FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 good evening, meine liebe Freundin! Pretty much agree with your statement, yes! Personally, I love that my complex hybrid is already showing new growths at the base. I enjoyed fertilizing both of them throughout the winter last time, so, I hope that the cooksonianum will follow suit and grow some new growths this winter as well. Get some nice looking leaves back 😅 thank YOU so much for taking time to be here, on a video that you already know all the information about. I truly appreciate your support! 🙏🏼 Muchas gracias, amiga mia! I hope you are doing well and that you had a beautiful weekend 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Very timely video! Very informative video! I am really hoping I’m on the right track this year with my Nobile. Sweet Fairy Moon has been in the garage on a window sill for about 6 weeks now with temperature ranges in the 50’s and 40’s with very little water. Love your analogy that we should be like the dew-that explains perfectly how to water right now! BTW: I haven’t been around much lately, just watching an occasional video from time to time (sometimes life just gets in the way) but find I miss your easy going way of sharing your orchid care with us. Anyway, I saw that you are just shy of 10K Subscribers!!! Well done! Keep at it! Huge milestone! ❤ “Come on people, subscribe and reap a wealth of practical knowledge on the art of growing orchids!!!!!”
Barbara, hi 😍💐 it is so good to see you!! I so appreciate you taking a moment to come see what is going on here despite your busy schedule and also this time of year, is super busy for many. Thank you so so much for your time 🙏🏼 it is amazing that, just the other day, I was thinking about you and hoping you were doing well, and here you are 😃🥳 friendship telepathy, that is what I call it! I am going to keep my fingers crossed that your Sweet Fairy Moon (darling name btw) will respond with your perfect location and temperatures, and give you an amazing blooming. I love the dew analogy as well, if I may say so myself. It really does put the watering needs into perspective no matter where in the world anyone grows their nobiles or other winter resting dendrobiums for that matter! I am glad that this hit the spot 👍🏼 I was at 10012 subscribers a week ago and lost 42 within 6 hrs, so I am trying to see what it is going to take to get back over the 10k milestone. I was gutted when I woke up one morning and was back to 9.970. I am struggling with health issues atm, so, last week when I saw the 10k milestone was reached, it gave me a moment of joy, only to have it taken away the next day. So.... the 2nd attempt to reach the summit is happening atm. I so appreciate your last line, Barbara! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 how very very kind of you! Time will tell if I loose more subscribers when I reach 10k for the second time. 🥴 however, YOU are still here and for that I am truly grateful! Focussing on a milestone is not the way I want to be, instead, focussing on the support that has been here for so long, THAT is what lifts my spirits and that is what I need to keep my sights on. So, lovely lady! Thank YOU so much for everything, all these years! I so appreciate you and hope that, while you are busy, that everything is going your way 🫶🏼❤️🌸
😍Denise!! Hi 💐 thank YOU so much for watching a video on orchid care that you are well versed in! I so appreciate your support and time 🙏🏼 I hope that you are being pampered from head to feets 🥰 wishing you a relaxing and comfortable rest of your weekend, lovely lady 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Hanging in there, Denise! On a wing and a prayer 🫣 I am so ready for bed already... I wonder if you can relate that dealing with pain drains you physically and mentally? Bringing on fatigue? It is something that really makes me feel so very tired, plus the temperature... yep! Ready for bed 🥴 meanwhile, its trivial and I hope that YOU are able to relax and rest 🤗🫶🏼
@NinjaOrchids 👍🏼Hang in there, Nina. It's physically and mentally draining dealing with pain! Having some good and some bad days myself. I hope you're not too overwhelmed 😔. Take it easy 🫶
Hi Nil 😍💐 welcome! I believe that I have not seen you in the comments before, so first of all, a warm warm welcome and secondly, thank you so much for being here / for watching! I appreciate the support and your kind feedback. Thank you for letting me know 🫶🏼 Wishing you a wonderful rest of your weekend ❤️🌸
Hi there, nice to hear from you. I haven’t been here. I haven’t been for for quite a few weeks so I didn’t look at my iPad that much but back again getting better each day now so I’ll catch you soon. Very interesting video. Thank you.❤❤❤
