Great video! I’m on a ttr230 myself was looking at switching to the klx140f.. newer rider, picked up the sport to ride with my boys. ttr is way to heavy for me when i bail.
looking for a bike for my girlfriend and im torn between getting her the 230 or the 140. Shes about 5'8 with absolutely no riding experience. Shes very smart, so i dont foresee her having problems learning clutch, but I just dont want something that is underpowered that she will grow out of. We ride a lot of cross country and have some decent sized hills on some of the trails we ride and I wanted to see how well the 140 handles hills, if it can even make it up them or if the extra power the 230 has is actually worth it when considering the height of the bike and her lack of comfort on a bike.
ttr 230 is night and days above the klx140 in torque. KX100 is a differnt Animal its a 2 stoke motorcross bike made to ride wide open on a track or wide open area's ttr & klx are trail bikes made for the woods. As far as keeping up unless its a drag race a good rider can outrun an average rider if a way slower bike. I have done many Hair scrambles and always place better on my 250's then 450's don't worry about power you will be faster on a bike that fits your size and ability. My son sold the k140 and loves the 230 but is no faster on the 230 and in single track wishes he still had the 140
hi, i am 16 looking for my first bike i am about 5'7-5'8 about 130 i plan on only doing trail riding i have heard a bunch about the ttr 230, do u think it would be good for me
I am 13 5,5 120 pounds I have a 230 right now but in trails it it a little heavy and has so electric start issues I might sell it to get a klx 140g I was wondering the power difference between the two bikes
Power difference is night and day. That said the 140 will get you where you need to go in and make it up any hill. Just may have to ring it's neck a little more. A lighter bike will definitely help you hone your skills
Hey Bill I’m 17 about 5’11~6 foot and about 260 lbs do you think a ttr 230 would be a good fit for me? I have a little riding experience from when I was younger I’m strong so I don’t fear I’d have a hard time lifting the bike my fear is I’m too big and I’d bottom out the suspension. I don’t need anything super fast but I don’t trust myself to not kill my self on a bigger bike like a 450. Money isn’t a issue either. Get back to me if you can, thanks.
Honestly, how will you be using it what kind of terrain do you ride. The engine will move you fine and get you where you have to go, The ttr (or a crf230) will be a great bike to learn on and you will learn to be a better rider, the suspension will be a bit soft for you. and you will learn to out ride the bike. You don't need a 450 and stay away from motocross bikes unless you plan on riding on a track. The beauty of these bikes is they are easy to sell you sell it for what you paid if you but right. That said when you out grow the ttr look for a wr250f crf250x or if you dont mind kicking a klx300r are all awesome trail bikes (but not as simple and maintenance-free as the air-cooled bikes
get a yz125 will fit you better and used they’re not too expensive i’m 5’10 and fit it perfectly. you can do anything on then if you get it geared right.
If your like 10-14 and have never ridden a bike I would go with a 140 or a bike similar too it if your any older and your a beginner rider I would go with the 230
Honestly, unless you have a lot of experience wait until you are a little taller. you don't want to be learning how to ride if you can't get your feet down.
I’m Sold! Upgrading from KLX 140 to the 230 Nice Vid!! 👍
Thank's I hope it was Helpful
Very useful video, particularly the knee bend differences - thanks for this (from a dad looking at my sons first trail bike)
Thanks
Great video! I’m on a ttr230 myself was looking at switching to the klx140f.. newer rider, picked up the sport to ride with my boys. ttr is way to heavy for me when i bail.
glad I was able to help. You will learn more on a lighter bike.
Great video - thanks for the detailed comparison.

Hey what kinda bend is the handle bar is on the Klx 140? I want to put it on my 2018 klx
How much faster is the 230 and can a ttr 240 keep up with kx 100 and ex 400 ?

3:25 the TTR 230 is not 351 pounds. My crf 230f is 253 pounds so that can’t be true.
251 I corrected myself later in the video

You know you're going to have to get him the klx230 dualsport when he's older.
Ha Probably Don't tell my wife. I may try and dual sport the ttr and get it a plate
Klx sounded better imo, Klx also has more ground clearance and 15kg lighter.
If your like 10-14 and have never ridden a bike I would go with a 140 or a bike similar too it if your any older and your a beginner rider I would go with the 230
Good stuff
Appreciate it
would the 230 be too big for me? i’m 5’1 and 170 pounds and 15 years old

if it’s a first bike get a klx140 or 140l. if you have had a bike before get a big wheel 85
how much faster is the 230 than the klx140
night and day as far as power & torque.
