Hello Maykel 🤗💐 yay!! New orchids, and with a little help from a fellow orchid grower, perfect timing!! Awesome! I love comments like these! 🙌🏼 Have a wonderful day, Maykel and thank you so much for watching! 🌸
Hello Anne 🥰💐 wish my teacher would hear what you have written and apply it to my Arts & Crafts grade 🤣 I was so useless at the girlie stuff... can't paint, can't sow, .... give me something like a drill, wire and pliers, and I somehow manage to pull things off... thanx to my dad 😉 I hope that you have a wonderful Wednesday and I really appreciate your kind comment. Thank you so much for watching! 🌸
Whoop!! Glad you liked it and can make some use of it for yourself 🙌🏼🤗💐 Looking forward to hearing when you get your first vanda. Thank you so much for watching! 🌸
Hi Melissa! 🥰💐 It turned out better than I thought, and the cable tidy tubing, it may just stay as a permanent feature, unless I can find UV stable pond / aquarium tubing that I can buy in bulk without having to buy the whole pond kit! But, even if it starts to degrade, it will be easy to replace because it is open and can be woven around the wire. The count down has begun to see how long it can hold up to the elements. Winter won't be a problem, the real test will be next season. But I am so glad that I finally got this done... they have been laying on racks for weeks.... they need to recover... my poor vandas, just bloomed their hearts out this season! Thank you for watching, Melissa and for leaving me a comment!! Have a fabulous day! ❤️🌸
That was a cool DIY. The 2 vandas look beautiful hanging and seem to be enjoying the wind and sun/shade. I will have to make sure I have these items if and when I get my first vanda. Have a wonderful day.
Hi K P! 🤗💐 Once all the equipment is out on the table, the rest is pretty much easy peasy... and I straighten wire for future use, so I don't have to get out the whole kit and kaboodle for every little job. I am glad that there was something that you can use and adapt, maybe even perfect 😃 Have a wonderful rest of your day, thank you so much for watching! 🌸
HI Doc!! 🤗💐 this has come so handy for me in life! I don't have to find the right gage wire anymore, ... back in the day, I thought my dad was showing me stuff on the ship, as occupational therapy, but whaddaya know.... his little things have all come in handy at one point in time or another 😃 Thank you for watching and leaving me such a kind comment! Have a wonderful day Jamaicaaa!! 🥰🌸
HI Kelly!! 🤗💐 👏🏼 I am glad to read that this was something that was useful and can be of advantage at a later stage! Thank you for letting me know in such kind comment, and for watching, Thank YOU! 🌸
Hello wonderful lady! 🤗💐 I am glad that you like the idea and maybe it can come in handy for you some day. Deluxe is the way to go for our Orchids 😉 then... we can improve even more 😬 Thank you so much for watching, have a wonderful day!! 🌸
@@NinjaOrchids I do use wire to secure my plants inspired by Rick L’s channel, but my wire has bends 😄. I have done all of my repotting now but it certainly is something I will try in the future🤗
Hi Mary!! 🤗💐 I bet your hubby already knew about this, but now.... to use it with the orchids... even more fun 😃 Thank you for taking the time to watch and I really hope you have a wonderful day! 🌸
Very Nice Nina!😊❤️ good thing the wires I made for my vandas are not yet rusty or else I have to replace them coz i cant find that plastic coating you have 🤗 also, i now know how to straighten the wires 😄 thank you!😀❤️ i hope can do it myself, until then i will ask my husband to do it for me😅
Cheery!! 🤗💐 Hi! I know that there is wire out there that won't rust, but I don't want to go out to any hardware stores to try and find it, so ... I always use the one I can buy locally and I can walk to that shop. It rusts... I used to use sello tape to tape the area where root may come out, but... I like the idea of protective tubing and it looks snazzy 😉 Thank you for taking the time to watch this video! Have a wonderful day, beautiful lady! 🌸
Hi Danielle 🥰💐 learned something while on the ship with my dad 😅 I never thought it would come in handy, but here I am doing what I did back then and having flashbacks whenever I do it. Good fun and now with that tubing, I won't have to worry about burning roots or stopping their growth because I touched them while trying to tape the wire where they are coming out. Hopefully the material will last long enough because I am sure that it is not UV stable. BUT, it will be easy to remove and replace because it is an open curl... pros and cons... time will tell! I hope you get a slumpday as opposed to humpday today, my fellow orchid lover!! 🙌🏼
@@NinjaOrchids how lovely to have those memories of being with your dad! I love your outside the box thinking! Gets my brain going to. I enjoy thinking up new ways to grow.