Andrea, hi 😍💐 I have hardly been here myself, lovely lady!! It is so nice to see your comment, thank you so very much 🙏🏼 I have lost my voice for several days now. The bad storms we have had, running around in the wet and the cold for hours and hours, the physical exertion was too much. Now my body is just saying NO! For that reason, I have not been filming or editing much... too unwell to concentrate. So, again, thank YOU so much for being here 🙏🏼 I am always so happy to see you!! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and wish you a beautiful Sunday to top it off 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Hi 😍💐 thank you so so much for your kind feedback 🫶🏼 thank you, also, for watching 🫶🏼 I hope your day is going beautifully 🫶🏼 really appreciate your support 🥹❤️🌸
Outstanding, Awesome, Nina, you are my guiding Orchid Angel 😇. You covered it all completely and I can not thank you enough. Lord only knows why you don't have 500,000 subscribers. You are the most intelligent Orchid Master anywhere😊. I watered two of my nobile far to much last winter, no flowers just Kiki's. I did not give them the temp drop they require. Thank you for clearing up my misconceptions about their care and Thank You so so much for this video. Much❤🎉😅😊❤❤
🌸🥷🏼 Bob San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 first of all, thank you so so much for your kind super thanks! I cannot express just how much I appreciate your kindness towards the orchids, thank you🫶🏼 also for watching and for your feedback 🙏🏼 TH-cam is shadow banning my channel. While I have done my research and feel discriminated against, because of the location that I am operating my channel from, there is nothing I can do but keep trying to get into the algorithm to somehow get more eyeballs on here. BUT you know what? You and so many others keep me going, encouraging me with such a close friendship, I am blessed to have you and others here. Truly blessed and I am so grateful for you ❤️ my curiosity is piqued about the amount of water possibly being a correlation to the keikis you got 🤔 something I have to allow to percolate in my head and see if there is something behind the amount of moisture we provide that produce keikis as opposed to just being the dew. Interesting. Also, don't forget the acclimating period of the forced nobiles, that we get in bloom out of season... they will need a year to adjust to the right seasons, once they arrive in our home. Usually, the first year, will result in keikis from those orchids because their hormones are now being regulated normally, not being forced in the nurseries. Not having those growth hormones to force and bloom nobiles, out of season, causes the orchid to trigger an alert that it has to fight for itself, until it can settle into the new environment. Not sure if that makes sense. But I have linked a video in the description as to 'what to expect from your new nobile within the first year after purchase'. In case you would like to double check if that resonates with yours' that produce keikis? Thank YOU so much for the request and for everything you do for the orchids and myself. Most important of all, thank YOU so much for your friendship 😘 Happy Thanksgiving, 🌸🥷🏼Cariño San! 🫶🏼❤️🌸
TH-cam seems to have eaten my comment from yesterday (but took the money, so I hope it reached its destination nevertheless) - just wanted to thank you, Nina, for this video. Could not be at a better moment for my first and only Dendrobium nobile hybrid which I finally had to move indoors after two months of a dry chill outside. It was covered in tiny nubbins by then and shoot out five new growths within two weeks of the temperature shock of going from 5°C to 17°C and a much longer daylight duration under grow lights in the living room. I hesitated to resume normal watering fearing negative effect on blooming, but will now gladly follow your advice and give the plant some light meals :-) Your notion of dew as the source of hydration during the dry winter season is really important as dew - contrary to rainwater flowing over the bark of tree trunks and branches - is really a pure distilled water with no nutrients whatsoever. Thank you again 🙏
😍Ilja! Hi 💐 Wow!! I am so sorry that YT did that to you 😫😵💫😡 how very very annoying! I did not see your comment, your contribution to the orchids, nothing! I checked the 'held for review' section where some comments go because YT may think there is something in that comment that should need approval first, and there is nothing in there either. So, I cannot say if what you did out of the kindness and supportive nature of your heart, made it through. I do not see it under the part where these kinds of donations should show up either! I am going to take a screenshot of your comment and send it to YT as part of their feedback feature. However, as I never hear back from YT when I send them concerns about what is going on / not going on, on my channel, I am not going to be able to get back to you on that either, to update you. IF you check your TH-cam purchases section, you should be able to see if you were billed or not. I cannot see if anything changes on my earnings until tomorrow December 2nd because it takes 2 days for any earnings changes / additions to show in my analytics. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance when it comes to your money! I am not hiding a comment here to pretend I got nothing and maybe double dip. This one is not on me, and I hope you trust me in this instance. I so appreciate you, though, for even having done the Super Thanks! Know that the thought is so very much appreciated 🙏🏼 thank you! Also, for watching 🫶🏼 I love the dew analogy as well, Ilja! It makes it so simple to translate for every environment because we know our dew point better than anyone and can replicate it so much easier, without having to second guess what is a trickle as opposed to what it too much. Personally, I love it when my nobiles are in active growth during the winter 😅 anything that grows new during the winter is a blessing in my eyes. And, behold, today I saw the first nubbins on my nobile complex hybrid's anes. The little bulges are making a move 🥳 so pleased!! Let me know just how I can be of any help exploring where your money went. I will try to update here, when the analytics update. IF I see it came through I will tell you immediately. Also, a second option is, check your withdrawals on your financial institution's account. It may show for you that it went out already, but has as yet to appear at my end in form of 'intel'. This is so sad, and I am upset that YT makes it so difficult to stay consistent. Both for the channel as well as the likes of you who are so kind as to give additional support! I am sorry, but I am grateful to you at the same time 🫶🏼 hope you are having a great weekend, lovely lady ❤️🌸
@NinjaOrchids I think that I was tricked by a subtle design flaw of comment editor in the TH-cam app, which made me believe that I suddenly started a reply to my own comment, which I obviously canceled, maybe inadvertently aborting the initial post, after the donation had been already initiated. Please don't be concerned about whereabouts of that humble Superthanks at all, but it would be lovely if you could reply here by the end of the coming week whether those infamous 2/3 of it have found their way to you or not. If not, I'll start an inquiry fully on my own without you needing to waste your time on communicating with "Dem Schloss" :-) Very glad to hear that your nobiles also prepare for the Spring, this is so exciting to catch the moment they do that! By the way, a lad, not a lady 🤣
I am sooo embarrassed, Ilja! And I am so sorry!! I have done this now, several times... just assuming that I there is a lovely lady at the other end of the comment. I truly apologize 🙏🏼😔 I will definitely keep you posted on the SuperThanks. In the meantime, I have sent an incident report to TH-cam with a screenshot of your comment, just to give them a heads up. Unfortunately, I do not get a report / case number for you to reference if a complaint needs to be filed at your end, and unfortunately, TH-cam has never responded to me when I had other things I needed to bring to their attention. I am not relevant enough for them, as far as channel size goes. But, I will definitely be on the case. As this is the first time it has happened on my channel, I am going to learn how to get this sorted out and keep you informed as to what I see / don't see at my end! Once again, I do apologize for my ignorance, kind Sir 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Good evening, Ilja 😍 I have checked my analytics and a donation with the amount of €8,83 has registered for the 30th November. Does this sound right for you based on what you donated and then what YT takes off? There is only one spike on this day. Please let me know if this sounds feasible for the comment and the SuperThanks that has disappeared, which it still has not shown up 🫶🏼 thank you! I apologize for troubling you on a Monday evening, but I promised to let you know if I saw something 🫶🏼
@@NinjaOrchids Yes, this is it! Thank you, Nina, for confirming that at least donating worked 💐 Of course, it is disheartening that TH-cam keep over 40% of donated sum to themselves - "Because we can!" 😤
Thank you my orchid teacher! I will never forget that “I am the dew!” I have a beginner question if you don’t mind. I have two common nobile hybrids, akutsuki comet king & spring dream appolon. We had a cold summer this year, I moved my nobiles to an open window sill in mid September. I’ve noticed that spring dream is fully covered in nubbins & comet king isn’t far behind. I’ve had both for two years & they bloomed last in spring 2024.. Is it ok for them to be trying to bloom now whilst I’m still so far away from spring. Has the strange summer in the UK confused them? Both are healthy and seem happy, they look like flower buds and not keikeis . Lastly - should I just water them normally now? I wasn’t expecting this for a while. 😅 Thank you Nina 💞
