keep up the great work.
I always bring old Bay seasoning with me when I go camping like that you’d be surprised how good it goes with just about everything even eggs
44:08 and that is how you keep a relationship healthy. Great video, cheers!!