Hi Michelle 🥰💐 But with a tool box as an image 🤣 considering some of the kit we use, ... I have an orchid tool box 😅 Hope that you are doing well and having a wonderful day so far! Thank you so much for watching! 🌸
Hi Lynn! 🤗💐 now that is an idea... if I can find something along those lines, cheap... 😬 but first, I want to test the UV stability of these cable tidies... winter will not be a problem, but lets see what they do in summer! Thank you so much for watching, Lynn! 🌸
🦒🦒Well, well, well, that was funny and very instructive demonstration. I haven't had Vandas long enough to have rust on my hangers but I surely liked this idea. Pretty neat, deLuxe!!!! You are a Lady of many talents dear Nina After the ninja mounts we have learned how to make ninja hangers. They look superb and easy to make 👌👌Woo hooo!!! 😃😃 Thank you for a great useful vídeo and wish you a wonderful wednesday with mingi abrazos from your Rafiki yangu🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Hi, FFF!!! 🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 I will let my dad know that his Tomboy activities to keep me busy on the ship, are being received with a lot of enthusiasm! 😃 I have wonderful flashbacks when I straighten my wire these past years. Never thought that I would need his method so much ... and of all things, for growing orchids. Good man! Occupational therapy methods on the ship have certainly come in handy (fundi) in many many aspects of doing things around the house on my own. Sometimes I need a third hand for those tasks as well 🤣 except electrics... I am not touching anything to do with electrics... my dyslexic tendencies make me too scared of doing anything with that! It was super windy again this morning!!! The winds of change are certainly coming in strong... tomorrow looks to be nice and quiet, so, I will get some more filming done and then the orchids are settling down, so.... daily videos will be a thing of the past. I have no intention of doing videos for the sake of doing videos,... there are a few things left on my schedule and then I can 'leave' people alone 😃Have yourself a wonderful day, meine liebe Freundin!! Big hugs to you!! ❤️🌸Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
Hi there! 🤗💐 it does! And I always sello taped the area where the next root grows, but still.. this actually looks quite nice and now I have to wait and see how long they will last, with the elements. The cable tidies tube may need changing at some point as I am sure it is not UV stable. But by that time, I hope that I have found aquarium tubing that I can buy in bulk. Thank you so much for leaving a comment and for taking the time to watch! 🌸
Thank you so much as always for these tutorials! I think that is a great idea and I have vandas with very wonky hangers, so I'm going to try this. I have a large Vanda with two thick roots that grow to the left and right just like this one. I soak my vandas overnight, and I do that with buckets with all of my other vandas. But the one with roots just like this one will no longer fit in a bucket, so I have been soaking it in the bathroom sink overnight, but it still doesn't fit. I read about buying large plastic storage bins for this kind of thing to soak them in. What do you use?
Hi 😍💐 you are very welcome! I like my wires to be as straight as possible, and well...thanx dad 😉😃 When I had that issue with my big vandas, I wrapped strips of microfibre around those roots that stick out making the vanda not fit into anything. I would mist the microfibres to the point of dripping and that did the trick for a few hours. Repeated as and when necessary. For my large Chao Praya that is on a totem pole, I wrapped hob filter material around the roots as they were getting longer and longer. That was 3 years ago. That material is still on the roots, the roots kept growing and some are branching from that area etc etc. It does look nasty after a while, but it works so I can look past that 😃 I used to have a huge tub for soaking my big vandas, but the roots grew longer, and then it was tough to get them into the tub to soak as well, if wanting to protect the stem 🤨 it just goes on and on with vandas when we try to grow them in a home / outdoor space without the high humidity that they need. I hope that these suggestions help or give you some ideas as to what you can do with your roots 👍🏼 thank you so much for watching this video 🫶🏼 hope your day was fabulous ❤️🌸

Wait a gosh darn minute. I saw a headless horseman at the end of the video. I swear you boxed that stump up and sent it off to someone. Am I getting dementia?
Michael!! Hi! 🤗💐 Nope... your keen eye picked up on the lower half of the Lavender Mist, which I am trying to see if the 2 keikis will progress, or if the whole orchid is just going to collapse. The roots are super tired, even tho I do soak them longer than the rest... 🤷🏼♀️ it is not in the way at this point in time, but if I do not see some progress regarding new roots around the keikis, then for the winter season, I may have to chop the main perimeter of roots because that expanse of what not is too big to accommodate. Good the back ground zoom going, Michael 😅 I love it! 🥰 Thank you so much for watching!! Have a fabulous day 🌸