Hi Holly 😍💐 its wonderful to just go with that thought in your head! It makes everything so much more logical and personalized to what the conditions are on an individual grower's basis 👍🏼 I look forward to all questions, so always fire away 🥰 I LOVE the idea that your's are already showing nubbins, and yes, you are right with your intuition, a cooler summer will have a quicker turn around of growth to blooms, and with that it is possible that your nobiles will be in bloom now, grow new growths during the winter and then bloom again in Spring. Maybe not as abundantly as they are appearing to bloom now, but it is possible. These 2 hybrids are super vigorous and are capable of blooming 2x within a single calender year, and clearly, your's are loving their life with you! Now, if your summer next year is going to be hot, the fact that they are so vigorous, they may still bloom early.... you got yourself some real performers then, so, don't change anything because it is evident that it is working 🙌🏼🥳 water and fertilize as normal yes. Forget what is happening outside, follow the lead of your nobiles, and continue to water and fertilize as per but just make sure that if the pot is still damp enough after a week, that you don't water because 'its been a week'. Your pot should not be wet all the time this time of year, but the media should not be left to go bone dry either. Your watering intervals may be longer and in your example, you are not the dew for these almost in bloom nobiles. 😅 Amazing! Having these 2 in bloom this time of year.... just amazing! The Apollon has such a delightful fresh fragrance, I love that scent! Enjoy🤪🥊🥳 I hope this helps and any further thoughts you would like to run by me, please do! Wishing you a fabYOUlous day, lovely lady! Thank you so much for watching 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Thank you for your concise answer! I’m so excited to see these blooms again. I have never seen the appolon bloom properly as I bought it bargain basement with no flowers. She didn’t bloom last spring, so these are going to feel so special because I really worked for them 🤣. My oh my these little plants bring so much joy and excitement to life. Blooms are the perfect reward for patience and perseverance. Yay 😀 Wishing you a beautiful week Nina, hope you have a good one ❤️❤️💐🌺🌸🌼🌻🍄
This was a very timely video. So a 2 month temp drop is enough? You don’t have to keep them chilled until buds appear? This is my first winter with a nobile. Thanks for this!❤. Have a great weekend!
Hi Liz 😍💐 it is so good to see you! I hope you are doing well 🫶🏼 2 months is enough but the orchids may not push nubbins as a response, if they are then brought back to a warmer location, quickly. It still takes a month or 2 after that, for nubbins to appear along the canes. IF you can leave them in the cooler location until nubbins appear, I would, but you don't have to have them there until nubbins appear. As this is your first winter with your nobile, I have a video on what you can expect, may expect, to happen with your's during the early phase of it being in your environment. It takes a nobile at least 1 year to settle in and find it's groove when it is new to the collection th-cam.com/video/BE_GZ1pF9WI/w-d-xo.html if you have time, and have not seen this video, perhaps it will give you an idea of what you can expect even if the cool down was provided and you did everything right 👍🏼 really appreciate you watching this video and please let me know if you have any other thoughts you would like to run by me. In the meantime, thank you so much for watching 🫶🏼 wishing you a beautiful rest of your weekend ❤️🌸
Hi Jo 😍💐 so appreciate you for your feedback and time watching, thank you so much 🫶🏼 your question about dendrobiums liking a tight root ball has many variables in it, and my first response is no. Orchid roots, in general, do not have a preference for being tight because they can suffocate themselves out. Orchids on mounts do not have a tight root ball, the roots grow everywhere and not in and around themselves, BUT, as many of our orchids are being grown potted up, the environment determines if an orchid grows better with a tighter root ball because of how quickly or slowly a pot will dry out. I have addressed this subject in a video th-cam.com/video/ecM4iXvHQbw/w-d-xo.html if you would like to have a look at it. In this video, I break down what is actually meant when people say that orchids like a smaller pot, a tight root ball and more. Let me know if my reply was of help and if you find time to watch the video I have linked, please let me know if I was able to break down the statement 'tight root ball, pot bound, small pot'. In the meantime, I hope you are having a great weekend, lovely lady! 🫶🏼❤️🌸
I don't know how it is there, but brrr is it going to be cold here the next few days. Highs around 19, lows around 6.5 - 7.5. It is too early and I am not ready for it. But maybe my species nobile will bloom this year with the cold.
Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! It is weird here, but in a nice way! After the funk early October through to 1st week of November, the temps have levelled out to such a degree, that my bosseri went outside again and is still outside.... for now! I think that tomorrow is the cut off day for the angraecoids and they are going to have to come inside because supposedly we are going to get the nasty winter nights' temperatures as from Wednesday 😫 its been pleasant up until now! I am so grateful because I am physically not able to move the Crestwood. Tomorrow, I hope I won't drop it and am mentally preparing myself 🤞🏼I have seen the forecast over yonder and was wondering if it was another hype / fluke, but here you are confirming what I saw. I hope that it will not last beyond a week, in your case 🤞🏼 here? Now come months during which I hope not to crack a crown 😫 'here we go!' Meh! But, yes, maybe your nobile will bloom this time around as a result... if not... GRRRR!!!! How is your bensoniae? Did that growth progress to something that signals a comeback and now has it's grow on? Too early to tell? Would love to know, if you don't mind 🤗 thank you so much for watching, amigo! I hope you are doing well 🫶🏼❤️🌸
🦤🦅😍 they can be temperamental, yes, but not as bad as cattlianthes or other bifoliate cattleyas 🤪😅 I'd rather deal with these orchids than 'those'! I appreciate you taking time to watch this video, Wingman, despite the fact that you do not have these in your collection. It is such a boost of much needed support, so.... thank you, my friend 🫶🏼 hope you are having a great day ❤️🌸

If not, I'll start an inquiry fully on my own without you needing to waste your time on communicating with "Dem Schloss" :-)
Very glad to hear that your nobiles also prepare for the Spring, this is so exciting to catch the moment they do that!
Thank you, Nina, for confirming that at least donating worked 💐
Of course, it is disheartening that TH-cam keep over 40% of donated sum to themselves - "Because we can!" 😤
Thank you my orchid teacher! I will never forget that “I am the dew!”
I have a beginner question if you don’t mind.
Thank you Nina 💞
Yay 😀
Wishing you a beautiful week Nina, hope you have a good one ❤️❤️💐🌺🌸🌼🌻🍄
Hope your day was beautiful as well, Holly! Please keep me posted! I love hearing when other orchids bloom 'out of the blue' 'out of the norm'! 🫶🏼
Quite interesting, thank you! Do dendrobians like to have a tight root ball?
@ thank you!
🫶🏼🥰
I hope you are doing well 🫶🏼❤️🌸
I've heard from several people that they can be temperamental at times. I do not have any, so not familiar with all of its moods! 😅
🦚
🦤🦅😍 they can be temperamental, yes, but not as bad as cattlianthes or other bifoliate cattleyas 🤪😅 I'd rather deal with these orchids than 'those'! I appreciate you taking time to watch this video, Wingman, despite the fact that you do not have these in your collection. It is such a boost of much needed support, so.... thank you, my friend 🫶🏼 hope you are having a great day ❤️🌸
